Haunted Bell Witch Cave - Adams, TN
This is our visit to the infamous Bell Witch Cave in Adams, TN. We weren't disappointed. In this video you will see the many faces of the cave, an unexplained light anomaly, a definite mist, and see the raw beauty that is inside.
The cave tour was great, though we didn't enjoy the cabin tour as much, but we visited on a sunny, swealtering Summer day, so the cave felt great. At the end of the tour, I did see a hovering, swirling mist above the indian's grave, which is yet another unexplained experience, which is the core reason I delved into paranormal stuff. Hope you enjoy.

Exploring Abandoned Downtown Adams, Tennessee (Home of the Bell Witch Legend)
Adams, Tennessee is a tiny town in NW Tennessee about 45 minutes from Nashville. If you've ever heard of Adams, it's probably because of the Bell Witch legend, which is a supposedly true story that occurred in Adams in 1817, 200 years ago at the time of this video.
This video is a quick walk-around the abandoned old downtown area of Adams, which is a few miles from the old Bell family homestead where the bewitching occurred.
I've photographed downtown Adams several times, and although I don't know much about this collection of decaying and abandoned buildings, but here's what I have learned . . .
The old United Methodist Church: This old Methodist church is in a very bad state of disrepair. I once posted a photo of this on my Facebook page, and someone commented they had been married there (I think she said it was in the 1980s). The first time I shot this building, a very upset Mockingbird on top of the building was giving me a very shrill warning to stay away from her property.
The J.E. Winters Co. Dry Goods Building: This is a two-story red brick commercial building completed in October 1897 (See the date on the Masonic stone in the video). The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville featured a news item regarding this business in November, 1899: A stave factory, conducted by J. M. Wilder, will be in operation at Adams in a few days. J. E. Winters, a leading dry goods merchant of the town, has taken the contract to furnish the white oak timber, a large quantity of which has already been hauled to the lumber yard.
Robertson and Co. and abandoned storefronts: I haven't learned anything about this collection of buildings. I did hear from the mother of the young man who tagged the Kerouac quote onto the wide brick side of the Robertson and Co. building. She thanked me for photographing and preserving his work, since he has apparently passed away at a very young age. That white spray paint quote seems to be one of the most photographed parts of downtown Adams, along with the Methodist Church. Here is the quote attributed to Jack Kerouac: In Autumn Geronimo Weeps — No Pony with a Blanket.
The Bell Witch Cave, Brief History and My Experience Slideshow

SCARIEST DEMON EVER RECORDED | Tennessee Folklore | The Bell Witch: Demoness of Adams, TN
#BellWitch #AdamsTennessee #ScariestDemons
Imagine a sociopath that won’t leave your home for decades, only you can’t see them or stop them. That’s what the Bell Family of Adams, Tennessee, dealt with back in the 1800s.
If you want scary demon stories, you don’t get more terrifying than the Bell Witch of West Tennessee. One of the state’s most prolific paranormal entities, this spirit is perhaps one of the scariest demons that I have ever researched. One of the most evil men in America turned tail and ran after encountering her, and nothing could get rid of her until she met her goal -- which she prolonged by drawing out the nightmarish torment she plagued the Bell Family with.
Strangely enough, she seemed mostly cordial to those outside of the family and was content to answer questions. She was even uncharacteristically kind to Lucy Bell and some of her friends, even doting upon the Bell matriarch when she once took ill.
The craziest thing is that, while there are theories as to why she set her sights on John Bell, his daughter Betsy endured much from her for seemingly unknown reasons. But why? Listen and be the judge.
NOTE: This Saturday, I have a story I got from someone who visited the cave back in the 80s/early 90s.

