Langkawi Malaysia Kuah Night Market Satay
Langkawi Malaysia Kuah Night Market. This was about 400M from the Hotel Bayview, and I think only available during weekends. Plenty of stores and also a good crowd. Lots of food being prepared and I was not sure whether the street hawkers could be able to sell off all the food that evening, but I guess they know what they are doing. Satay seems to be a favourite.
DELICIOUS Malaysian STREET FOOD - Kuah NIGHT MARKET - Langkawi - MALAYSIA
It is our last day and night on the amazing Malaysian island of Langkawi. What better way to end our time here than sample some more delicious Malaysian street food! We head off to Kuah to the night market and the Malaysian street food on offer does not disappoint. After tucking into lots of delicious treats we head back to the west side of Langkawi and enjoy one last sunset at Cenang beach with some drinks in hand. Langkawi you have been a true Malaysian jewel and we will be back.

Exploring Kuah Town and Makkam Mehsuri in Langkawi Malaysia
Daughter of a who moved from their native place (Phuket) to the island of Langkawi in search of a better life. She was the most beautiful in all of Langkawi and married the warrior Wan Darus . As was required of him, her husband had to go to war with the Siamese, leaving Mahsuri behind to fend for herself. It was during this time that Mahsuri befriended a young traveller named Deraman. The village chief's wife Wan Mahora was jealous of Mahsuri's beauty. She spread a rumour that Mahsuri was unfaithful and was having an affair with Deraman in the absence of Wan Darus. Eventually the rumours grew strong enough that the villagers openly accused her of adultery. Mahsuri pleaded her innocence, but no one believed her.
Mahsuri was to be tied to a tree (or pole) and stabbed to death but it didn't work. After every execution attempt failed, Mahsuri told them to kill her with her family's 'keris'. When she was stabbed, white blood flowed from the wound, signifying her innocence. Some birds flew above her to cover her body. With her dying breath, Mahsuri cursed Langkawi to have seven generations of bad luck. The kingdom was soon taken over by Siam. The villagers at Padang Mat Sirat burned their own paddy fields rather than let them fall into the hands of the Siamese.
Many Langkawi locals believe the legend to be true, citing the decades of failed crops that followed Mahsuri's death. Langkawi was also attacked by Siam numerous times, the last invasion taking place in 1821. The field which was torched by the farmers is still known as Beras Terbakar or burnt rice. It is only at the end of the 20th century, after the seven generations have supposedly come to pass, that Langkawi began to prosper as a tourist destination. Mahsuri's descendants continue to live in Phuket, Thailand, and have on occasion returned to Langkawi to visit her tomb. Among them was Sirintra Yayee , also known as Wan Aishah Wan Nawawi, who came into the spotlight during her visit to Kedah in 2000.

AB MOTEL LANGKAWI
Well, I think you would be hard pressed to get better value for your dollar than here. This room was MYA100 (AUD30) per night. The floor was so clean you could have eaten off it. Very good value @ Cenang Beach, Langkawi.
The usual hotel I stay in at Kuala Lumpur. It's pretty clean, the price is reasonable and the breakfast is good too. Well located with the Carlton Ritz as a neighbour and within very comfortable walking distance of all the main shopping and restaurants etc.............

Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah (Malay: Langkawi Permata Kedah), is a district and an archipelago of 99 islands (+ 5 small islands visible only at low tide) in the Andaman Sea some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. On 15 July 2008, Sultan Abdul Halim of Kedah consented to the change of name to Langkawi Permata Kedah in conjunction with his golden jubilee celebration. By far the largest of the islands is the eponymous Langkawi Island (Pulau Langkawi), with a population of some 64,792; the only other inhabited island being nearby Tuba Island.
Langkawi is also an administrative district, with the town of Kuah as its largest town. Pentai Cenang is the most popular beach and tourist area in Langkawi, with tens of thousands of visitors each year.
The name Langkawi is thought to have existed by the early 15th century, although in the 16th century the island of Langkawi was also marked on maps variously as Langa, Langka, Lansura, and Langapura.
There are many suggestions for the origin of the name of Langkawi. According to one interpretation, Langkawi means island of the reddish-brown eagle, a Brahminy kite in colloquial Malay. The Malay word for eagle is helang (shortened to lang), and kawi is a red stone used as a chalk to mark goods.[6] This interpretation was used to create the landmark sculpture of an eagle as the symbol of Langkawi at Dataran Helang (Eagle Square) in Kuah.
Some believed that Langkawi is the same as, or related to, the Lanka or Langkapuri mentioned in Indian sources. This ancient name Lanka (or Lankapura and Lankapuri) is found in Indian literature from an early period (named in Ramayana as the city of the king Ravana), although the identification of the original Lanka is not certain. Puri or puram in Sanskrit means a town or city. The name Langkawi is also thought to be related to Langkasuka, an old kingdom thought by some to have links with Kedah. Some also thought that Langkawi means many beautiful islands, langka being a Sanskrit word meaning beautiful while wi means many.
In 2008, the then-sultan of Kedah, Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, conferred the title of Langkawi Permata Kedah (meaning Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah) upon the island as part of his golden jubilee as an affirmation of Kedah's ownership over the island.
Langkawi had long been at the periphery of, but closely associated with, the domain of the Kedah Sultanate. Legend tells of a great snake ular besar, the custodian of the Langkawi Islands, to which a new king of Kedah must sacrifice a virgin daughter whenever he first ascended the throne, or when a war was declared with another state.
The island of Langkawi was recorded in history by various travelers to the region. It was called Lóngyápútí (龍牙菩提) in the 14th century by the Yuan dynasty traveler Wang Dayuan, and when the Ming dynasty admiral Zheng He visited the region, the island was marked as 龍牙交椅, Lóngyájiāoyǐ, in his map. In the 15th century, it was known to the Acehnese as Pulau Lada Pepper Island as they came over to plant pepper. In 1691, the French general Augustin de Beaulieu recorded going to the island of Lancahui (Langkawi) to buy pepper, and de Beaulieu was required to obtain a license from Kedah's heir apparent then in Perlis before the penghulu or chief of Langkawi would sell pepper to him.
Langkawi was historically home to seafarers, such as the orang laut or sea people originally from the southern part of the Malay Peninsula, as well as pirates and fishermen. It had been thought to be cursed for a couple of centuries - according to local legend, in the late 18th century, a woman named Mahsuri was wrongfully accused of adultery and put to death, and she placed a curse on the island that would last for seven generations. Not long after Mahsuri's death, in 1821, the Siamese army invaded Kedah, and attacked Langkawi. In the first attack, the locals decided to burn down the granary at Padang Matsirat to starve and drive out the Siamese army. The Siamese nevertheless finally captured the island in May 1822, killed its leaders, and many of the islanders were taken as slaves, while others were forced to flee. Before the Siamese invasion, there was an estimated island population of 3–5000, and only a small proportion was left after the invasion.
Langkawi remained as a quiet backwater until 1986, when the then Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad decided to transform it into a major tourist resort, helping to plan many of the islands buildings himself. The curse placed by Mahsuri for seven generations was said to have lifted as the 7th generation descendant of Mahsuri who now lives in Phuket Province was born. The island rapidly grew as a tourist destination, and by 2012, it had received over 3 million tourists a year.

