Pluses:
Amazing! One of my top 5 best places to visit. The beach/bay in front of the hotel, the staff, the facilities and cocktails by the pool are just all amazing. Hopefully, see you next year.
Really beautiful resort, lovely pool area, calm blue seas, absolute paradise!
Hillside pool villa was amazing!!! Had never stayed anywhere like it before. The staff treated us like royalty! If we needed to go anywhere all we had to do was call reception and they would come and pick us up in a golf cart and take us wherever we needed to go.
Minuses:
The boat transfers - currently haphazard and it is really hit and miss if you get a clean or dirty boat. Be careful not to touch the wood on the longboats as I did this and got bitten by sea lice. Perfect accommodation but the boat transfers really let you down. Remember, it is the first experience and last experience that hotel guest will experience and first and last impressions always last.
The bed was extremely hard! Food and drinks were a little over priced. I didn’t really like having to wade through the water to get to the hotel when we arrived.

Traumhaftes Strandhotel Koh Phi Phi • Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island

Maya Bay: The beach nobody can touch - BBC News
In the 1990s a film crew decided that Maya Bay, on the island of Phi Phi Leh in southern Thailand, was the kind of heaven-on-earth idyll where a group of people who wanted to rebuild society from scratch might settle.
The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was released in the year 2000. Based on the book by Alex Garland, it tells the story of a backpacker's search for a legendary beach untouched by tourism. Obviously things turn sour in paradise.
Since then this tiny, but now iconic, strip of sand has topped bucket lists of people around the world consumed by wanderlust.
Already high, the volume of visitors to the area saw an astonishing spike in 2016 when Chinese tourists started coming in large numbers

Koh Phi Phi (Phi Phi Islands) Thailand
The Koh Phi Phi are a beautiful group of islands on the south western sea board of Thailand. The main island, Phi Phi Don, is featured in this video. The island is 8 km long by 2.5 km wide and is shaped somewhat like a 'dumb bell.' The island is dominated by craggy cliffs and palm treed hillsides. Villages and bungalows line white sandy beaches. I visited Phi Phi in February 2007 as part of a tour of Thailand and Cambodia. The music on the clip is Blue Sky by Big Head Todd and The Monsters.
Backpacking on Koh Phi Phi Don, Thailand

Guide : it's pretty touristy but so gorgeous anyway. Go on a diving / snorkeling trip to see the surrounding nature. It is well worth it!

KOH PHI PHI - PHI PHI ISLANDS | THINGS TO DO IN KOH PHI PHI | THAILAND ATTRACTIONS
The Phi Phi Islands or Koh Phi Phi is the ultimate destination in Thailand. Koh means island in Thai. The islands are located in Krabi Province. If you’re travelling from Krabi, it takes around ninety minutes to travel from Ao Nang to Phi Phi. If you are based in Phuket, you can take a ferry from Phuket to Phi Phi for two hours.
Phi Phi Islands comprise of six islands including;
Phi Phi Don
Phi Phi Leh
Bida Nok
Bida Nai
Koh Yung
Koh Phai
Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh are the largest islands among all. Coming in different shapes and sizes, the islands share few common things from white powdery sand, crystal clear water, lines of coconut trees and plenty of scenic spots.
Get your summer gear ready and head out to the Phi Phi islands best beaches!
Maya Bay is the famous, most stunning bay in the Phi Phi Islands. The bay is where ‘The Beach’ movie was filmed back in 1999. After it was released, Maya Bay has become one of the top world destinations. Even though the place is very touristy, it is still worth a visit.
Maya Bay is surrounded by high limestone cliffs of Koh Phi Phi Leh. Inside the gulf, there are several beaches, some of them only show up at low tide. The bay offers an amazing marine life and coral reef to explore.
Monkey Beach
From the name, you might have figured who inhabits the beach. There is a hidden cove of Ao Ling on this beach that is the home to a colony of monkeys in Phi Phi Don.
Due to the high number of tourists who visit Monkey Beach every year, the monkeys understand how to interact with human and patiently wait for food. The monkeys do not hesitate to climb onto your legs and search for bananas. Be careful because the monkeys can get very wild!
Monkey Beach is usually a short stop in the Phi Phi islands tour. If you have plenty of time on the beach, you can rent a kayak and explore the nature around.
Long Beach
Long Beach is Phi Phi Islands’ softest and whitest beach. This beach is located near Tonsai Village in Koh Phi Phi Don. To get here you can walk from the centre of Phi Phi Don. The path is rocky and involves a short jungle trail so don’t try it at night! An alternative is to take a five minute longtail boat ride from the centre of Phi Phi Don to Long Beach.
There are no sun loungers available in Long Beach so throw down a towel and lay down on the beach. There are some mini markets around where you can find your basic needs.
Looking out to the ocean you may notice a big rock breaking the surface of the water. This rock is called Shark Point, a popular destination for spotting black-tip reef sharks. The snorkeling and diving here is amazing and therefore easy to see why Long Beach is one of the Phi Phi islands beach beaches.

