UK Beer Debate 2018 - Part 2 of 3
The UK Beer Debate 2018 featured a panel made up of journalists, authors, brewers, bar and pub managers. Recorded live at Green Duck Beer Co in Stourbridge on the 2nd of December 2018.
The topic under discussion in part 2, is why are so many pubs and breweries closing?
Big beer influence? Drinking habits? Health studies/charity abstention?
Statistics show young people are just not drinking as much alcohol.... will this just be a situation that gets worse and worse?
Is a situation where we have fewer bars and breweries be a good thing? Will the cream rise or will it be the detritus?

The UK Beer Debate 2018 featured a panel made up of journalists, authors, brewers, bar and pub managers. Recorded live at Green Duck Beer Co in Stourbridge on the 2nd of December 2018.
The topic under discussion in this part 1 is taprooms, festivals and bars.
Along with 'What do drinkers like in a taproom?' - what do brewers think of as a great taproom? Also what makes a good beer fest for both brewers and drinkers? Brewer-lead bars or volunteer run festivals ...... ?
Unfortunately there is some interference on Tony's microphone at the start which does clear up.

The UK Beer Debate 2018 featured a panel made up of journalists, authors, brewers, bar and pub managers. Recorded live at Green Duck Beer Co in Stourbridge on the 2nd of December 2018.
The topic under discussion in part 3, is Cloudwater - Has a corner been turned?
Cask beer has come in for some bad press recently, with quality generally deteriorating and prices reaching a low point. Many young breweries have chosen to produce only keg, being able to ask a fair price for a quality product.
Craft beer is still a small percentage of overall beer sales in the UK though - if it's good quality, cask beer is a superb product! Are drinkers more prepared now to pay what a beer is worth, or are there still enough people wanting a 'pint at a price' to support the cheap '£50 a cask' brewers?
With Cloudwater announcing the return of their beers in cask, are we about to see an upturn in the quality and price for cask beer, and could that at last see the demise of poorly kept, poorly produced cheap beers?

Violet Underground
In 2019, The Wild Beer Co. and Firestone Walker Barrelworks once again pull two continents together for the uniquely imaginative Violet Underground Cross-Atlantic Wild Ale. To create this cuvee, we tapped into native Somerset Wild, a proprietary wild yeast used solely by Wild Beer Co at their facility in England. Sunrise Raspberries and a youthful batch of Bretta Weisse were aged in French oak Foeders. This aromatic concoction was then blended with a mystical fermentation of French candied violet petals and Somerset wild saison. The resulting potion is bursting with aromas of ripe fresh fruit and hints of botanical spice. All are anchored together with an expressive native wild yeast. A quenching acidity and lively carbonation round out the collaboration.
Sam takes a 50pint Keg of Ale!
Sam stubbs, previously seen on such videos as...well need i say ;) He finds a barrel of boddingtons, and we poar it over him. Sorry for the poor quality, i didn't film it.
