Life Inside Barwon Prison
A look at life inside Victoria's most secure correctional facility. Opened in 1990, Barwon Prison is home to some of the state's and the country's most dangerous prisoners. The story goes behind the bars to provide a fascinating insight into the day-to-day management of one of our most well-known prisons, including a look inside the high-security Melaleuca Unit, a prison within a prison.

SOLD!! - The Real Deal -- Heritage Home in Historic Hamlet
This extensively renovated heritage home has been sitting in its current location in Repton for around 125 years. Having received extensive renovations between 2008 and now, the time has come for the current owners to sell. This three-bedroom home has hardwood frame, floors and cladding with two bedrooms upstairs and a third bedroom downstairs ideal for guests or teenagers. With polished timber floors, high ceilings, timber sash windows and a covered back deck overlooking the Bellingen Valley, it has character not found in modern homes and is ready for you to move in.
Repton was settled in the late 1800's when it was home to a pub, general store and post office, whilst today it is a lovely quiet village just 15 minutes drive from Coffs Harbour or Bellingen and 10 minutes drive to pristine, often deserted beaches. Go surfing at patrolled north beach, go beach fishing at Tuckers rock or enjoy all the amenity of the Bellingen River just 200m away.
Of course, we arrive to the white picket fence and then we step across the small covered front verandah into the sunroom (enclosed verandah) and down the hall to the lovely open plan family/dining/kitchen area (13x5m). The kitchen features timber slab bench tops with timber cupboards, original timber shelves, a classic St George electric oven and cooktop as well as a double stainless steel sink. The living room features some original leadlight windows and both the living and the dining area enjoy direct access through old French doors to the covered back deck and sweeping views of the Bellingen Valley and the eastern seaboard to Urunga and beyond.
The bathroom is central and offers shower, small vanity and dual flush toilet, while both upstairs bedrooms enjoy polished timber floors, high ceilings and lovely garden views. Downstairs we find the third bedroom/guestroom with an additional living area/TV room and direct access to the low maintenance, well-drained back yard. Or you may prefer to make this area the master bedroom suite and convert the adjacent laundry to a generous ensuite bathroom.
Hunter St in Repton is a no through road with only 10 houses that are 90% owner occupied. It's a quiet and friendly neighbourhood/street with a lovely relaxing feel that is an easy 10 to 20 minute drive to Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Urunga. Within 10 minutes drive there are plenty of beaches and the Bellingen River is just 200m away, combining to provide a vast variety of water activities including fishing, swimming, water skiing, surfing, sailing, canoeing and more.
The gardens here are well-established and low maintenance and include two mature orange trees, together with a lemon and mandarin tree, There's a double carport for off street parking and the trouble you're likely to have living here is that you won't want to go out. The elevated position of this home means that it enjoys cool summer breezes and river glimpses from a number of places and in winter you can snuggle up around the slow combustion fire and forget about the rest of the world as you enjoy your very own heritage home, yes....the real deal.

Hidden Bendigo - Bendigo Cemetery Chapel
Historic staircase leads way to project
THE redevelopment of the old Bendigo gaol into a theatre has thrown up a surprise, revealing a historic staircase and passage under the main wing.
The staircase leads to an unlined earth tunnel running below the Sandhurst Wing, about 20 metres long and one metre across.
Deputy Premier and Regional and Rural Development Minister Peter Ryan joined Planning Minister Matthew Guy this week to inspect the works and check out the find.
Mr Ryan said the staircase was used for food and inmate transport during the 1860s.
This is truly a remarkable discovery [and] underscores the significance of this historical and economically important redevelopment project, which will resurrect the 150 year-old gaol as a state-of-the-art community theatre, he said.
The site is undergoing a $25.8 million redevelopment to build the Bendigo Sandhurst Community Theatre.
Greater Bendigo council City Futures director Stan Liacos said workers went in search of the staircase after rumours of its existence.

Haunted Stone House ..Ghost Box Session
Kim and I did a quick ghost box session at the Haunted Stone House...it was an interesting visit, starting with getting through all the weeds and brush getting to the house. We both love the location of the house...very isolated and quiet, with the exception of a 4-wheeler passing by on the road..
