Hel Peninsula: sea resorts of Chałupy, Jastarnia, Jurata and Hel
Learn more about Hel Peninsula:
Discover Hel Peninsula, a 35-km-long sand bar peninsula in the Northern part of Poland home to the sea resorts of Chałupy, Jastarnia, Jurata and Hel. It is located some 50 kilometres north of the Tricity it is one of the most visited Baltic destinations especially during the summer months where it is an ideal place for camping and enjoying various water sports including kite surfing.
The peninsula width is the narrower near the Jurata region with only a few hundred meters and much larger at the eastern tip with over 3 km in the town of Hel. Interestingly up until the 17th century, because it is mainly formed of sand, the peninsula was a chain of islands that formed a strip of land only during the summer.

Gdańsk Bay, Chałupy, Pomerania, Poland, Europe
Gdansk Bay is a southeastern bay of the Baltic Sea. It is named after the adjacent port city of Gdańsk in Poland and is sometimes referred to as the Gulf of Gdańsk. The western part of Gdańsk Bay is formed by the shallow waters of the Bay of Puck. The southeastern part is the Vistula Lagoon, separated by the Vistula Spit and connected to the open sea by the Strait of Baltiysk.
The bay is enclosed by a large curve of the shores of Gdańsk Pomerania in Poland and the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia. The coast of the bay features two very long sandspits, the Hel peninsula and the Vistula Spit. The first one defines the Bay of Puck, the latter one defines the Vistula Lagoon. The maximum depth is 120 meters, and it has a salinity of 0.7%. The major ports and coastal cities are Gdańsk, Gdynia, Puck, Sopot, Hel, Kaliningrad, Primorsk, and Baltiysk. The main rivers of Gdańsk Bay are the Vistula and the Pregolya. The bay receives the waters of the Vistula directly via three branches the Leniwka, the Śmiała Wisła, and the Martwa Wisła and indirectly via the Vistula Lagoon with two branches, the Nogat and the Szkarpawa. By nautic definition, the Bay of Gdańsk is much larger, including also the area of the Baltic Sea in front of the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad and the Lithuanian coast. The bayshore was the setting of a naval bombardment during the Invasion of Poland (1939), the first combat action of World War II. The bay plays a pivotal role in the American animated television series Metalocalypse. While today the Kursenieki, also known as Kuršininkai are a nearly extinct Baltic ethnic group living along the Curonian Spit. In 1649 Kuršininkai settlement spanned from Memel (Klaipėda) to Danzig (Gdańsk). The Kuršininkai were eventually assimilated by the Germans, except along the Curonian Spit where some still live. The Kuršininkai were considered Latvians until after World War I when Latvia gained independence from the Russian Empire, a consideration based on linguistic arguments. This was the rationale for Latvian claims over the Curonian Spit, Memel, and other territories of East Prussia which would be later dropped.

Leba sunset, Poland 2014 - over Baltic Sea
Leba is an awesome place to watch the sunset over the sea. If you've never seen this before, please treat yourself to this experience. Just walk about one or two kilometres west of Leba on the beach. You'll be almost completely alone for this spectacle, and after the sun sinks into the sea, you can just walk back along the beach and eventually come back into town. Simply incredible.

A sailing boat called Amata 2 on the sandy beach at Chałupy on the Hel Peninsula in the north of Poland, filmed at 2:44 P.M. on June 12, 2019.
Na Kaszubach budowano je m.in. w Karwi, Jastarni i Pucku.
Celem zmniejszenia dryfu stosowano miecz. Obecnie pomeranki (repliki) budowane są w celach turystycznych i rekreacyjnych.