Best Thailand Islands: Phi Phi Island
***EXPAND FOR MORE INFO***
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand. Phi Phi Island is our favorite place in Thailand so far.
Getting There:
From Krabi and Ao Ngang, you can book ferry tickets at several travel agencies and guesthouses (cost 350 baht pp) which included transport from our guesthouse to the ferry pier. The ferry trip from Krabi to Phi Phi island is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Upon arrival you'll be required to pay 20 baht pp, the national park fee.
Getting Around:
Phi Phi is an ideal walking island, you can walk from Loh Dalum bay to Ton Sai bay in 10 minutes. No major roads exist here, it's a delightfully easy-going village of cobblestone pathways with the main mode of transportation being walking or riding a bicycle.
Accommodations:
Fresh off the ferry you'll be bombarded by touts on the pier, trying to sell you on guesthouses and hotels. We recommend exploring accommodations on your own, it's a very small walking island, guesthouses are everywhere, you won't have any problem locating and finding one that suits your budget and taste.
Night Life
Watch out for staying too close to Loh Dalum Beach, if you want to get some sleep at night, that's not the place. When night falls, Loh Dalum beach becomes the center for night life on the island. Lined with beach front restaurants and bars, the fire shows are great entertainment and the music is pumping until the wee hours of the morning... every night.
Things To Do:
Boat excursions, snorkeling trips and scuba diving are the most popular activities on and around Phi Phi. You can take a long tail boat or speed boat out to other nearby islands, perhaps the most well known destination being Maya Bay, made famous by the movie The Beach with Leonardo Dicaprio. We went on a day trip boat excursion and loved it, we'll have that footage posted soon.
Thanks for watching!
xoxo,
Christine

Scuba Diving in Phi Phi Island, Krabi Thailand 2015
The Phi Phi Islands are in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. The islands are administratively part of Krabi province. Ko Phi Phi Don (ko meaning island in the Thai language) is the largest island of the group, and is the most populated island of the group, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Lee (or Ko Phi Phi Leh), are visited by many people as well. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai), are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea. The Islands are reachable by speedboats or Long-tail boats most often from Krabi Town or from various piers in Phuket Province.
Phi Phi Don was initially populated by Muslim fishermen during the late-1940s, and later became a coconut plantation. The Thai population of Phi Phi Don remains more than 80% Muslim. The actual population however, if counting laborers, especially from the northeast, is much more Buddhist these days. The population is between 2,000 to 3,000 people (2013).
The islands came to worldwide prominence when Ko Phi Phi Leh was used as a location for the 2000 British-American film The Beach. This attracted criticism, with claims that the film company had damaged the island's environment, since the producers bulldozed beach areas and planted palm trees to make it resemble description in the book,[1] an accusation the film's makers contest. An increase in tourism was attributed to the film's release, which resulted in increases in waste on the Islands, and more developments in and around the Phi Phi Don Village. Phi Phi Lee also houses the Viking Cave, where there is a thriving industry harvesting edible bird's nest.
Ko Phi Phi was devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004, when nearly all of the island's infrastructure was destroyed. As of 2010 most, but not all, of this has been restored.

Controversy arose during the making of the film The Beach due to 20th Century Fox bulldozing and landscaping the natural beach setting of Ko Phi Phi Lee to make it more paradise-like. The production altered some sand dunes and cleared some coconut trees and grass to widen the beach. Fox set aside a fund to reconstruct and return the beach to its natural state. Nevertheless, lawsuits were filed as many believed the damage to the ecosystem is permanent and restoration attempts failed.
The lawsuits dragged on for years. In 2006, Thailand's supreme court upheld an appeal court ruling that the filming had harmed the environment and ordered that damage assessments be made. Defendants in the case included 20th Century Fox and some Thai government officials.Maya Bay is popular for diving, and has become even more popular after the 2000 movie The Beach was filmed there. According to the Lonely Planet's guidebook Thailand, the 2004 tsunami dramatically improved the look of Maya Bay's beachfront. The high waves had cleaned up the beach and removed all the landscaping the Fox production team had added.
The main dive sites are at Loh Samah, Maya Bay entrance and Palong Bay, and are often combined with diving at Ko Bida Noi, a rocky outcrop some 500 meters south of Loh Samah. Relaxing on Heavenly Thai Island Ko Phi Phi
I am living and working in Vietnam, Saigon for three months. While I work during the week I take the chance to travel around Vietnam and neighbouring countries almost every weekend. Those daytrips are not only a lot of fun, but also quite interesting. So I figured I would make a not so short video covering each trip.
Ko Phi Phi is an island group in the very south of Thailand. It has wonderfull white beaches, clear blue water and lots of nature. Snorkling and diving reveals an astonishing underwater world with lots of colorfull fishes and corals.
Please let me know what you like and what to improve.
