Iguazu Falls Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Explore the cities and sub-tropical jungles of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina all from this tri-border city that shares its name with the famous Iguacu Falls.
Sun yourself on the man-made beaches of Itaipu Dam, get up close to toucans and howler monkeys, and take a hike through lush jungle to Iguaçu Falls, one of the world’s largest waterfalls. The proximity of the falls and surrounding National Park is the main attraction of Foz do Iguazu, which sits on the border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. Iguaçu Falls and National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you will discover the habitat of Black Howler Monkeys, endangered Amazon parrots, river-dwelling caiman and Giant Otters.
Intrepid adventurers can abseil down the Iguaçu Canyon for an unforgettable view of the falls. Reward your efforts with a traditional Brazillian lunch at a restaurant overlooking the falls, complete with a view of misty rainbows thrown up by the thundering water.
For any wildlife you’ve missed out on seeing on your hikes through Iguaçu National Park, you’re guaranteed a close up encounter at the Parque das Aves (Bird Park) right by the Park entrance, and at the Bosque Guarani Zoo back in the city. At the Parque das Aves you can step into the aviaries with iconic Toucans and Macaws, just two of more than 150 bird species at this park.
The city of Iguaçu itself is built at the meeting point of the Parana River and the Iguaça Rivers, and is laid out in a grid. The two main streets, Brazil Avenue and Schimmelpfeng Avenue offer retail therapy, hotels, nightclubs, sidewalk bars and cafes. There is also a nearby lake formed by the Itaipu Dam on the Parana River, which features several man-made white sand beaches. It’s a popular spot for picnics, as well as swimming, cycling and canoeing.
The Real Iguazu Falls Experience
In this episode we present you the Real Iguazu Falls Experience. We did the boatride through the falls which is the best way to truly experience the inmense natural power of these falls. Unfortunately no drone footage in this video as this is a no fly zone for drones.
Iguazu Falls is located at the junction of three nations: Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. These “Great Waters,” as named by the indigenous Guarani people, are made up of 275 waterfalls that span nearly 2 miles.
Iguazu means Aqua Grande in the language of the Guarani.
Any Iguazu Falls tour will provide you with a sense of nature’s power and wonder. You can follow a boardwalk trail and take in the majestic, roaring falls from a safe vantage point…or, if you feel daring, a platform above the falls. Look down, but hang on to the railing—that’s a lot of water pouring beneath you.
Don’t mind getting wet? Take a speedboat safari like we did beneath the falls and enjoy the spray. Prefer to stay dry? A helicopter ride over the falls might be for you. From up high, the falls form a tremendous chasm in the surface of the earth, further solidifying the fact that this area is one of nature’s great wonders.
Surrounding the Falls are the two Iguazu National Parks, one located in Brazil, the other in Argentina. The parks are home to beautiful rainforest full of exotic creatures, like wild cats, reptiles, and 400 species of birds and butterflies. There’s far too much here to see in a day, so plan an extended visit to Iguazu. You can even stay the night in the national park and see more of it in the morning.

Iguazu Falls - City Video Guide
Iguazú Falls is almost 2 miles wide and is not one, but an astonishing 275 waterfalls. Eighty percent of the falls lies in Argentina and twenty percent in Brazil, which is why the falls has two names: ‘Iguazú’ in Spanish and ‘Iguaçu’ in Portuguese.
Follow the boardwalk trail through the jungle and stand on viewing platforms over the falls. Feel humbled by the power of the tumbling water mass below you. In the wet season, 450,000 cubic feet thunders over the combined falls each second!
Enjoy a more serene frontal view of the falls from the viewing points in Brazil. From here, the river seems to drape itself over the edge like a curtain.
Take a journey beneath the falls on a speedboat safari. If you’d rather stay dry, take a helicopter ride over the U-shaped series of falls to see how it forms a dramatic chasm in the earth’s surface.
Getting to Iguazú Falls is easy: there are nearby airports in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. You can even stay the night in the national park.
Though it may not be the tallest, largest or most powerful waterfall in the world, Iguazú Falls is certainly one of the most picturesque.
