Restoration Starts for China's Dazu Rock Carvings
A large-scale, systematic restoration project has been started for the Dazu Rock Carvings, located in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, since Saturday.
In China, the Dazu Rock Carvings enjoys the same fame as the Dunhuang Grottoes. It is a World Heritage site, boasting 50,000 statues that are dated from the 9th century to the 13th century. But in recent decades, it has faced a severe task of renovation.
