Hiking the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: Hammock Camping Grand Sable to Munising
The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is probably one of the most beautiful and diverse areas I've had the opportunity to hike. This must be one of the best hikes in Michigan and it was gorgeous to go backpacking in this area. The trail from Grand Sable visitor's center to Munising visitor center is 42.4 miles long and treats you with great views of Lake Superior, dense woodland and forests and beautiful beaches. Our campsites for this trip were Au Sable East, Beaver Lake campground and Cliffs. We hammock camped each night and the mileage for the four day trip was (7.1 miles, 13.3 miles, 16.9 miles and then 5.1 miles).
One of the highlights of the trip was being able to wash up in Lake Superior. Was it cold? Yes!! I think the lower half of my body went numb after the first 2 minutes and I definitely wouldn't have tried this if the day wasn't warm.
Another highlight of the trip were the campsites. Not only were our sites great but we passed multiple others that would have been excellent. Of particular note were the Coves and Trapper's Lake camp grounds. From what I remember both had excellent water views and access to the beaches.

CRISP POINT LIGHT HOUSE
Crisp Point was one of five Lake Superior U.S. Life-Saving Service Stations along the coast between Munising and Whitefish Point. It is located about fourteen miles west of Whitefish Point. It was built in 1875 and became operational in 1876 as Life Saving Station Number Ten, of the U.S. Life-Saving Service District 10 (it was later part of District 11) . Crisp Point inherited its name from one of the Life Saving Station keepers, an iron-willed boatman named Christopher Crisp. The other four Life-Saving Stations were Vermillion Point (now Vermilion), Two Heart River, Deer Park (formerly Sucker River Station and Muskallonge Lake Station) and Grand Marais.
Crisp Point Lighthouse was first proprosed in 1896 and every year thereafter until finally approved in June of 1902. The land was purchased--fifteen acres--at a price of $30.00. The deed was dated May 21, 1903.

This meticulously hand crafted log home with 400 ftM/L of Huron Bay waterfront is the perfect Up North get away. With two brms and one large bath this cabin was built one log at a time down state and then perfectly reassembled on the 2.32-Acre M/L parcel. For your privacy it is off the grid. But with the generators and Propane powered stove and refrigerator as well as gas wall lights you will not be with out anything you need. The cabin is all wired for future electricity if desired. This is a turnkey sale. And the furniture, fixtures and decorations are really collectable. If you have company coming there is a nice Trapper cabin with a wood stove and bunk beds. A one-car custom built garage has a grill, and two high-end kayaks for your use. Even the Bob Cat on the edge of the loft stays.

Everything Cherry in Michigan plus Awesome Casino Camping
On this Airstream Life vLog, we take you along as we get some dinner and do some wine tasting in Glen Arbor Michigan. What a cute town! Our dry camping spot is only a few minutes from Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes which is why we decided to camp here.
In Glen Arbor, we start with a nice wine tasting before moving over to the Cherry Republic Public House. Yum! We have cherry based dinners, cherry based drinks and even cherry based ice cream for Steve. Have I mentioned that cherry is STeve's favorite fruit? Perfect!
Then after a night time walk where we are both a bit goofy (who talks about the names of dragon flys?), it's time for us to pack up and head out the next morning. On our way to our next camping location, we stop at Good Harbor Winery. How did we know we could stop? Google maps! We always check out the parking lots on Google Maps before deciding whether to attempt stopping with the Airstream. After a small quick wine tasting, we drive the last few minutes over to Leelanau Sands Casino where they have RV parking with 50amp electric for $10 a night. Score! We plan to spend a few days here to explore the wineries in this region before heading the 40 minutes south to Traverse City.
Stay tuned in our next video for fun & wine and then a HUGE change scary of plans...

Hummingbird haven surrounded by 1,800 acres in Arkansas
Each year, hummingbirds migrate to the gulf coast for winter. Lucky for us, the birds stop in Arkansas every spring - on their way back north. In this week's Discover Arkansas, Adam Bledsoe and Mariel Ruiz visited a hummingbird haven where you can hold one in the palm of your hand.
