Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown - Canada HD Travel Channel
Prince Edward Island is Canada's smallest province. Prince Edward Island is also a popular destination for U.S. Americans. The European appearance of the landscape combined with the long sandy beaches in the north attracts a lot of tourists every year. The interior of the island is marked by agriculture and livestock. Besides grain, many potatoes, as well as vegetables, are cultivated.
In all the urban regions of Canada you find golf courses. Golf is far more popular than in Germany. The family excursion on Sundays often leads to a golf course where the smallest ones are already encouraged and taught.
Our destination on P.E.I. is Charlottetown, the cradle of Canada.
The Province House, today officially named Confederation Centre Art Gallery and Museum, was the location of the historic conference of 1864, which led to the founding of the Federation of British colonies, where the essential element was an own constitution.
Since the 60s, the Confederation Centre of the Arts is a cultural center, with a museum on the history of the colonies, art galleries and a library.
The Fanningbank building is the seat of the governor, who is the representative of the Queen with mainly representative tasks. The actual government functions are carried out by the Premier.
Next to the Fanningbank building is the Beaconsfield Historic House, often described as the most beautiful building of the town. It was built in 1877 by a shipowner who sold it after his bankruptcy to a photographer. Today it is open to the public.

In allen urbanen Regionen Kanadas begegnet man Golfplätzen.

Fort Amherst National Historic Site - PEI
I was pleasantly surprised with the trail network available at Fort Amherst National Historic Site. Because of the small size of the property, the total distance is short, but the views are scenic, the system is as extensive as possible, and the trails are in excellent condition. This is a great place for a family to walk, picnic, and learn a little history.
Archaeology at Port-la-Joye NHS
Port-La-Joye-Fort Amherst is rich in history of 4 cultures; the Mi'Kmaq, the French, the Acadians, and the British. Archaeological digs at the site help us to better understand how these people lived.
The Young Archaeologists Program started in 2008, and allows grade 6 students a rare chance to help Parks Canada archaeologists and staff to dig up artefacts, clean them and categorize them. Students learn about Port-La-Joye-Fort Amherst and its history, and learn about archaeology as well.

No sé, yo me he quedado a cuadros... XD
En fin...

April Fool's Storm 2014
Storm-weary Islanders were not amused by Mother Nature's April fool's joke Tuesday when yet another blizzard swept through the region. Charlottetown residents and snow-clearing crews didn't even wait for the snow to stop falling before attempting to cut a swath through it Tuesday afternoon.

SUMMARY
=======
The name of Canada has been in use since the founding of the French colony of Canada in the 16th century. The name originates from a Saint-Lawrence Iroquoian word kanata (or canada) for settlement, village, or land. It is pronounced in English and [kanadɑ] in standard Quebec French. In Inuktitut, one of the official languages of the territory of Nunavut, the First Nations word (pronounced [kanata]) is used, with the Inuktitut syllabics ᑲᓇᑕ.
The first French colony of Canada, which formed one of several colonies within New France, was set up along the Saint Lawrence River and the northern shores of the Great Lakes. Later the area became two British colonies, called Upper Canada and Lower Canada until their union as the British Province of Canada in 1841. Upon Confederation in 1867, the name Canada was officially adopted for the new Dominion, which was commonly referred to as the Dominion of Canada until after World War II.