SUPER CHEAP & DELICIOUS | BEST Night Market Langkawi Malaysia |
Street food and night market here in Langkawi, Malaysia gives us the best food experience. Temonyong Night Market is well known as a hidden place to get super cheap and delicious authentic local malaysian food & dessert.
A lot of extremely cheap food is everywhere; fresh mango juice, Roti, Spring rolls, Grilled chicken, Chicken Satay, and souvenir and cloths stalls all around. The food was decent especially for the tiny amount you were paying but the atmosphere was what we enjoyed the most. It was the activity we did in Langkawi where we didn't feel like a tourist like every other place. So if you are in Langkawi and want a bit of a less touristy thing to do and get a good feed for next to nothing then give the nighty markets it a go you'll enjoy it.

Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands set just 30km off the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The main island is Pulau Langkawi and its accommodation options tend to occupy the luxury end of the scale: think teak villas and beautifully-embellished traditional huts with chandelier showerheads, silk sheets, and Wi-Fi access.
The main settlement at Pulau Langkawi is in the main town of Kuah (the best place for duty-free shopping), while Pantai Tengah, Pantai Cenang, Padang Matsirat, Pantai Kok, Tanjung Rhu and Datai Bay mainly play host to upmarket resorts. Just off the coast of Pantai Cenang is Pulau Rebak Besar, home to the exclusive Rebak Marina Resort, which offers 150 spacious and elegant chalets and a 200-berth marina.

Langkawi 2017 Ep7: Time to go home!
We were informed that flight is delayed for an hour over the PA system. So, we wandered about Langkawi International airport departure terminal for a bit before heading in to relax in Plaza Premium Lounge.
The lounge is located just after immigration and before security checks. The Loungekey program allows us to have complimentary visits to many lounges in the world. We are enrolled in Loungekey as Boo has Visa Infinite credit card.
We spent about half hour there before finding out that the flight is delayed for yet another half hour. Thankfully the lounge was pretty decent, so we were able to really enjoy ourselves and have some coffee at the same time.
The aircraft finally arrives and I am seriously impressed with Firefly. The turnaround time they needed was only 15mins. This includes disembarking incoming passengers, unloading luggages of inbound flight, all the required checks, before boarding the outbound passengers (us), and the cargo handlers loading our luggages.
Although the flight was light, I would say only about 40% of the seats were taken, but still, it is pretty amazing. Thank you, Firefly!
An hour after, we safely landed into SZB. The flight was quick and nice. We ordered an Uber ride to head home and the ride was quite long due to the after work traffic. I hated being inside his car because it stinks of cigarette. Like I do not mind people smoking in front of me as much, but when you have a cabin that has such heavy scent of cigarette, and you are supposedly a taxi driver. I would think that is pretty unacceptable. Actually, same goes to Uber vehicles that have too heavy car fresheners.
Got home and I needed a nap from the woozy feeling I was having. Took a nap of about an hour before getting ready to head out for dinner. We had Thai Tuk Tuk at Publika and we loved it! Definitely visiting that place again.
Thank you for joining us in our Langkawi journey. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we can show you on screen. Langkawi is amazing and we would love to head back there some day soon.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe if you have not!

Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah (Malay: Langkawi Permata Kedah), is a district and an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. On 15 July 2008, Sultan Abdul Halim of Kedah had consented to the change of name to Langkawi Permata Kedah in conjunction with his golden jubilee celebration. By far the largest of the islands is the eponymous Langkawi Island (Pulau Langkawi), with a population of some 64,792; the only other inhabited island being nearby Tuba Island. Langkawi is also an administrative district with the town of Kuah as largest town. Langkawi is a duty-free island.
