Belfast BOTANIC GARDENS
I'm down at Belfast Botanic or Botanical gardens found on a 28 acre site running through from the base of the Stranmillis road to almost over to the river Lagan.
These gardens have been in existence since 1828 but were only formally opened to the public when they came under city ownership in 1895. Prior to that they were owned privately.
These Victorian gardens include a Tropical Ravine, the Palm House, a fine rose garden and two extensive herbaceous borders which are argubly the longest anywhere in the UK.
The Palm house is important because it is a very early example of a cast iron glasshouse that predates anything similar in Ireland and even Kew gardens in England. Charles Lanyon was once again the architect here as indeed he was with many significant buildings in and around Belfast. The gardens a wildlife haven represent a feast of colour in spring and summer and a tranquail spot for people seeking to speed their lunchtime or simply get away from the fast pace of the city for an hour or two.

Botanic Gardens Belfast
Belfast Botanic Gardens is a public park in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Occupying 28 acres (110,000 m2) of south Belfast, the gardens are popular with office workers, students and tourists. They are located on Stranmillis Road in Belfast's university area, with Queen's University nearby. The Ulster Museum is located at the main entrance. The gardens opened in 1828 as the private Royal Belfast Botanical Gardens. It continued as a private park for many years, only opening to members of the public on Sundays prior to 1895. Then it became a public park in 1895 when the Belfast Corporation bought the gardens from the Belfast Botanical and Horticultural Society. The Belfast Corporation was the predecessor of Belfast City Council, the present owner.

Belfast 420 at Botanic Gardens ( Weed smoke out in Belfast )
We headed down to Botanic gardens in Belfast. To document 420 the stoners holiday. Where people smoked Marijuanna. Cannabis is still illegal in the United kingdom. The police made a few arrests on the day. But overall it was a peaceful protest for the legalisation of Cannabis.

14 Common Weeds Found in My Gilnahirk, Belfast Garden
As I spend so much time pulling out weeds from my Gilnahirk, Belfast, Northern Ireland garden, I thought it would be useful to myself and other gardeners to make to list the 14 most common garden weeds I come across. I do hope you find this video useful.
Included in this walk through the weeds are the following,- Dandelion, Robin-Run-the -Hedge, bind Weed, Chick Weed, Hairy Tare, Sheep Sorrell, WillowHerb, Ivy, Hairy Bittercress, Columbine, Nettle, Bramble, Prickly Milk Thistle, Daisies and Buttercups. (I hav not included the Groundsel or the Docken because we don't have them in our garden.
Sorry in advance if I have somehow named any weeds incorrectly. I'm sure someone will put me right.
Anyone interested in weeds is advised to read new book '50 Weeds,' by Belfast husband and wife team Eddie and Diane Oxlade. Diana launched her book recently amid the splendour of the 19th century Palm House in Belfast's Botanic Gardens. Diana illustrated it with fine watercolour paintings and husband Eddie, a botanist and lifelong gardener, wrote the words.
