Bear Mountain Wind Park - Dawson Creek, British Columbia
The Bear Mountain Wind Park, located west of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, was British Columbia's first operational wind operating wind farm. In October 2009 the Park was commissioned and fully connected to the B.C. power grid. Today it delivers enough clean, renewable electricity to power most of B.C.'s South Peace region. The power from the project is sold to BC Hydro under a 25-year contract.
Bear Mountain Wind Park features a single row of 34 3-MW Enercon E-82 wind turbine generators. Each turbine is 78-metres tall to the hub. The turbines are placed at minimum, 160-metres apart along the ridge of Bear Mountain. The site, which covers approximately 25 hectares, is still used for cattle grazing and by the public for hiking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and other recreational activities.

Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association Kids Program 2019, Dawson Creek, BC
These kids were still out skiing on Saturday and Sunday in -20C (without windchill factor). We had fires going at 2 warming huts about 1.5 km apart to keep them warm. Lots of fun had by all! Check us out at nordicski.ca or on Facebook Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association in Dawson Creek, BC.

Mt. Stimson Ski Tour
Day four of an epic trip. Our group of six finished Glacier National Park's 40-mile Nyack Loop in nine days, but we wished we would have lingered here longer. Stimson Creek drainage blew our minds- very few have been on the north flanks of Stimson and Pinchot, especially in winter. The skiing was fantastic, and Conor O'Niel and I made the first descent of one of the unnamed glaciers in the Park. Unfortunately, we were told by rangers that by the time we got it officially named, it would be gone.
