An Australian fishing in Singapore - Bedok Jetty and East Coast Park
Singapore session 1
My first time abroad and, while my wife rested, I snuck out for a fish. I got around using a Grab scooter and headed to East Coast Park. As is often the case in a new place, fishing was tough, but it was fun to get out on my own and explore. I went a little off course and got a little wet, but it got me keen for another session.
Bedok Jetty Fishing: HalfBeak Fishing / Sagai Feeding Frenzy
Welcome back to yet another episode of AJVM FISHING ADVENTURE! This time we will teach you on how to use “Sabiki Rig” to catch Halfbeaks. The most common way of catching Halfbeaks is through float rig with 2 hooks and bread as bait. However, we discover that by playing your Sabiki Rig on top water, it attracts them which execute the hassle of using bread as bait. The arrival of baby anchovies also triggered the feeding frenzy of this huge Longrakered trevally also known as Sagai in Singapore. An ingenious way of landing one of these Sagai is by using 40lb wire line with 5 treble hooks “Fowl hook technique”.

Woodlands Waterfront, is a park that hugs the northern coastline and consists a 1.5km long waterfront promenade. The park is about 11-hectare and one of the two main attraction are a large playground that will caters to both young and old and a 400m ex-naval jetty that supports a variety of recreational activities and community events. It is also linked to Admiralty Park and a 25km Northern Explorer Park Connector Network.
The 400m jetty is one of the longest coastal jetties in Singapore that offers park visitors sweeping view the Straits of Johor. However, this jetty has a ambience that is vastly different from the Bedok Jetty in the East Coast Park as it is essentially a water channel between Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.
