Bayonne is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. Located in the Gateway Region, Bayonne is situated on a peninsula located between Newark Bay to the west, the Kill Van Kull to the south, and New York Bay to the east. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 63,024, reflecting an increase of 1,182 (+1.9%) from the 61,842 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 398 (+0.6%) from the 61,444 counted in the 1990 Census.
Bayonne was originally formed as a township on April 1, 1861, from portions of Bergen Township. Bayonne was reincorporated as a city by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 10, 1869, replacing Bayonne Township, subject to the results of a referendum held nine days later. At the time it was formed, Bayonne included the communities of Bergen Point, Constable Hook, Centreville, Pamrapo and Saltersville.
Bayonne is east of Newark, the state's largest city, north of Elizabeth in Union County and west of Brooklyn. It shares a land border with Jersey City to the north and is connected to Staten Island by the Bayonne Bridge. While somewhat diminished, traditional manufacturing, distribution, and maritime activities remain a driving force of the economy of the city, and a portion of the Port of New York and New Jersey is located there.

To the Struggle Against World Terrorism (also known as the Tear of Grief and the Tear Drop Memorial) is a 10–story sculpture by Zurab Tsereteli that was given to the United States as an official gift of the Russian government as a memorial to the victims of the September 11 attacks in 2001 (26 of whom were Russian) and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. It stands at the end of the former Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey. Groundbreaking was done on September 16, 2005, in a ceremony attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and was dedicated on September 11, 2006, in a ceremony attended by former U.S. President Bill Clinton.
Design[edit]
The sculpture is composed of a 100-foot (30 m) bronze-clad tower split with a jagged opening in the middle in which hangs a large nickel-surfaced teardrop, 40 feet (12 m) high. The eleven sides of the monument's base bear granite name plates, on which are etched the names of those who died in the September 11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. However, like some other 9/11 memorials, the dedication was based on an outdated compilation and contains about forty people who were removed from later victim listings.
Tsereteli did not disclose the cost of the sculpture except to say that he paid for labor and materials. A lawyer for the sculptor released the cost at about $12 million. Tsereteli said metals for the sculpture were obtained From a military factory that did airplanes. In Dzerzhinsk. A secret city.
Bayonne breaks ground on special needs park
Earlier today, local government officials, engineers, and parents, all gathered around a construction site for the official ground breaking of a special needs park in Bayonne.
“A playground was very much needed; something that all kids, of all abilities could come and play and have fun,” said Bayonne parent, Elisha DeMaria. DeMaria was the first person to come see Mayor Davis when he was first elected to office and purposed the idea of the park.
The facility will be part of the already existing 16th street park, and Mayor Davis told Hudson TV that was because of its easy parking access.
The construction is projected to take about six weeks to complete. The park will have specially designed, wheel chair accessible equipment, consisting of swings and a play-set.

Fishing at Liberty State Park, Jersey City New Jersey - Blue Fish
August 2010. Went to Liberty State Park for fishing. A beautiful backdrop of Statue of Liberty and New York City skyline. Enjoying nice cloudy weather while waiting for fish to bite. It's already dark when a big blue fish grab my line so hard and have to fight with it for several minutes. Ran out of video cam battery but was able to get a good shoot of the fishing rod bending and reel line releasing or screaming from the strong pull of the big fish.
