Marmaris, Muğla Province, Turkey, Asia
Marmaris is a port city and tourist resort on the Mediterranean coast, located in Muğla Province, southwest Turkey, along the shoreline of the Turkish Riviera. Marmaris' main source of income is tourism. It has an exceptional location between two intersecting sets of mountains by the sea, though following a construction boom in the 1980s, little is left of the sleepy fishing village that Marmaris was until the late 20th century. In 2010, the city's population was 30,957, and peaks at around 300,000 to 400,000 people during the tourist season.
It is also a centre for sailing and diving, possessing two major and several smaller marinas. It is a popular wintering location for hundreds of cruising boaters, being also served by the nearby Dalaman Airport.

Marmaris is a port town and tourist resort on the Mediterranean coast, located in Muğla Province, southwest Turkey, along the shoreline of the Turkish Riviera. Marmaris' main source of income is tourism. Little is left of the sleepy fishing village that Marmaris was just a few decades ago, after a construction boom in the 1980s. Marmaris still retains its charm due to its exceptional location between two intersecting sets of mountains by the sea. In 2010 the town's population was 30,957, and peaks at around 300,000 to 400,000 people during the tourist season. Marmaris' nightlife rivals anything on the Turkish coast. It is also a centre for sailing and diving, possessing two major and several smaller marinas. It is a popular wintering location for hundreds of cruising boaters, being also served by the nearby Dalaman Airport. Marmaris has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen: Csa) characterised by a hot and humid summer and cool, rainy winter. Showers and rain are very unlikely between May and October.
Summers are hot and humid, and temperatures are especially high during the heatwaves in July and August. October is still warm and bright, though with spells of rain, and many tourists prefer to visit in the early autumn, especially in September, because the temperatures are not as hot. Winters are mild and wet. Winter is the rainy season, with major precipitation falling after November. The annual rainfall can reach to 1,232.7 milimetres (48.531 in); the rainfall is concentrated during scattered days in winter falling in heavy cloudbursts which cause flash floods sometimes in flood prone areas. Although it is not certain when Marmaris was founded, in the 6th century BC the site was known as Physkos (Ancient Greek: Φύσκος) and considered part of Caria. According to the historian Herodotus, there had been a castle on the site since 3000 BC. In 334 BC, Caria was invaded by Alexander the Great and the castle of Physkos was besieged. The 600 inhabitants of the town realised that they had no chance against the invading army and burned their valuables in the castle before escaping to the hills with their women and children. The invaders, well aware of the strategic value of the castle, repaired the destroyed sections to house a few hundred soldiers before the main army returned home. The town became known as Marmaris during the period of the Beylik of Menteşe; the name derives from the Turkish word mermer, Greek màrmaron (marble) in reference to the rich deposits of marble in the region, and the prominent role of the town's port in the marble trade. In the mid-fifteenth century, Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror conquered and united the various tribes and kingdoms of Anatolia and the Balkans, and acquired Constantinople. The Knights of St. John, based in Rhodes had fought the Ottoman Turks for many years; they also withstood the onslaughts of Mehmed II. When sultan Suleiman the Magnificent set out for the conquest of Rhodes, Marmaris served as a base for the Ottoman Navy and Marmaris Castle was rebuilt from scratch in 1522. Lord Nelson and his entire fleet sheltered in the harbour of Marmaris in 1798, en route to Egypt to defeat Napoleon's armada during the Mediterranean campaign. Since 1979, renovation work has been continuing at the castle. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the castle was converted into a museum. There are seven galleries. The largest is used as an exhibition hall, the courtyard is decorated with seasonal flowers. Built at the same time as the castle in the bazaar, there is also a small Ottoman caravanserai built by Suleiman's mother Ayşe Hafsa Sultan.
Nimara Cave is a cave on Heaven Island near Marmaris. Since ancient times, the cave was used as a place of worship. According to the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, human presence in the cave (as well as the old city of Physkos, today called Marmaris), dates back to 3,000 BC. However, excavations carried out by the Municipality of Marmaris in 2007 extended this period to almost 12,000 years back. The research conducted in the cave has revealed the existence of a cult of Mother Goddess Leto, believed to be the mother of God Apollo and Goddess Artemis, in the ancient city of Physkos. The cave is located at the highest point of Heaven Island and was used as a place of worship by the ancient residents of the town of Nimara. The worshipping took place around the main rock that exists even today. This main rock is surrounded by stone altars in a semi-circle raised at about 30 cm from the ground. Offerings to the Mother Goddess Leto were placed on these elevated stones. The offerings were made in the form of cremations, glass beads, terracotta, and sculptures of Leto. The cave was also in use during the Roman period. Nimara Cave has been declared a protected area in 1999.
Invest In Turkey Real Estate - Why İstanbul?
ECONOMY
When we glance at the city’s economy and working-occupational-professional life, Istanbul generates about 23% of Turkey’s Gross National Product (GNP). Its annual contribution to the state budget is about 40%. On the other hand, the city’s share of government expenditures has remained roughly 7-8%.
TRADE
Istanbul has a central importance in both domestic and international trade. The added value created in Istanbul, reaches 26.5 percent of provincial total added value, and trade is the second most important sector in Istanbul after industry. In Turkey, 27% of the general added value created in the commercial sector is created by Istanbul.
Tourism
Being the center of tourism and host to many convention centers, Istanbul is an important center of tourism. The number of foreign tourists visiting Istanbul has reached 10 million in 2015.
One-fourth of the city’s hotels are five-stars and almost one-fifth are four-star hotels.
Furthermore, 14 of the 153 museums located Turkey are found in Istanbul, and 34% of the 2.400.000 pieces of art displayed in Turkey can be seen in Istanbul.
Transport
Istanbul is also the center of the country’s air transport industry. In addition to Ataturk Airport on the European side, the second airport Sabiha Gokcen Airport is located in Pendik on the Anatolian side of the city. Project of the third airport is planned to be constructed in the near future.
12 Islands and Göcek bays - Fethiye
#Gocek is blessed with a magnificent scenery.
Backed by majestic mountains and substantial pine forests it looks out over the Twelve Islands
Imagine for a moment you had your own yacht - and with it complete freedom to visit any of the beauty spots along the stunning Turquoise Coast without the need to worry about practicalities such as road access or suitable accommodation on land. Then consider how many of those who do have exactly this privilege choose to visit Gocek again and again and you will realize that this must be a very special place indeed.
Set at the north-west end of the Gulf of Fethiye, Gocek is blessed with magnificent scenery. Backed by majestic mountains and substantial pine forests it looks out over the Twelve Islands.

