Harvest Host Camping at Bayou Teche Brewery in Louisiana
On this Airstream Life vLog, we leave Texas and break up our drive to New Orleans by free camping at a Harvest Host location in Arnaudville Louisana. Bayou Teche Brewing was hopping when we got there. They always have live Cajun music on Sundays and this Sunday was particularly busy due to it being right before the end of Mardi Gras!
After figuring out where to park the Airstream (since the parking lot was so busy). We got to walk over and enjoy some beer and some live music. Lots of great beer to choose from! They also have amazing woodfired pizza (though they ran out they were so busy) and a cool little gift shop with Italians sodas. We enjoyed our time hanging out and chatting with locals.
We even got to meet up with some subscribers who drove out when they saw we were in the area. Thanks for the King Cake and the fun conversation Lynn & Phil!
After the brewery closed we headed back across the parking lot to our Airstream. We made up some dinner and got the catalytic heater going since it was going to be a cold night. Luckily we stayed nice and toasty. The brewery is on a road but it was very quiet overnight. Steve's only complaint was the neon sign in the parking lot lit up the Airstream some. Even the internet here was good! It was a great stop after a long day's drive.
On to our camping spot near New Orleans in the next video :)

Our First Harvest Hosts | Bayou Teche Brewing | Ep. 3
After surprising my mother for her birthday in Biloxi, MS, we headed back towards Texas. We decided that we didn’t want to drive all the way through again. We decided to use our Harvest Hosts Membership, for the first time, at Bayou Teche Brewing Company (pronounced Tesh).
Harvest Host is membership program that provides their members with a database of unique places that will allow you to boondock with your rv overnight. These unique places include breweries, wineries, farms, museums, and golf courses located all over the US. For a yearly fee, you can be member and have access to all of these places. Members are encouraged to visit the store fronts and support the local businesses.
Bayou Teche Brewing Company is located in Louisiana. The brewery has live events Friday through Sunday and their taproom is open daily. The staff are extremely nice and all people are welcome. Bayou Teche beer is delicious and is distributed throughout the southeast.
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the brewing company. After enjoying a couple of beer tasting, we bought additional brews to take back to the birdhouse. Without a doubt we will be using Harvest Host again. We only hope that our next experience can live up to our first.

Acadie Biere de Garda Bayou Teche Biere The Spit or Swallow Beer Review
Down on the Bayou, Down on the Bayou!! Shagdog & Jammer are reviwing Acadie Biere de Garda.
Brewed by: Bayou Teche Brewery Louisiana, United States
Style
As a Bière de Garde, Acadie offers the style's prominent malty aroma. A freshly poured beer is highly carbonated and bronze colored with a nice, thick off-white head. Malty with an underlying caramel sweetness, Acadie finishes medium-dry. The restrained use of continental hops provides its balanced hop bitterness. The restrained use of elegant Strisselspalt and Saaz hops offer a perfectly balanced bitterness with a very discreet hop aroma. Acadie is our summer/fall seasonal beer.
Story
France's elegant contribution to the world's beer styles is Bière de Garde - translated it means beer for keeping and has been brewed on farms there for centuries. Just as the French proudly brew their traditional ale, as descendants of survivors of Le Grand Dérangement we brew an artisanal version we call Acadie - in memory of our Acadian homeland. Acadie offers the smooth roundness of artisanal farmhouse ale, thus this French style beer is terrific paired with most any cuisine.

Returning to America after a six year deployment in West Germany, our brewmaster dreamed of creating a beer that would pair with the Cajun cuisine he grew up eating. Living in Europe, he had learned to appreciate the regional foods and beers of many countries, and how they had evolved to complement each other. Taking up brewing beer at home, he taught himself to make several styles of these beers, fine-tuning recipes until he was satisfied that they complimented Cajun and Creole food. After returning to Arnaudville, he taught his brothers and collaborating they brewed commemorative batches of beer for their family's holiday meals.
Bayou Teche Brewing was founded on this simple dream -- to craft beers that compliment the cuisine and lifestyle of Cajuns and Creoles. With that mission, the Knott brothers decided on St. Patrick's Day in 2009 to convert a discarded rail road car into a farmhouse brewery.
Years ago, when the French-speaking, agrarian residents of Acadiana needed to put up a barn or similar building they would throw a coup de main. Inviting friends and relatives over to help with the arduous task, everyone's shared labor would be repaid with a large communal meal. Thanks to well-fed (and sometimes inebriated) volunteers and as a nod to the Cajun aesthetic and heritage, the tiny hand built brewery now resembles a traditional Acadian style home -- complete with a tasting porch.
Today, in that converted old rail car near the banks of the Bayou Teche, innovative ales are being crafted true to the brewers' original intent -- beers that compliment the unique foods and lifestyles of South Louisiana.
The Brewmaster of Bayou Teche Brewing, Karlos Knott developed an appreciation for the finely brewed beers of Europe while serving as a US Army Cavalry Scout in Germany in the 1990's. While there, he savored the local beers and cuisines that had evolved symbiotically together.
Transferred to the Pacific Northwest just as that region's microbrewery scene was just starting to explode, Karlos often visited these small emerging breweries and then started brewing small batches of beer at home. This new found hobby made it possible for him to craft a tolerable hefeweizen, a German wheat beer which at that time was near impossible to get in the states.
After his discharge from the Army, he came back to Acadiana, crafting beers for special family occasions and honing his brewing skills, all the while listening to Cajun and Zydeco music. He has a Bachelors of Arts degree in English from the University of Maryland European division.
When not brewing beer, drinking beer, or reading about brewing or drinking beer, Karlos enjoys playing his Cajun accordion, cooking for and spending time with his family and cruising rural Acadiana highways on his Harley Springer looking for the elusive perfect link of boudin. Or bag of gratons.
Byron Knott earned a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. A noted local artist, his uplifting and colorful pop art paintings have been seen around Lafayette and area art shows for the last decade.
When not brewing, Byron loves to visit the small towns, vineyards and woodlands of the South. His quest for the region's unique wine, beer and moonshine has often led to revelatory inspirations for everyone at the brewery. He still enjoys painting on large canvasses, writing poetry, and composing songs. Every Sunday during crawfish season he can found boiling crawfish at our family's communal outdoor kitchen, ice-chest of cold LA31's nearby.
