This ride starts at the Junction of I-15 and US 89 ( US-91 ) at Brignham City, Utah. I've made a stop at Logan UT, then went trough the canyon eastbound. This road is the kind of road i love to go through, narrow, winding and challenging in the winter time. Then i took Utah State route 30 ( Wyoming State route 89 ) to US-30. Video ends at about 10 miles west of Kemmerer, Wyoming.
Exploring The Remote River Bends of Utah
In early September 2016, while on a road trip from Southern California to Colorado, I did some solo exploring in the wilderness of Utah. I saw this bend on a map, and wondered if I could get there. Quite a few thunder storms had just rolled through the area, and others were approaching, so there was a strong chance I'd be forced to turn around. As it turned out, none of the storms hit the area I was traveling through, so the road was dry.
There were quite a few obstacles, however, that would have made this location ill-advised for a Toyota Prius or Honda accord. I mention this only because it never cease to amaze me where people will attempt to drive such vehicles. Without Subaru's impressive AWD and a decent amount of clearance, I would have indeed decided to turn around sooner than later.
Anyways, the remoteness of the location was worth it. In fact, it was absolutely thrilling, and admittedly just a tiny bit scary. I grabbed a few photos I liked, and shot a timelapse of the sunset, but it was obvious that I was just barely scratching the surface at this beautiful location. I definitely plan to return an enjoy this location again some day. Thanks for joining me on this brief adventure!
