#20 - Belgrade, Serbia - bike path Usce-Kej
Starting from the panoramic bike elevator on Branko's bridge and crossing the river Sava to New Belgrade, I'll take you to a bike path that goes almost ;) along the coast (first Sava, then Danube) all the way to Zemun. Not that much to see here, as it's mostly a park like area, but a beautiful, relaxing and a very enjoyable ride none the less. Next ride will start where this one ends, so you should check this one out first. :) Also, this area is famous for its nightlife, with many of the most popular cafes, restaurants and nightclubs in boathouses on the rivers.

#34 - Belgrade, Serbia - Zemun and parts of NBG (07/2012)
REAUPLOADED
This is the last feature film from Belgrade for Season 2012! There will be just two more maxi singles, short movies to connect some dots.
In this one, I'll take you down Kej oslobođenja St in Zemun and around, which turned out to be the most beautiful and most peaceful part of Zemun (I believe it's called Gardoš). Together with some strange details, as usual. :) Then a bit to the right and a bit to the left, through parts of Novi Beograd, enjoying some of the most beautiful streets.

#67 - Belgrade, Serbia - Banjica forest, sports centre and around (05/2013)
Located just a few km from the city centre, Banjica forest proved to be one of the best places, a real hidden gem. Be it for sports, a nice walk, or a short bike ride. Very beautiful and quiet, it offers kind of a surreal experience. Can't believe I've missed it while filming my first Banjica movie (#28). And unlike the packed Ada Ciganlija, this forest still lets you be alone with your thoughts.
I will also take you around the Banjica sports centre, show you few more glimpses of FC Rad's stadium, then through the residential complex and to one of Banjica's signature features - the 5 skyscrapers, which are among the tallest residential buildings in Belgrade and Serbia.
And the biggest surprise is at the very end, while everybody was warming up for the final evening of BazaArt's NGO project in one of the skyscrapers. Or better, in front of it. Sorry you weren't there for the cookies, but you'll surely enjoy some very young local talent. :)

Continuing from the Bulevar movie, follow me along the entire Ustanička St, through Autokomanda Sq to central Voždovac street - Vojvode Stepe St. Then down one of the most beautiful streets in Belgrade - Bulevar oslobođenja Blvd - see parts of Banjica and down to Rakovica!

Belgrade, city of contrasts - the beauty of the Serbian capital
Belgrade - the largest city and capital in Serbia. Also one of the biggest city in the balkans. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans.
I dont own most photos, but some of them belongs to me. I promise to use it just because of promoting and showing a beauty of the Belgrade.
ENJOY!

#69 - Belgrade, Serbia - Cyclomarathon Belgrade - Kovačica 1/2 (06/2013)
Now, I know it's a number 69 but it really isn't what you think. ;) It's another public ride (one more left), another great adventure and another personal best broken. Oh, and another new destination as this was my first real venture into Vojvodina region. Best known (among cyclists) for being flat. And I do mean flat (Fruška Gora excluded). Still, there's so much more to it as you'll realise once I... Hehe, spoilers... (as River Song would say)
So, a public event which worked perfectly well. Except for not going to Kovačica. ;) And I must point out the best police work I've ever seen (motorcycle unit). Incredible. More on that in the movie. Also, as promised, you'll have a rare opportunity to listen to us talking almost the entire time! And such useful stuff, you won't believe. And all for free! Is this the best channel or what? ;)
Oh, apart from great police work, great stories, beautiful landscapes and some (great) tips, you will also see the Pančevo bridge over Danube river, learn some history and how to get from Belgrade to Pančevo on bike almost the legal way. So, don't waste another moment, grab some popcorns, sit back and enjoy the ride! It'll feel like doing the hard work yourself. Only, with absolutely no effect whatsoever. ;)

Belgrade Fortress is the core and the oldest section of the urban area of Belgrade. For centuries the city population was concentrated only within the walls of the fortress, and thus the history of the fortress, until most recent times, equals the history of Belgrade itself (see: Timeline of Belgrade history). The first mention of the city is when it was founded in the 3rd century BC as Singidunum by the Celtic tribe of Scordisci, who had defeated Thracian and Dacian tribes that previously lived in and around the fort. The city-fortress was later conquered by the Romans, was known as Singidunum and became a part of the military frontier, where the Roman Empire bordered barbarian Central Europe. Singidunum was defended by the Roman legion IV Flaviae, which built a fortified camp on a hill at the confluence of the Danube and the Sava rivers. In the period between AD 378 and 441 the Roman camp was repeatedly destroyed in the invasions by the Goths and the Huns. Legend says that Attila's grave lies at the confluence of the Sava and the Danube (under the fortress). In 476 Belgrade again became the borderline between the empires: the Western Roman Empire and Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire), and the Slav-Avar State in the north.

