Hundreds celebrate Beaverbrook Gallery's expansion project
Several hundred people attended the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton, N.B. to take in the Off the Walls and BRB: Beaverbrook Renovation Blowout events Saturday, Jan. 23. The gallery will be closed to the public from January until sometime in May, 2016 for renovations.

For First Nation artist, activist, and musician Alan Syliboy, stories are the thread that ties the Mi'kmaq people together, making them aware of their identity and place in the world. In this major, multi-media installation inspired by the recently discovered Mi'kmaq legend of The Stone Canoe, Syliboy tells the story of the Thunder Maker. Directly related to a new graphic novel created by the artist and published by Gaspereau Press, it features among its various components a circle of illustrated panels based on the childhood of Little Thunder (Kaqtukwaqsis), whose mother teaches him stories that have been passed down from generation to generation (

Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery to Host Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery
The County of Lambton's Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery has been selected as one of the locations on the North American tour of Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. The Fredericton-based provincial gallery boasts one of the finest and most important holdings of British art in North America.
The exhibition will be on display to the public at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery from September 23, 2015 through January 3, 2016 and includes 75 masterworks from the permanent collection of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, including British paintings and drawings from the Georgian and Modern periods, seminal Canadian works and an international collection including Salvador Dalί's Santiago El Grande.
Representative of the distinctive quality of the permanent collection, Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery features historical works of art by world-renowned artists such as Gainsborough, Reynolds, Constable, Delacroix, Sargent, Sickert, Sisley, Sutherland, Turner, Freud, and Dalί, and by prominent historical Canadian artists, such as Krieghoff, Morrice, Harris, and Carr.
Organized and circulated by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, with the support of the Museums Assistance Program at Canadian Heritage, presenting sponsor TD bank Group and supporting sponsor McInnes Cooper, the exhibition presents the remarkable legacy of the multi-millionaire business tycoon, newspaper publisher, politician, personal confidant of Sir Winston Churchill, and great philanthropist, Lord Beaverbrook, or Sir William Maxwell (Max) Aitken (1879-1964).
Tour of February exhibit
I, Nikki Thériault, will bring you on a tour of Gallery 78's February 2011 exhibit. This particular exhibit honours the Canada Winter Games as well as the National Artist's Program. It includes unique pieces from one of the artist chosen to represent Team NB at the Games, Jessie Babin. Enjoy!
