2014 03 16 Blue Hole Guam
A great dive, visibility was outstanding. Dove down the hole and then out and back up. Lots of fish, and a large moral eel. Total dive time was about 29 minutes or so, burned through about 2600psi on a 3400 psi tank.

Guam
Haifa day, and welcome to Guam. We're located in the Western Pacific, nearly 4000 miles west of Hawaii. So in Navy terms, we're located in the Seventh Fleet Area of Operation. It's an island nation, and U.S. territory, home to the native Chamorro people. About 1.6 million visitors come to Guam each year to experience its beaches, amazing sunsets, diving, its culture, and its food. There are about 162000 people living on the island, about 7000 of which are permanently stationed U.S. service members. For us Navy folks, there are multiple duty stations here, including EOD, Seabees, Riverines, and several Shore commands. What you gotta ask yourself, why get stationed here? Come out here to Guam and see what we're about.
Many thanks for watching,

Maug’s Caldera: A Natural Laboratory - Trailer
In the remote Pacific, the islands of Maug rise out of the sea. Here shallow hydrothermal vents are found close to coral reefs. These vents emit levels of CO2 that can be expected in the world’s oceans by the end of the century, making these waters a natural laboratory for scientists studying the impacts of ocean acidification on coral reefs.

A Cloudy Morning on Maug
Maug is one of the islands within the Islands Unit of the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument. The nearest port is in Saipan, over 300 miles to the south. A fish drying camp was built on this stretch of beach by the Japanese prior to World War II, but no one has lived there since.
Guam Street food: Eating Balut at Nok's Nook (2019)
Nok's Nook is one of the best bar's in Guam. It is located in Tamuning, on Marine Corp Drive, across from Alupang Beach Tower. It is run by Nook, the feisty, Beautiful thai lady in the video. Most of the bartenders are Filipino, but equally beautiful. Nok has Thai food available free for her customers almost every night.
It is truly a multicultural experience. As is common in Guam bars, the customers are varied - from many countries and every race and gender. The music is as varied as the customers with Rock, Country and Thai pop heard frequently. It can be rowdy on weekends.
It is popular mainlanders, expats and locals. Also with the Navy and Air Force. Everyone hangs out together and gets along. Drinks are cheap, and pours are large.
It this video, one of the filipina bartenders brought BALUT for anyone that wanted to try. BALUT is an egg containing a developing bird embryo (usually a duck) that is boiled and eaten from the shell. You can taste the bones and feathers when you eat one. There were no filipinos eating the BALUT, so me and the two thai ladies eating with me, had to figure out the right way to eat one.
It is available in Guam and popular with the large Filipino community here.
Nok's is a good place to play pool, but it is a small venue. If there are even 10 customers, the place seems packed. Don't be afraid to ring the bell.