Serbian Bike Touring - ep. 8: Tramping in Belgrade
A day off cycling is a day of walking around Belgrade and do some sightseeing. Plus a massive salad for lunch!
#68 - Belgrade, Serbia - Biciklijada bike event (05/2013)
Biciklijada is a traditional and perhaps the oldest public bike event in Belgrade, with hundreds of participants (and counting). The route seems to change every year and this time it took us through some very nice and interesting places, like the Terazije tunnel which would otherwise be tricky to ride (even suicidal). It's also nice that the route crossed path with some of the previous movies from the area, so it is a really good addition.
Of course, as every other bike event, public or not, this one can also be used as a good tutorial for group rides, especially in terms of What Not To Do. Even when there is police escort, everyone's safety is still mostly in the hands of the participants themselves. Remember that you need to be predictable and that such events are meant to promote cycling, not your skills. And speaking of skills, you will only impress people by riding easily, being calm and predictable, keeping control and simply following the group. Jumping, flying through, zig-zagging and alike is never impressive.
Anyway, enjoy more of Belgrade, with some very nice streets and keep an eye on things that should never be done on group rides.

Belgrade Cycle Tour 2017 Serbia
Walking in Belgrade, Serbia
Walking though a street in Belgrade, Serbia
New Belgrade Novi Beograd Нови Београд 2018
More than 200,000 people live in carefully planned New Belgrade. Located on the left bank of Sava River, between Zemun and Belgrade, New Belgrade is divided to neighborhoods or blocks, built gradually since the 1940s. Urban and building designs were vastly influenced by modernist approaches, and many of the huge residential blocks feature impressive exposed raw concrete details, making New Belgrade the global capital of Brutalism style of architecture. Despite the grim look of vast concrete facades, New Belgrade offers vast public areas rich with vegetation, with safe places for families and neighbors to gather and play. It is walking and cycling friendly, and public transport links New Belgrade with the center of Belgrade. Although modernist approaches put zoning as a major design feature, commerce, offices, education and culture centers are quite accessible. Nevertheless, residents seem to prefer using their own private cars, as I expected to see a much higher presence of bicycles on the streets.
I explored New Belgrade by bicycle on Sunday, September 30th, 2018. Blocks featured in this clip: Block 9, Block 21, Block 22, Block 23, Block 29, Block 31, Block 33, Block 61, Block 62, Block 63. Buildings featured in the clip: Grand Casino Beograd, Hotel Yugoslavia, Genex Tower (Western City Gate), Sava Center, Opština Novi Beograd, Centralni Registar obaveznog socijalnog osiguranja.

Cycling Serbia - Belgrade to Tara Mountain
The start of the Europe leg of our bike adventure!
We started in Belgrade, Serbia, in summer - which made a huge improvement on New Zealand winter! Belgrade had some good routes to get out of the city, and before we knew it, we were in rolling countryside, and beautiful national parks.
The absolute highlight for us was Tara Mountain National Park - a beautiful wild expanse with some challenging climbs and fantastic views. We didn't see any bears though.
Next stop - Bosnia Herzogovina!
#135 - Serbia, Belgrade - City centre, Skadarlija, Kalemegdan (08/2014)
Through some bits and pieces, you've seen more of the Belgrade city centre, but I haven't made a dedicated movie since 2012. So, why not as the last ride of Season 2014?
This movie is intended as an update of #22, showing you many of the same places (some from new perspective), but also as an upgrade, adding some cool things like Skadarlija, famous bohemian area. But there are also some dinosaurs (!), fortress gates and churches. Also included in this package is the area above the train station, Slavija Sq, The Strip, The Republic Square and Knez Mihailova St (pedestrian zone).
So enjoy as the next movie will be from Season 2015!
My special greeting this time goes to people fighting the ridiculous rules like don't climb the wall or do not put your cat into the microwave. Such rules, while advertised as keeping us safe, are actually only meant to do some brainwashing and teach us to just follow the rules, don't ask or question and never, under any circumstances, use our heads nor common sense. Or to even develop one. So if you see a ridiculous rule, please don't just smile - fight it. Or else we'll soon become just trained animals.
