BEST KRAKOW BARS, CAFE & CLUBS | Dolne Mlyny | Poland Travel Vlog 2018
We found the best spot in Kraków for cafes, bars and clubs! Dolne Mlyny is what Krakow and Poland travel is all about! ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
An area called Dolne Mlyny around the Dolnych Mlynow (got the name wrong in the video) area has to be the spot for the best bars, best cafes and best clubs in Krakow - this place is honestly so cool. Even if you're not looking for a bar or club and just want a good restaurant and a casual scene then definitely check out Dolne Mlyny.
Poland continues to deliver gems like this, maybe it's just that Krakow has a new scene of cool bars and cafes developing, or maybe we're going to find it all over Poland - either way, the ' cafe scene ' as it's sometimes called is cool here and this vlog definitely shows that.

Beer Tasting 51: Zywiec from Poland
Dzień dobry! Stolat! I was introduced to Zywiec along with another beer called Okocim when I worked briefly in Poland back in 1990 and 1991. I was told the two were good quality household Polish piwo (beer) that I had to try. 'Mr. Zywiec' and I parted for a good 12+ years and then we had a reunion when they started to import my old Polski friend to British Columbia a few years back! Zywiec is a Polish larger. It came with a light straw colour and a nose of honey, citrus, grain and sweet corn syrup although I believe no corn was employed in this brew. The mouth feel is soft / smooth and the taste is grainy, faintly fruity and biscuity that resembles some of the low hopped Japanese beer. However, the hop presence is here in this one leaving a sharp, positive astringent finish. Pretty good! Till next time! do widzenia! cześć! (Rating 87-89 points by Michael Lam of the Beverage Review)

Polish Food and Beer Tour | Warsaw, Poland
We went on a three-hour walking tour of the best of Polish food and beer, sampling Polish soups, vodka, craft beer, and of course pierogi (dumplings). It was the best thing we'd done in Warsaw, mainly because of the group of strangers we met on the tour who quickly became friends.

PUMS Update 3: Tour of Grunwaldzka in Poland, for Future PUMS Students!
In this video, I share some personal updates about recent travel to Berlin, some info about legalizing your stay in Poland, and I give a tour down a street you’ll take to class almost every day during your first year! If you want to see what a morning in Poznan is like, this is your video. Thanks for dealing with my sore arm and scattered brain. ????
I’ve taken some time to compile my application and thought I would share a detailed overview of everything you’ll need to do/prepare in order to apply for temporary residence as a student! Especially since my ADHD in the video was REAL.
First, here are some basics about the appointment.
Website:
Go to the website and get a temporary stay appointment.
Address of building:
Wydział Spraw Obywatelskich i Cudzoziemców - Pl. Wolności 17; ground floor – entrance A
On the day of your appointment, check-in upon arrival and get a ticket from the machine using your confirmation number, which was sent to your email when you made your appointment (You’ll also have your fingerprints taken at your appointment, so don’t worry about getting those in advance).
Now. Here’s what you’ll need to prepare:
Four color photos, no smiling, with silhouette, in a specific size. Any photo lab here in Poznan will know what you need if you tell them it’s for a temporary stay card. There’s one on Grunwaldzka that costs about 30pln
Health insurance contract/proof of coverage of one year from appointment date OR an ongoing contract with NFZ (in Polish). Proof of payment recommended (also in Polish)
Proof of enrollment letter from university (ask Bogna for this) that says you’ve paid tuition and (if you live in dorms*) that you live on campus.
If you live in an apt* then a copy of your lease in Polish with contact info of your landlord included. Police may come check if you actually live there within a few weeks/months of submitting your app. Totally normal.
Photo copy of main passport page and ANY pages with visas or stamps as a result of travel. Preferably in color. B/W works just make sure they’re clear and crisp images/text please.
Completed application in Polish - found on their website. If you’re a student, you can ask your Polish teacher or a Polish speaking friend to go through this with you to make things easier!
Go to your bank in person 2-3 days before your appointment (no earlier than one week in advance) and do two things.
1. get proof of how much money you have here, stamped by bank and in Polish -check the website for required amount. It’s gotta be enough for a year of living here by their standards. For single students it’s 12,100 PLN. Married/with kids should check the website for more information.
2. Pay associated fee and also obtain proof of the transfer. The fee and account to transfer to are included below
PLN 340.00
and should be paid to:
Urząd Miasta Poznania
Wydział Finansowy
Oddział Pozostałych Dochodów Podatkowych i Niepodatkowych
ul. Libelta 16/20
61-706 Poznań
Bank: PKO BP S.A.
Bank account number: 94 1020 4027 0000 1602 1262 0763
That’s it! I recommend making a photocopy of everything in your application to keep for your records and to help with reapplying during your second year, but this should prepare you for your appointment and to successfully obtain your temporary stay card as a student in Poland!
Cheers!

