Walking - Historic Centre of Macau
The Historic Centre of Macao, also known as the Historic Centre of Macau (Chinese: 澳門歷史城區; Portuguese: O Centro Histórico de Macau), is a collection of over twenty locations that witness the unique assimilation and co-existence of Chinese and Portuguese cultures in Macau, a former Portuguese colony. It represents the architectural legacies of the city's cultural heritage, including monuments such as urban squares, streetscapes, churches and temples.
In 2005 the Historic Centre of Macau was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, making it the 31st designated World Heritage site in China. It was described by UNESCO as: with its historic street, residential, religious and public Portuguese and Chinese buildings, the historic centre of Macao provides a unique testimony to the meeting of aesthetic, cultural, architectural and technological influences from East and West, and ...it bears witness to one of the earliest and longest-lasting encounters between China and the West, based on the vibrancy of international trade.[1]

Taiwan investigates claim mainland Chinese officials illegally visited on ‘exchange programmes’

Taiwan prosecutors are investigating a case involving 10 people accused of illegally bringing at least 5,000 mainland Chinese citizens to the island between 2017 and 2019 on “exchange programmes” using allegedly falsified documents reportedly involving at least 20 travel agencies. Among those reportedly allowed into Taiwan were senior mainland officials who would otherwise be barred from entry without a strict screening process. Taipei requires mainland visitors to undergo screenings or to provide financial information via exchange programmes before they travel across the Taiwan Strait.

Techno is getting hot in Shenzhen
In the young, high-tech city of Shenzhen, partygoers are starting to come out in droves for techno music. At the forefront of the movement are new venues like Oil Club, which is attracting a wave of international acts to the southern metropolis.
Compared with the scene in Europe, of course, China is just “a baby,” say the owners of Oil. But the growing local fanbase, combined with a crop of local music makers and tinkerers, is closing the gap fast.

Macau/澳门 - Main Attractions, Grand Lisboa & Wynn - Part 2
After our little Cotai Strip excursion we headed back to Macau's peninsula to breathe in the cultural past of this little Portuguese colony. Here you have a lot of Macau's tourist attractions. I usually start at the Grand Lisboa and walk towards Senado Square with its heritage buildings and southern European atmosphere (except the crowds of people). Here is the Historic Centre of Macau which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. From there we made our way up to the Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral and Mount Fortress/Monte Forte. Along the way you can also buy Macanese Pork Buns or the famous Egg Tarts, besides grabbing a lot of dried beef and almond cakes for free. On the way down I usually choose a different way, passing by old neighborhoods, beautiful little side streets, churches and a cemetery until reaching the start/stop point at Grand Lisboa again. After that it is time to get a cool breeze of air condition in one of the casinos and grab some refreshing (free) beverage/beer as well.

Breaking News - Marriott China site shut over Tibet error
China shuts Marriott's website over Tibet, Taiwan errorChina has shut down the websites of Marriot International for a week, after the firm listed Tibet and others as separate countries. The hotel group has apologised for the error and said it did not support separatist movements in China. Tibet, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau were listed as individual nations in an online survey sent to customers.Beijing considers self-ruling Taiwan to be a breakaway province and Tibet is governed as an autonomous region.Hong Kong and Macau are both special administrative regions of China. Marriott was also chastised after one of the firm's social media accounts liked a post made by a group supporting a separatist Tibet.Chinese media is reporting that some travellers are cancelling Marriott reservations in response.'Respect Chinese sovereignty'China is usually quick to respond to any actions or statements it deems supportive of separatist movements, especially related to Tibet and Taiwan. The Shanghai Cyberspace Administration said it would also shut down Marriott's mobile phone app as part of its punishment for the Mandarin-language survey. But having being closed earlier, the app now appears to be functioning.Authorities also have asked Marriott to conduct a thorough check of all its online material in China, and to address public concerns about the error. On Thursday the hotel group's chief executive Arne Sorenson issued an apology, saying his firm respects and supports Chinese sovereignty and its territorial integrity. We don't support anyone who subverts the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China and we do not intend in any way to encourage or incite any such people or groups, Mr Sorenson said.Unfortunately, twice this week, we had incidents that suggested the opposite. The statement added that the company would take necessary disciplinary action against staff involved, which may include termination.Mr Sorenson has previously described China as his firm's biggest market. While Marriott has over 100 hotels in the country under different brands, it is also keen to profit from the swelling number of Chinese people travelling internationally. Last year it launched a joint travel venture with China's ecommerce giant Alibaba.
Chinese authorities shut Marriott's website after the hotel lists Tibet and Taiwan as separate countries.
