China becomes leading world exporter of cultural goods: UNESCO
A UNESCO report showed that China has became the world's leading exporters of cultural goods in 2013, outpacing the United States.
The report by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) pointed out that the total value of China's cultural exports stood at 60.1 billion U.S. dollars, more than double that of the United States' 27.9 billion dollars.

Heavier than 3 blue whales! A key component of China' s advanced nuke reactor has been put in place in Shandong Province.
The jumbo part has the weight of 610 tons, the equivalent of about 3.5 blue whales.
Builders say the reactor can shut down safely in the event of an emergency without causing core meltdown or large leak of radiation.
Protecting Hui-style architecture in China's Anhui Province
China's Anhui Province has made great efforts to protect its extraordinary ancient architecture. Known as Hui-style architecture, it's seen throughout the city on residential houses, ancestral temples and academics of classical learning.
Qimen, a county within Huangshan City, held a millennial festival where villagers gathered to pick overgrown weeds along old houses.
Now we all live in new houses but we keep repairing the old ones. This custom provides a way of protecting the architecture. All the labor force in our village would participate in the endeavor and that has never changed, said Chen Guoquan, a resident of the county's Pancun Village.
Over the past years, Huangshan has implemented the ancient architecture property transfer reform to breath new life to the city's precious cultural heritage.

North East China - 2 Days in Harbin
The chronicles of my 2 days backpacking the capital of Heilongjiang (China's most Northern province) Harbin. All during the biggest and busiest time of the year, Spring Festival.

Heilongjiang
Heilongjiang is a province of the People's Republic of China located in the northeastern part of the country. Heilongjiang literally means Black Dragon River, which is the Chinese name for the Amur. The one-character abbreviation is 黑. The Manchu name of the region is Sahaliyan ula, from which the name of Sakhalin is derived, and the Mongolian name with the same meaning is Qaramörin.
Heilongjiang borders Jilin in the south and Inner Mongolia to the west; it also borders Russia to the north and east.

China open to three-way talks with S. Korea and U.S. on denuclearization of N. Korea

A senior official from South Korea's foreign ministry says China has expressed openness to holding multi-lateral talks on North Korea's denuclearization that excludes Pyongyang.
That includes a possible three-way meeting with Seoul and Washington.
Lee Ji-won has more.
China is open to trilateral talks with South Korea and the United States on the denuclearization of North Korea.
South Korea's representative to the six-party talks, Kim Hong-kyun said Saturday, that his Chinese counterpart, Wu Dawei expressed Beijing's stance during their meeting the previous day.
Kim said he suggested three-way talks on implementing the UN sanctions targeting North Korea's nuclear and missile programs and Wu replied by saying China would review the proposal with an open mind.
Recently, China's foreign minister mentioned how Beijing is open to everything, including three-way, four-way and even five-way talks, to kickstart the long-stalled six-party talks,...involving the two Koreas, China, the U.S., Japan and Russia.
The South Korean envoy,.. who is also Seoul's special representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, said both sides shared concerns about North Korea's recent nuclear and ballistic missile provocations.
He said countries must fully implement UN sanctions to create an environment where North Korea is left with no choice but to change.
Meanwhile, the UN Security Council has condemned North Korea for firing ballistic missiles into the East Sea.
At an emergency meeting on Friday, the council strongly condemned North Korea's firings on March 10th and the 18th, calling them unacceptable and a clear violation of the UN resolutions.
The council urged North Korea to comply with the resolutions and cease any further provocations.
It also reiterated that all countries should redouble their efforts in implementing sanctions against the regime.

Heilongjiang (黑龙江; formerly romanized as Heilungkiang) is a province in Northeast China. The province is bordered by Jilin to the south and Inner Mongolia to the west. It also shares a border with Russia (Amur Oblast, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, Primorsky Krai and Zabaykalsky Krai) to the north and east. The capital and the largest city of the province is Harbin. Among Chinese provincial-level administrative divisions, Heilongjiang is the sixth-largest by total area and the 15th-most populous.
The province takes its name from the Heilong River (Chinese name of the Amur), which marks the border between the People's Republic of China and Russia. Heilongjiang contains China's northernmost point (in Mohe City along the Amur) and easternmost point (at the junction of the Amur and Ussuri rivers).
Heilongjiang is China's largest agricultural base, as well as an important industrial area mainly based on oil, timber, coal, and machinery manufacturing.
