STORYLINE
Lebanon's army battled al-Qaida-inspired fighters in a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon on Tuesday as reports emerged of a possible ceasefire deal with the militants holed up in Nahr el-Bared on the outskirts of the port city of Tripoli.
In Tuesday's fighting at Nahr el-Bared, a barrage of six shells at a time were heard as the army pounded the camp. Black and white plumes of smoke were seen rising from inside.
A military official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to make statements to media, said a soldier was killed in battles earlier in the morning with Fatah Islam gunmen.
A security official, also requesting anonymity for the same reason, said another soldier was killed shortly before midday by sniper fire.
According to a Palestinian Muslim cleric who has been mediating between the authorities and the Fatah Islam fighters inside the camp, the deal would include a ceasefire, to be followed by the militants' disarmament and surrender.
The cleric, Sheik Mohammed Haj, told the official Lebanese news agency that the militants agreed to conditions of his Palestinian Scholars Association and that he would present the proposal to the army on Wednesday.
Sheik Mohammed did not offer more details, but the private New TV station said the conditions also include return of refugees, takeover of the camp by Palestinian factions and Fatah Islam's dissolution.
Previous mediation efforts by the cleric, who was slightly wounded during one of his trips into the camp, came up against the militants' pledge to fight to death rather than comply by the army's request that they surrender.
Tuesday's deaths brought the army's fatalities to 74 since fighting first erupted on 20 May, when police raiding suspects in a bank robbery clashed with Fatah Islam.
At the beginning of the fighting, Fatah Islam - a group of Islamic militants from various Arab nationalities that built its power structure in the camp in recent months - burst out of Nahr el-Bared, attacked Lebanese army positions and ambushed soldiers, killing 27 in attacks condemned by Lebanese and Palestinians alike.
At least 60 militants were killed in the early days of the fighting, with officials saying many more died later on. The militants have given a much lower death toll, but contact with them recently has not been possible. At least 20 civilians were reported killed.
The army has made steady gains on the ground in recent days. On occasion, it levelled top floors of buildings to root out militant snipers, and engaged in door-to-door combat to try break the stubborn resistance of the militants who operate from behind fortified positions and target the military with rockets and booby traps.
The battle to drive the Islamic militants out has led to significant damage to parts of the camp, once home to some 30,000 Palestinian refugees.
Only about 5,000 remain inside, after most residents fled to the nearby Beddawi refugee camp.
In Tripoli, families held a sit-in outside the Red Cross headquarters to express their anger for the loss of two Red Cross members last week.

Tomorrow We Will See Documentary on Lebanese artists
Tomorrow We Will See offers a window into how ten artists in Lebanon are using art as a tool to question sectarian divisions while encouraging freedom of thought.
Against the backdrop of Lebanon’s scars from wars, and socio-political scars created from sectarian divisions, Lebanese artists continue to contribute to the creative community despite the uncertainties of what tomorrow may bring.
A rock band's thought-provoking lyrics, a poet's description of time shrinking, an architect's experimental manipulation of space, a novelist's language of the female body, and a painter's reflections on his choice of colors, reveal the process by which the featured artists transform ideas, sketches, spaces into vibrant and dynamic works of art while describing what the expression ‘Bukra Minshouf’ (‘Tomorrow We Will See’) means to them.

Lives on Hold in Lebanon
Beirut's Shatila camp was built in 1949 for 3,000 Palestinian refugees, but now hosts up to 40,000 people, including many Syrians displaced by war. Appalling conditions and bleak prospects for the future leave families longing for their lost homes. Three generations of a Palestinian family describe how the camp has evolved into an urban slum. A Syrian father recalls the shelling of his home and the dangers that drove him to flee the country with his four young children. Learn more about this VR series at forcedfromhome.com

Lighting and projection setup for INSIGHT restaurant and club in Moscow City
The INSIGHT restaurant and nightclub, unmatched in Russia in terms of its equipment and the scale of integrative solutions, is located in one of the towers of the OKO skyscraper, at the height of 354 meters. We had worked for over a year to create a comprehensive multimedia and lighting solution that makes it possible to momentarily change the restaurant’s appearance and visually transform its space. This effect was achieved through conjunction of lighting equipment scripts and combination of translucent concrete and video mapping on the walls and pillars.
We came up with the concept that was used for development of engineering and multimedia solutions, selected equipment, and designed and manufactured 14 customized switchboards for managing the multimedia complex. The appearance of more than 1,000 sq. m of floor space is managed by the single system that includes over 1,200 individually controlled lamps, 32 multimedia projectors, 3 media servers, 2 moving LED screens on tubing cables, and a sound system. The control system runs automatically in accordance with previously input scripts, and can be managed remotely.
After creating the technological setup, we began to design video mapping content for the pillars and the textured walls. It is augmented with internal illumination of the pillars with the help of LED fixtures poured over with translucent concrete. Individually controlled lamps, integrated into the custom-built bar counter and furniture, create an additional ambiance, blending with the breathtaking 84th-floor panorama view of Moscow City.
The project envisions two operating modes for the lighting and projection equipment — in a restaurant format and nightclub format. In the daytime, when the space operates as a restaurant, only architectural lighting is used. It automatically switches after a certain amount of time, emphasizing different parts of the room. In the nighttime, when it becomes a club, architectural lighting is augmented with projection video mapping. Nightclub operating mode also envisions a two-hour multimedia show, the high point of the nightly entertainment program. The show additionally activates stage lighting, which is integrated and synchronized with the other elements of lighting and multimedia setup.