Krakow Food and Vodka Tour - $16!!!
Krakow Food and Vodka Tour - $15!!!
We LOVE food tours. In our past (big-spending) life, we took them often when we traveled. They tend to be expensive, so we haven't done one lately.
Walkative offers lots of free walking tours (we took 2 of them!). They also have a few paid tours. We booked a Food and Vodka Walking Tour of Krakow. At 60 Polish zloty per person ($16USD), it was the cheapest one we've ever taken. We didn't expect much so we were blown away that it was as good as tours we've done for 4 times the price.
We visited 9 locations and tried 1-5 items in each spot. Our guide was informative and enthusiastic (and, it was her birthday!).
The tour was in English and we HIGHLY suggest it.
This is the tour link -
We tried...
-2 types of soup
-pickles and pickled new cabbage
-3 types of sausage
-a huge sweet strawberry
-3 kinds of cheese
-rye bread
-pork liver pate
-savory and sweet pierogies
-a local fruity drink
-poppyseed cake
-FIVE kinds of vodka (plain, elderflower, honey, cherry and caramelized sugar)
Since Amy doesn't drink much, Tim expected 10 small shots to himself. Surprise! Amy drank the last 4.
After a breakfast that was so yummy (at Charlotte), we returned that same night for our last night's dinner. A delicious day in Krakow.

Polish Food - Eating Pierogi taste test in Krakow, Poland
Join us for our favorite Polish food as we eat Pierogi in the form of a taste test (both savory and sweet) in Krakow, Poland.
We found a restaurant called Pierogarnia - Słowiańska Uczta on our first full day in Krakow after shopping for some groceries just across the street. We ended up eating there on a whim and what a pleasant surprise it was. The pierogi served at this restaurant are some of the best we've ever had and we ended up going back several times.
All in all we tried 40 different pierogi for this video including savory and dessert options. It was a feast of feasts.

Polish Food - Eating Pierogi taste test in Krakow, Poland travel food video transcript:
So it is our first day here in Poland in Krakow. In Krakow.
And anyways we've got Pierogi on our minds. We are going to get pierogies. Oh and we're so hungry. We even we're even crossing the river to go find it today. We've been willing to cross a river to go have pierogi. That shows how dedicated we are.
This is awesome. Like this is a gigantic menu just outside of the restaurant here.
So we are kicking off our first full day in Krakow with pierogies. What else?
The most popular Polish dish. This is something that everyone knows about. Even in Canada we've got like frozen pierogi. So it is popular.
They are not nearly as good as the freshly made ones. No. Here in Poland. But yeah. It is something that kind of we are kind of subsisting off of pierogies in the winter in Canada. Yes. When we were in Kingston a few years ago.
It is like a really hearty meal. You know when it is cold out and you just need something that is going to fill you up and sit there for a few hours. Pierogi always a good idea.
But it is summer here but we're still going to have them anyways. We're still having it. Yeah. And actually we had some yesterday at the train station but it was just like a quick little snack and it wasn't amazing.
This place literally specializes in them. This is their menu. And we spotted this place yesterday when we were heading to our apartment so we like we're coming back. We placed four orders.
And each order comes with 10 pierogi so that is 40 pierogies that we're going to be eating for just 2 of us. 20 each!
So 20 plump savory dumplings have showed up at our table.
So we ordered two savory kinds. I think the first one was the Ruskie. Ruskie or something which is the traditional one which is like mashed potatoes and cheese.
And the other one we got fancy. We got like mushrooms, feta and something else. No, wasn't it walnuts or something?
So yeah oh and it comes with like caramelized onions on top. Wow. So let's try this.
We ate 40. We ate 40 pierogi. I feel like we deserve a gold medal in like the gluttony olympics or something.
That was I wonder what the record is?
How many pierogies. Has one person ate. Did we just break a Guinness World Record here?
But that was pretty much the ultimate pierogi taste test. Two savories, two dessert pierogi. I mean if you're going to try Polish food you absolutely have to try pierogi. And we really lucked out with this place. We didn't find it in a guidebook or even a recommendation we just while we were getting groceries last night and we walked by it.
That is going past. Anyways, yeah that maybe they are coming to rescue me because my belly is about to explode.
But anyways yeah I think we'll be coming back here for sure. We've got a whole week ahead of us. We'll be coming back here for pleasure and uh yeah pierogi in Poland guys.
You've got to try it. And price point for this meal?
So it was 56 Zloty which roughly is 13 Euros and that included our two drinks and 40 pierogi.
Yeah, it was pretty good value as well. Now time for a nap. Time for an enormous siesta.
This is part of our Travel in Poland video series showcasing Polish food, Polish culture and Polish cuisine.
Gdansk top place too have a cheap lunch and beers and ice-cream alfresco style
