BELFAST CASTLE | NORTHERN IRELAND | UK
Belfast Castle is located in Antrim Road on the edge of Belfast, 10 minutes drive from downtown. The castle is also served by bus, however it's 15 minutes from the main entrance to the castle itself.
Belfast Castle is one of my list to visit up in Northern Ireland. Its got spectacular views of the city as will as being a wonderful place to walk around. The castle is surrounded by it's beautiful gardens.
As you can see from my video, Cat's has been the major part of the history of the castle, as it's also known as a castle of cat's. It is said that many good fortune, that come to people who visited the castle, as long as the tradition of castle cat is kept within the castle.

Belfast yen There is another specialty. The building is surrounded by beautiful gardens is the Belfast Castle. Size is not large, but it is quite tasteful and Adam. In the 1860s the castle was first built interior is also quite gorgeous to have been used primarily as a banquet room of the lord and the aristocracy. Honeymoon suite for newlyweds is ahead of the wedding dress and the traditional form of marriage beds inside the castle has gotta reproduce. Belfast Castle gotta open to the public since the 1920s, close to the near 100 years and has been the most beloved wedding venues in Belfast. I wish the newlyweds happiness of numerous liver through here so far. Holding a souvenir shop located in the castle basement. Bringing a sense of something different from the entrance. Various lighting, handicrafts, painting, model toys, etc. strutting pretty appearance, is attracting attention. You can not fall into the pride of the Belfast million. It sells a variety of antiques kind. Maybe these days it's a lot of bags sold Titanic-related memorabilia. Prints, models, badges, etc. are all well get out. But the figure of the emperor golf is something wrong. The pigtails sticking plaster attached to the face of Tiger Woods. Direct from the store interior is? Yes. I will direct. Direct creates, directly and decorate it to me. Tiger Woods of the world, the sharp tip of the brush even early realist painter Anything more you can get around.

Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, Europe
Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. Most of Belfast is in County Antrim, but parts of East and South Belfast are in County Down. It is on the flood plain of the River Lagan. By population, it is the fourteenth largest city in the United Kingdom and second largest on the island of Ireland. It is the seat of the devolved government and legislative Northern Ireland Assembly. The city of Belfast has a population of 286,000 and lies at the heart of the Belfast urban area, which has a population of 579,276. The Larger Urban Zone, as defined by the European Union, has a total population 641,638. Belfast was granted city status in 1888. Historically, Belfast has been a centre for the Irish linen industry (earning the nickname Linenopolis), tobacco production, rope-making and shipbuilding: the city's main shipbuilders, Harland and Wolff, which built the well-known RMS Titanic, propelled Belfast on to the global stage in the early 20th century as the biggest and most productive shipyard in the world. Belfast played a key role in the Industrial Revolution, establishing its place as a global industrial centre until the latter half of the 20th century. Industrialisation and the inward migration it brought made Belfast, if briefly, the biggest city in Ireland at the turn of the 20th century and the city's industrial and economic success was cited by Ulster unionist opponents of Home Rule as a reason why Ireland should shun devolution and later why Ulster in particular would fight to resist it. Today, Belfast remains a centre for industry, as well as the arts, higher education and business, a legal centre, and is the economic engine of Northern Ireland. The city suffered greatly during the period of conflict called the Troubles, but latterly has undergone a sustained period of calm, free from the intense political violence of former years, and substantial economic and commercial growth. Belfast city centre has undergone considerable expansion and regeneration in recent years, notably around Victoria Square. Belfast is served by two airports: George Best Belfast City Airport in the city, and Belfast International Airport 15 miles (24 km) west of the city. Belfast is also a major port, with commercial and industrial docks dominating the Belfast Lough shoreline, including the famous Harland and Wolff shipyard. Belfast is a constituent city of the Dublin-Belfast corridor, which has a population of three million, or half the total population of the island of Ireland. Belfast has been the capital of Northern Ireland since its establishment in 1921 following the Government of Ireland Act 1920. It had been the scene of various episodes of sectarian conflict between its Catholic and Protestant populations. These opposing groups in this conflict are now often termed republican and loyalist respectively, although they are also referred to as 'nationalist' and 'unionist'. The most recent example of this conflict was known as the Troubles a civil conflict that raged from around 1969 to 1998. Belfast saw some of the worst of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, particularly in the 1970s, with rival paramilitary groups formed on both sides. Bombing, assassination and street violence formed a backdrop to life throughout the Troubles. The Provisional IRA detonated 22 bombs within the confines of Belfast city centre in 1972, on what is known as Bloody Friday, killing nine people. Loyalist paramilitaries including the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) and the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) claimed that the killings they carried out were in retaliation for the IRA campaign. Most of their victims were Catholics with no links to the Provisional IRA. A particularly notorious group, based on the Shankill Road in the mid-1970s, became known as the Shankill Butchers. In all, over 1,600 people were killed in political violence in the city between 1969 and 2001. Belfast was granted borough status by James VI and I in 1613 and official city status by Queen Victoria in 1888. Since 1973 it has been a local government district under local administration by Belfast City Council. Belfast is represented in both the British House of Commons and in the Northern Ireland Assembly. For elections to the European Parliament, Belfast is within the Northern Ireland constituency.

