City in Brazil
Belém, capital of the state of Pará, is a port city and gateway to Brazil’s lower Amazon region.
By Guajará Bay, the riverfront district Cidade Velha (old town) preserves Portuguese-colonial architecture, including churches, colorful azulejo-tile houses and a 17th-century fortification known as Forte do Presépio. Ver-o-Peso is a vast, open-air market on the water selling Amazonian fish, fruit, and handicrafts.

City Tour – Top Places to Visit in Belém do Pará, Brazil
Find out the top must-see venues in Belém why this is one of Brazil’s most culturally unique cities to visit.
Belém is the capital of the Brazilian state of Pará and in English Belém means Bethlehem. It is also the largest city in this state with a population of about 2 million people. Belém is the gateway to the Amazon. We chose to bring our kids here because this is where my husband Chris served a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Chris learned Portuguese, taught the people, ate the food and lived like a native. Chris’s love for Brazil started here. We brought our family to see where and how he lived and also to have an Amazon adventure. Video 131
The Amazon River in Belém, Brazil was one of the most incredible adventures we’ve ever had. We were in the mouth of the Amazon also known as the Amazon Basin. This is the point where the fresh river water flows into the ocean. We are a family of Americans with 5 kids. We have actually lived in Salvador, Bahia Brazil for almost 2 years now. Our goal is to see as much of this beautiful country as possible.
Belém is the capital of the state of Pará, located in the northern region of the country. The city was founded on January 12, 1616 by the Portuguese. It is a historic port city, located to the northeast of the largest rainforest in the world, and is the wettest capital of Brazil due to its tropical climate, directly influenced by the Amazon. – Wikipédia

AromaVentures: Belém, Brazil
In episode 4 of AromaVentures, Chef Vagabundus brings with him two close friends to explore the long winding road of a vagabond's path. Together, the three of them traverse the country from the south to the north, finally ending the journey in Belém.
After gathering together in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, the three loaded a car and set out away from Christ the Redeemer in the fog. As they head north, the road becomes bumpy... literally.
Luckily, beautiful beaches provide desolate landscape for them to slip away into their adventure on. Jonathan (a.k.a. Chef Vaga) & his friends seek out delicious local food finds... but mostly just try to not get lost.
All of them are seeking some personal moments to reflect, while also wanting an epic adventure as they cross the distance equivalence of driving across the United States Los Angeles to New York City, except their road are major interstates.
Language barriers aside, Jonathan began to notice a wide array of lifestyles as their route went from sea to mountains. Watch the episode to see how it ends as he eventually makes it to Belém and begins learning the ways of the famous açaí market.
It's with that experience that he decided to do something unheard of and actually try cooking with the açaí. Brazilians disagreed, but Chef Vaga felt comfortable enough after his travels to develop some ideas that work the flavor well. These recipes include: Açaí chutney with grilled cheese, Açaí gazpacho, Açaí braised fish & the classic Açaí breakfast bowl.
Please enjoy three vagabond's journey, and one chef's attempt to better understand one of the world's most fascinating ingredients!