The islands also provide further shelter for Gocek's almost circular bay which has made the village such a perfect natural harbour. Lured by such perfection, the yachting community has made Gocek a favourite - amongst them such luminaries as President Özal and Britain's Princess Margarete - and it is also a popular stop for gulet cruises. Perhaps this explains Gocek's impressive range of facilities for a place that remains so blissfully untouched by the trappings of large-scale tourism: there are less than a handful of small hotels and less than a dozen even smaller pensions, and no building stands more than two storays tall. Yet all along the wide, immaculately landscaped promenade that fringes the quayside, there is no shortage of cafes to excellent restaurants specializing in delicious freshly fish caught in the bay that same day.
sailing on the route of St. PaulIn the backstreets and around the old village square by the mosque, there is a surprising array of shops. You will find colourful greengrocers and fascinating art and crafts shops, carpet bazaars and exclusive jewellers, designer boutiques and shops selling hammocks, even a traditional village barber should you fancy a really close shave! There is also a handful of atmospheric cocktail and jazz bars, hut noisy, boisterous entertainment does not feature on Gocek's menu: by local law, all bars must turn down their music by 11:30 p.m. so as not to be audible from outside and must close altogether by 02 am.
With its charming, laid-back atmosphere, Gocek is the sort of place where you can happily while away whole lazy days watching the world go by from a quayside patisserie, but life does of course revolve around the sea here. From the harbour you can take boat trips around the Twelve islands and a boat is also the natural choice of transport to reach.Gocek's beaches
Cleopatra's Baths, (actually The bay of Cleopatra's Baths), is a large bay full of lots of pine trees, and has a dark blue sea which goes to light blue, as you reach the shore. In the south - western part of the bay, there are some ruins which came down because of the earthquakes in Fethiye. According to the myth, in one of the visits of Cleopatra to Anatolian coasts, her close friends decided to build a Roman Bath for Cleopatra as a present. Because, they found a hot water spring in this part of the bay. The water here was very good for the skin, with the minerals and elements it contained like Calcium, Magnesium, etc. Some say that the mystery which lies behind the beauty of Cleopatra is the water here. (however, it may be true..) The water here, was coming from a crater lake (dry now)which was behind the mountain you see at the northern side of the bay. Even today, if you look

at the bottom of the sea, where the ruins are, before the wind starts very early in the morning, you can see the sands at the bottom are still a bit moving. This means that there is still a bit amount of hot water coming out today. If you want to try your chance to be as beautiful as Cleopatra and to look 10 years younger(!), you are allowed to swim around and in the ruins!!!
Given Gocek's unspoiled charm; you might think it would take a great effort to reach this idyllic haven, but it is only just half an hour from Dalaman airport and the Gocek tunnel is ready since middle of 2006. Less than an hour's drive takes you to Dalyan with Caunos and the Rock Tombs in the west or the deserted ghost town of Kayaköy near Fethiye. With so much in its favour, it is almost a miracle that Gocek has not been swamped, by the developers.

Kara Gunes was formed in 1997 in Ankara. It was at first a rock band influenced by Anatolian music, and in its early work depicted the human self-journey, and criticised the system and routine of daily life. A few years later the band left Ankara and travelled between Izmir, Istanbul, Antalya and other cities, performing with various musicians. The product of the group varied with the inclusion of local musicians and the influence of the local culture. After settling down in Istanbul in 2004, Kara Gunes started a new musical journey, with varying participants and including the use of traditional instruments such as the santur, ney and kemence. Since then it has become one of the leading groups performing around Istanbul and representing street culture..
On the street, Kara Gunes performs Anatolian folk poems, traditional works, its own compositions and improvisations usıng various acoustic instruments gathered from a wide region; includıng the santur, violin, contrabass, kemence, ney, twelve-string guitar and Turkish percussion (including tef, bendir, darbuka and cajon). Kara Gunes also performs with different formations including the use of electric instruments.
Kara Günes have one published recording in summer 2013 (“Mevsim Gecti” on local Kalan records) and have also produced 5 demo recordings which they have distributed around the audience during their street performances.Kara Günes Street: Santur, ney, violin, twelve-string guitar, soprano saxophone, contrabass and percussion.