The site of Belfast has been occupied since the Bronze Age. The Giant's Ring, a 5,000-year-old henge, is located near the city, and the remains of Iron Age hill forts can still be seen in the surrounding hills. Belfast remained a small settlement of little importance during the Middle Ages. John de Courcy built a castle on what is now Castle Street in the city centre in the 12th century, but this was on a lesser scale and not as strategically important as Carrickfergus Castle to the north, which was built by de Courcy in 1177. The O'Neill clan had a presence in the area. In the 14th century, Cloinne Aodha Buidhe, descendants of Aodh Buidhe O'Neill built Grey Castle at Castlereagh, now in the east of the city. Conn O'Neill of the Clannaboy O'Neills owned vast lands in the area and was the last inhabitant of Grey Castle, one remaining link being the Conn's Water river flowing through east Belfast. A trip to Belfast Castle in County Antrim.
Stair ó Wikipedia:
The original Belfast Castle, built in the late 12th century by the Normans,[1] was located in the town itself, flanked by the modern day High Street, Castle Place and Donegall Place in what is now Belfast city centre. This was the home of The 1st Baron Chichester (better known as Sir Arthur Chichester), but was burned down in 1708, leaving only street names to mark the site. Rather than rebuild on the original site, the Chichesters decided to build a new residence in the city's suburbs, today's Belfast Castle emerging as a result. The building that stands today was built from 1811–70 by The 3rd Marquess of Donegall. It was designed in the Scottish baronial style by Charles Lanyon and his son, of the architectural firm Lanyon, Lynn and Lanyon. After Donegall's death and the family's financial demise, The 8th Earl of Shaftesbury completed the house.
It was his son, The 9th Earl of Shaftesbury, who presented the castle to the City of Belfast in 1934. In 1978, Belfast City Council began a major refurbishment over a period of ten years at a cost of over two million pounds. The architect was the Hewitt and Haslam Partnership. The building officially re-opened to the public on 11 November 1988.
The castle boasts an antiques shop, a restaurant and visitors centre and it is a popular venue for conferences, private dining and wedding receptions.

Belfast Tourist Attractions ❤ Around Belfast in 60 Seconds
Any visit to Belfast is always good - rain or shine! We spent some time recording some of its best known attractions, shops, buildings and tourist sites. We took a speedy trip around the city - so you can see what your missing! :-)
Where is Belfast? Just in case any visitors are here - Belfast is in Northern Ireland - part of the UK and on the island of Ireland. It has a population of 1.2 million people who are looking towards a brighter future.
Belfast is an amazing city (the capital of Northern Ireland as well) - with even more amazing people. The city has been through the ultimate in ups and as low as they can go - downs. It was an industrial powerhouse in the 18th and 19th centuries and in the early 1900's it was the largest city on the island of Ireland. Sad times were never too far away - from the loss of the Titanic to Belfast being the 2nd most bombed city in the UK - to the troubles that impacted every part of Northern Ireland - the city has suffered more than most (
But the people of the city set it apart, from sitting having a tea - to drinking a beer in their local town. What else to say :-) Its a crazy, small city with loads of offers for locals and different places for the visitors to come and check.
So put Belfast on your list - if visiting Ireland or even the UK - well worth considering due to the local attractions. Belfast tours are available on foot, bus, car, air and water! Travel to Belfast is easy with two airports and the motorway from Dublin.
This video features - Belfast City Hall, Belfast Shopping, Cathedral Quarter ( Albert Clock, Queen's University, Victoria Square Shopping Centre, Titanic Museum, Nomadic SS, Keywest band playing at the city bandstand and more ;-)
Belfast city happens to be one of those European cities that carries a lot of history inside and thus will be always calling out for tourists to come and spend a couple of days in. There are lots of things to be seen in the city and from those which we have been to before, there is the famous City Hall building ( we also visited St. Anne's Cathedral which happens to be a famous cathedral in the city ( and walked through Victoria Square which is famous with being a shopping destination.
In addition to those buildings, there are other things that made a mark in the history of Belfast, such as losing the famous Titanic ship and which was built in Belfast and thus there has been a memorial placed in the garden of City Hall and there is also the Titanic museum to be found in the city ( Titanic has a smaller sister which is known as SS Nomadic and which back then helped in transporting the passengers from the land to the Titanic Ship. After more than 100 years, the SS Nomadic is back in Belfast where it is now turned into a touristic attraction that people could visit (
Among those famous landmarks found in Belfast city, Northern Ireland, there is Albert Tower which lots of those tourists visiting Belfast manage to place it on the list of things they would be doing and seeing there ( And finally, through the tour we have been doing to bring this video out to life and get more introduced to Belfast, we also came across Queen's University which opened back in 1849 (
All those Belfast attractions were passed by in a quick tour taken around the city but you could of course stop at every single one of them, enter if you are allowed to, and take all the pictures that you want; just make a good plan, know what are the attractions that are located close to one another and how long are you going to spend in every single one of them in order to visit those close ones all at the same day.
There are different other attractions that one could visit in Belfast and which are also considered very famous but the ones we already mentioned above are the landmarks of the city. From those other attractions, one could visit the Crumlin Road Gaol which is an old jail that has served for more than 150 years before closing its doors and being transformed into a touristic attraction site ( There is also the Belfast Castle which is an old castle building that tourists love to come across as well (
Being the capital city of Northern Ireland is not the only reason for those heading to Northern Ireland to visit, but Belfast is also an attraction because it is the largest city and carries lots of historical attractions and places that people could visit, and it is also the second largest city on the island of Ireland as a whole.
Have you ever been to Belfast city? Tell us about your experience!
