Great food, great wine, great places, great people. Come with us to Marlborough and experience a taste of the South Island - it's a beautiful place.
'B' Coy 6 RAR and New Zealand infantry training DPR/TV/294
An Anzac force in the training area of 'Little Malaya' near Oxford, in the Kikoura Ranges of New Zealand's South Island, is holding an exercise called 'Tranquilliser'. It is in the form of South-East Asian operations in border patrols in Malaysia. The units taking part in the exercise are the 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment and the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment and the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, who have been intergrated into an Anzac force during the 1965 TASMAN exchange exercise. The troops are in a heavy forest area just below the snowline of the Kaikoura Ranges. Snow had fallen in the early stage of the exercise and the Australian troops adjusted themselves remarkably well. Patrols have been searching for the 'enemy' during daylight hours and mount an offensive during the early stages of darkness. As in previous exchange exercises the Anzac forces have been able to co-ordinate smoothly in various combat roles, as well as many friendships formed.

Day 12 - Kaikoura to Christchurch
Transcript, credits + links
Day 12 was cold and, at times, depressing. The highlight was finding a cool bar called Goodbye Blue Monday. Sadly, that bar has now closed. We also had a look at my old flat and the place I used to work in 1999. I also tried to find a restaurant called Mainstreet, but it seemed to have disappeared. (Does anyone from Chch know what happened to Mainstreet? Did it close? Move? When?)
We also changed motorhomes. From day 1, we had this motorhome:
From day 12, we changed to this one:
Pretty much the same ... but the new one is longer, has another seat/bed, DVD player/screen, 4 elements etc.
