We have arrived...
Continuing our crusade to bestow the most creative cocktails and darkly delicious dining on every corner of the country, we’ve brought The Alchemist to Nottingham. After all, as the historic home of notorious outlaws and the world’s most despicable sheriff, it’s only natural that we’d fit right in. Even more fittingly, we’ve set up shop in the gothic grandeur of one of King Street’s most magnificent listed buildings and darkened it’s doors with our customary theatrical flair.

The Cow Shed - Cocktail bar and Kitchen in Worthing
The Cow Shed isn’t actually a shed – nor does it have cows. It was born from an evening of wine-imbibing and brain-storming between friends in Brighton.
Having moved to Worthing from Brighton, Leee, Sarah & a small boy named Stanley (he had some input) wanted to create a place where they and their friends would want to go to. A chilled ambience, great burgers, cocktails, craft beers – and a nice sit down. With an eclectic mix of 80’s and 90’s pop – being ‘our’ era of music – the aim was to provide an oasis of calm for the more mature market, where friends and families could meet, drink and be merry.
A Steam-punk interior, Italian leather chairs, comfy padded booths and floor-to-ceiling windows was the look that was chosen. The concept being to bring a Brighton-vibe to Worthing – and following the dream, the old Spyglass was no more and The Cow Shed rose from the ashes like a phoenix from the flames.
'The COW SHED' ethos was clear from the start. They use only local suppliers for their produce – and to provide quality ingredients that are freshly prepared on site. As an independent business, it was of paramount importance that they followed this clear route. They use John Wildman & Sons and Swandean butchers in Worthing for their meat and GA Brown in Worthing for their fresh fruit and veg. Both suppliers deliver daily.
Burgers are their speciality, with a wide selection – including the mighty Cow Shed burger - a hero burger of our video! If burgers aren’t your thing, they offer a selection of other American-style comfort food including nachos, Mac ‘n’ cheese, hot dogs and sirloin steaks. They have a freshly prepared children’s menu too that is equally as tasty as the larger portions.
This family-friendly and dog-friendly (arguably the most important family members) welcomes anyone who wishes to ride with Cow Shed team on their journey.

Cheers! More Booze-Free Bars For Britain
A growing number of alcohol-free bars cropping up across the UK could signal a shift in attitudes towards drinking.
Catherine Salway set up a dry bar in London last year after spotting a trend in youngpeople wanting to be healthier and cutting back their drinking.
She said: If you're 30 now, you've grown up in an environment where everyone is getting lashed all the time ... and really, as young people want to do, they are questioning the status quo which is to say why is socialising constantly linked with being drunk all the time?
Catherine Salway spotted the trend for dry bars
Ms Salway funded her Redemption bar independently, but a number of other dry bars in the country have been backed by alcohol charities.
These have included venues in Nottingham and Liverpool.
Sophie Fordham, a university student who has blogged for Alcohol Concern, reckons younger people are becoming more open to the idea of alcohol-free bars.
Say you go out three nights a week, if you replace that with one night at a chilled out, nice place, where you don't have to think about spending money on alcohol, you don't have to think about how you're getting home ... It's just a nice alternative, she said.
Instead of cocktails it's mocktails
Figures from the Office for National Statistics suggest UK alcohol habits are changing among young people.
The number of people, aged 25-44, who said they had had a drink in the previous week dropped from 74% to 63% for men and from 62% to 50% for women, between 2005 and 2012.
Other research appears to show a reduction in teenagers drinking alcohol too.
Former Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy, better known to soap fans as Curly Watts, is a recovering alcoholic who hasn't had a drink for 17 years.
Kevin Kennedy, who has been sober 17 years, is hoping to join the trend
The actor is hoping to open his own dry bar in Brighton.
I think in the UK we have got a kind of reputation of being just drunks, especially abroad and I think people are getting fed up of that. I think as a collective we are growing up, he said.
But when customers at a typical London pub were asked if booze-free nights can be as fun as alcohol-fuelled ones, the reaction was not overwhelmingly positive.
One drinker said: I don't think it would be very fun because that's the whole point of a bar isn't it, that it serves alcohol?
Another added: Fun sometimes comes when you lose your inhibitions and alcohol helps you lose your inhibitions.

An English Chef Shows Us How to Fry Proper Fish and Chips
When Playboy senior editor Jeremy Repanich asks English chef Brendan Collins of Birch in Hollywood to show him how to make fish and chips, Collins sees right away that he's being typecast. But, of course, the Nottingham-raised, Manchester United-loving Collins is pretty damned English, and if you're swinging by his restaurant for lunch, ordering his crispy fried cod and thick-cut kennebec chips would be solid choice.
