In this video I visit Beamish Museum in County Durham, north east England. It's an open air musuem with a pit village, home farm, 1900s town, steam railway and so much more. It's an absolutely brilliant day out, and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Beamish, the North of England Open Air Museum is an open-air museum located at Beamish, near the town of Stanley, County Durham, England. The museum's guiding principle is to preserve an example of everyday life in urban and rural North East England at the climax of industrialisation in the early 20th century.
Much of the restoration and interpretation is specific to the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, together with portions of countryside under the influence of industrial revolution in 1825. On its 300 acres (120 ha) estate it utilises a mixture of translocated, original and replica buildings; a huge collection of artifacts, working vehicles and equipment; as well as livestock and costumed interpreters.
The museum has received a number of awards since it opened its present site to visitors in 1972 and has been influential on other living museums. It is a significant educational resource, and helps to preserve some traditional north-country and rare livestock breeds.

Although our B & B was at Whitby we travelled up to County Durham to Re - Visit one of the Best Working Museums in the UK ,It was the dream of one man to save as many important buildings as possible from demolition , Most was taken down brick by brick then rebuilt at Beamish creating a whole town with a Farm ,High St , Colliery Railway Station and much more , This video is just a taster too much to list here ! you really need to see it for yourself and 2 days !
Beamish Museum - 'Great North Steam Fair' - 12/04/2019
Beamish: The Living Museum Of The North opened in 1972 with the aim of preserving and replicating country life in North East England from the industrial revolution through to the 1930s. Despite living only 40 minutes drive away from the landmark, the last time i visited was back in 2006! Of course, steam played an integral role in technological development in the late 19th century, so several rail networks were constructed inside museum grounds. These include Rowley Station, the 1825 Waggonway and the Pit Village Colliery, and the only time to see all three sites in action is during the 'Great North Steam Fair'.
Held over four consecutive days in April, the event is a celebration of all things steam, but also branches out into other forms of transport such as cars, wagons, motorcycles and Beamish's own tramway. Several guest vehicles were brought in especially for the event. These included two visiting trams and a steam-driven car, but the star guests were as it happens the smallest!
No. 3 'River Irt' and No. 6 'Katie' made special appearances from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. The duo ran top-and-tailed with a passenger coach on an especially-laid 15 gauge line in the Pit Village, running alongside the standard gauge colliery railway's operation fleet of Lewin 0-4-0ST No. 18 and Wrightson 0-4-0 VBGT 'Coffee Pot No. 1'.
Also in action was a replica of 'Puffing Billy' on the 1825 waggonway and Peckett B3 0-6-0ST 2000 at the beautifully restored Rowley Station.
Unfortunately, the sheer amount of action (over 140 vehicles in service) and Beamish's 'no tripods' policy made filming very difficult, as well as the huge crowds and poor vantage points. Therefore, i was only able to film the colliery circuit and Rowley shuttles throughout the day.

The Coolest Museum in the World
The Open-World Time Capsule. This is Beamish Open Air Museum, and it's like an open-world video game set during the Industrial Revolution. You can go inside and explore all the buildings, and interact with the hundred or so actor who work around the park, in character / costume. It's so cool!
This is a sort of Bonus Great British Adventure I filmed during summer. This place is only a couple of miles from the Angel of the North, and I really wanted to make a video about it, although it didn’t fit with any of the A-Z themes. So here it is.
