Imperial Beach, California Community Video | The Real Estate Jedi™

Imperial Beach Community Video is about the rapidly improving Imperial Beach Community, the most South-Westerly beach community in the continental U.S..
Long known as Classic Southern California”, IB is taking big strides in making its mark among San Diego County beach communities.
Situated just over 2 miles South of the Coronado Cays and the Silver Strand State Beach, and just North of the Tijuana Estuary National Wildlife Refuge, IB’s location is just the beginning of it’s unique charm.
With nearly 4 miles of oceanfront, IB is a very popular surfing destination, with great surf and beautiful beaches. With one of the longest piers in California, it is also a major attraction for fishing.
Imperial Beach has also long been known for it’s annual Sandcastle Competition, (an event now called “Sun and Sea Festival”), drawing professional sand-carvers from around the world, and tourists from all over California. The event is known to attract tourists in numbers totaling over 100,000 people over the weekend it is held.
Although a slow-paced, easy-going beach community, IB has lots to offer in regards to recreation and site-seeing.
Head south on Seacoast and you will see the Tijuana Estuary Wildlife Refuge, with walking trails and informational guides to help you identify the wildlife along the way.
Head North towards the San Diego Bay side of IB, and you will find the Bayshore Bikeway- a bicycle path that goes straight up the Silver Strand, past the Coronado Cays and Silver Strand State Beach, right up to Coronado.
Construction is underway to complete the path on the East Side of the bay. The completed project will consist of a 24 mile U-shaped bike path around the bay, with a ferry to take bicyclists between Coronado and San Diego.
Dunes Park is located beachside off of Seacoast Drive and offers amenities such as beach volley-ball, basketball courts, picnic tables, and a playground thats great for the youngsters.
About a block more South and you’re at IB Pier, a great spot for watching the sun set, or for the farmers market with a diverse selection of merchants on Fridays.
Head approximately 2 miles South East to San Diego Beach Rides, and take a horse-back ride on the trails through the Tijuana River Valley, or on the sandy beach!
IB residential properties range from condominiums and townhomes, to small beach cottages on up through 3,000+ sf homes throughout the community.
Many new projects are set for development as well, ranging from large single-family homes,to luxury ocean-front condos and mixed-use commercial projects.
Housing in IB has long been the most affordable beach-community property in San Diego County, but as the community grows with recent surge in developments and businesses, the status quo is changing.
Take for instance the Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, SEA180. Opened in early 2014, the hotel and the downstairs Coastal Tavern, a Cohn Group Restaurant, have attracted visitors from around the world, and have ignited the communities growth, inspiring other entrepreneurial ventures.
Coronado Brewing Company and Barrels Restaurant and Lounge are among the other new businesses to the area, and have been on the cutting edge of changing the face of Imperial Beach.
With even much more to offer, Imperial Beach is a must-visit community that is always improving. Take a cruise down the Silver Strand and check it out. You won’t regret it.

Imperial Beach to Coronado to Gaslamp by bike and ferry in 5 minutes. As always, wear a helmet, bring enough water, a patch kit and a pump, obey all signs and lights, and respect your fellow cyclists.
With a little peddle power and sunscreen, families, commuters, and weekend cycling enthusiasts can take a rolling tour of the Southbay and Coronado, followed by a ferry to the Gaslamp.
The Bayshore Bikepath from IB to the Coronado waterfront stretches less than 11 miles, is completely flat, and has the benefit of crossing minimal roadways. More determined cyclists can roll the entire 24 mile loop, encircling the bay.
An additional three miles will be added by 2012 as the bikeway is expanded between Chula Vista and National City.
A liesurely ride one way will take about 1.5 hours, and allow you to keep an eye ahead for wildlife and endless scenary. Or, a sweat inducing 15mph average speed will take you about 45 minutes, though this speed is not recommended in areas of heavy pedestrian traffic along the waterfront.
Starting from Imperial Beach
You travel west past salt ponds and marsh lands, north up the Silver Strand, with the bay and ocean on either side and under Coronado's bridge and along the waterfront, finishing with a peaceful ferry ride to downtown San Diego.
Before starting the ride in IB, stop by Saltwater Magic for any bicycle maintenance needs.
From downtown San Diego to Imperial Beach
Use all-day parking (cost around $20), and take the ferry to Coronado, which costs $4.25.
Then, stay left as you walk your bike through the Coronado Waterfront Market. The walkway will lead towards the parking lot, but stay left as it rolls east towards the Coronado bridge and along the waterfront.
You'll pass a golf course, the Hotel Del Coronado, the Navy Amphibious Operations Base and the Silver Strand Training Complex. As you near IB, you'll see the elephant cage, a huge Wullenweber directional finding circular antenna.
Soon after, the path turns east towards the1 13th Street entrance, which is an excellent turnaround point if you don't plan to ride around the bay. If you cross a steel foot bridge, you've gone too far.
If you need a coffee or bicycle maintenance in Coronado, try Cafe 1134 and Holland's Bicycles, both on Orange Avenue.
As always, wear a helmet, bring enough water, a patch kit and a pump, obey all signs and lights and respect your fellow cyclists.
