Mundaring's Beelu 4WD Circuit: Part 1.
Looking for somewhere to take your 4x4? Beelu National Park is well worth a trip and it's only 45 minutes from the city!
The park is ideal for beginner 4WDers however some sections are not suitable for 2WD or 4WDs with low clearance.
I've made it my mission to map out an off road circuit using the tracks that run through the forest North of the Mundaring Weir. There are numerous tracks that intersect each other and make for a fun day of exploring.
This episode I attempted most of the track however i'm going to have to come back to complete it, (this is part one of a two part series.) Full trip notes will be provided in the next episode.

Mundaring's Beelu 4WD Circuit: Part 2.
Heading back to Beelu National Park in Mundaring with a plan to link up a few 4x4 tracks that I know of and think are perfect for beginner four wheel drivers. I'd have really liked to have finished this scenic drive on this trip however, I unfortunately discovered that the off road track is gated at one end. It looks like i'm going to have to go back to the drawing board and rethink this route, that said, the Perth hills is an ideal place to take your 4WD off roading near Perth. So, if your looking for something to do in Mundaring, give Beelu National Park a go and let me know how you go! Oh, and I promise to post detailed driving instructions as well as GPS waypoints in my next episode.....Promise!

Shire of Mundaring
Nestled in the heart of the Perth Hills, 40 minutes east of Perth, is Mundaring. Transport yourself from the hustle and bustle of the city to a place where you can be totally immersed in nature.
One third of the Shire is classified as State Forest with a bountiful selection of trails to enjoy including six of the State's Top Trails. The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail stretches 59kms through the Shire linking the charming settlements that evolved alongside the old railway line. Bibbulmun Track passes through Mundaring on its way to Albany in the south-west and the Munda Biddi off-road cycle trail head is located in Mundaring Community Sculpture Park, making Mundaring an ideal starting point to enjoy some of the region's stunning scenery.
A visit to Mundaring Weir and the museum at No.1 Pump Station is a must. Although the project was completed more than 100 years ago it remains one of the longest freshwater pipelines in the world and a starting point for the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail and Kep Track.
Other attractions to discover include first-class restaurants, cafes and boutique wineries, a famous pizzeria, open-air markets, art galleries, outdoor concerts and heritage-listed hotels, inns and taverns oozing with country charm. Idyllic picnic spots at Lake Leschenaultia, John Forrest and Beelu National Parks, plus many nature-based activities can complete your Hills experience. There's also a range of accommodation on offer, whether it's a romantic luxury hideaway or a quiet camping spot that appeals.
Mundaring Visitor Centre is located in The Old School in the heart of Mundaring and the best starting point to explore the region.

171007 Beelu National Park
A lovely walk once again in Beelu National Park. An easy walk through the bush and viewing the Mundaring Dam. We wanted to walk the O'Connor trail took us a while to find the sign. It was so high that you just couldn't see it from the car and as it was metal not easy to see against the tree.

Mundaring State forest trip
Day trip at the State forest. Started raining all afternoon, the tracks became very slippery. What had been a mild obstacle in the dry gotten 3x harder in the wet. Great day for a wheel!

Kalamunda - Perth, Australia MTB New Year 2018 Adventure
Watch the full-length video:
On the 31st of December 2017, we set out on a small adventure. Our goal was to find an activity to finish the best year ever (2017) while also being an epic start to 2018. The plan was to spend two days Mountain Biking around Mundaring, explore the area and camp overnight nearby. Here is our adventure in 60 seconds.
Located less than 45 mins from Perth CBD is Mundaring Weir is situated in the Beelu National Park. Apart from supplying the Goldfields with much of its drinking water it is the start of the Biberman Trail and has over 1000 km of MTB trails. These are maintained by the wonderful Kalamunda MTB Collective. The area has many historical sites and some of the most stunning scenery in Australia. Everyone we met was warm and friendly, it was a truly an amazing adventure. A great way to start 2018!
I would like to thank the following for being absolutely awesome!