Travel Channel’s “Haunted Live” Finale Tease: The Bell Witch Haunting
The Tennesee Wraith Chasers of Travel Channel’s “Haunted Live” share their excitement and anticipation to explore the first true American Ghost Story: The Bell Witch Haunting in Adams, Tenn. for the series finale on Friday, November 16th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The Bell Witch case is the preeminent paranormal legend in the United States, and the only haunted house to ever be investigated by a state government and deemed to be true.
Bell Witch Cave EVP
Audio recorded the night of July 2nd, 2008 in the Bell Witch Cave around 9:30 P.M. There were six of us in there. There is some faint whispering at the beginning, and you can hear the rocks being thrown around in the cave (especially after my sister asked are you the little boy?). None of us were throwing the rocks. And no rocks had fallen until we started asking questions.
So if you're into the paranormal and you are ever around Adams, TN... make a stop at the Bell Witch Cave!

Folklore Facts: The Bell Witch
In todays Folklore Facts: The Bell Witch we are reviving the once forgotten series. I decided that since it was October I would kick things off with a fairly famous ghost story from Tennessee. Not only do I go over the details of the story but we also delve a little deeper and try to find out if there is any truth behind it.

The Most Scariest Places in the World - TOP10
SCARIEST PLACES IN THE WORLD
10. The Chapel of Bones, Portugal
This monastic cemetery was built in the late 15th century for purely practical reasons: the monks were out of room for their deceased. Rather than bury the bones, however, the Franciscan monks decided to expose them as a way to remind everyone life is fleeting. And lest you forget that fact, the inscription above the entrance reads, We, the bones that are here, await yours. C'mon in!
9. Leap Castle, Ireland
So you wanna visit a place whose most famous inhabitant is a gray leprosy victim whose rotting appearance is heralded by the disgusting stench of decomposing flesh? Look no further than this castle that was used as a fortress and tomb for various battling Irish clans whose leaders wouldn't hesitate to kill their own family if they were crossed.
8. The Stanley Hotel, Colorado
Sure, it looks inviting enough, nestled at the base of the Rockies there. But this hotel that Stephen King based The Shining on is a little more ominous than it looks. Many residents have heard strange bumps in the night, seen ghosts wandering its halls, and even had their beds made - while they were sleeping in them.
7. The Bell Witch Cave
This place was so haunted, it even scared an American president away. Andrew Jackson had heard of the hauntings in Adams, Tennessee, and after spending a night there once, he vowed never to return. The Bell Witch supposedly set out to kill landowner John Bell and ruin his daughter's life in the mid-1800s. Legend has it that she accomplished both goals.
6. Moundsville Penitentiary
Not only did this prison house the dregs of humanity, Moundsville is also the site of many Indian burial grounds. This place was destined to be bad news. It’s said that not only do the Indians’ spirits haunt the place, they’re joined by the souls of many who died here (94 executions, 34 murders), including the “Shadow Man,” a maintenance man/snitch killed by inmates, who haunts the basement.
5. Danvers State Hospital, Massachusetts
In the late 1880s, building giant insane asylums was all the rage. Danvers was one of the biggest, covering a whopping 197 acres and housing 2,500 patients who underwent early experiments with lobotomies and electroshock therapy. Its cemetery contains between 700 and 800 dead crazy people. Oh, and it was turned into apartments in 2008.
4. Catacombs, Paris
Ever taken a walking tour of the Notre Dame church? Did you know that 20 meters below your feet lay the remains of more than six million Parisians? Built in the late 18th century when traditional cemeteries posed a disease risk to the public, the long, bone-lined tunnels cover some 11,000 square miles.
3.Aokigahara Forest, Japan
Imagine lush, green, lovely woods where you can hike, bird watch, observe native plants, and maybe come across a corpse or three? Known as the “Suicide Forest,” Aokigahara is the site of some 50 to 100 suicides each year, mostly by hanging or sleeping pills. Volunteers sweep the forest once a year looking for bodies and cleaning up the belongings of the dead.
2. The Island of Dolls, Mexico
Where childhood comes to die! The island's caretaker, Julian, supposedly found a little girl drowned in a canal with her doll floating nearby. He hung the doll in a tree in her honor, became obsessed with the mystery of who she was (whether real or made up in his head), and continued to hang dolls in tribute for 50 years until HE DIED WHERE SHE DID.
1. Poveglia Island, Italy
Ah, Italy... that tourist-luring land of beautiful architecture, delicious food, and islands 10 miles away from Venice that housed plague-ridden disease carriers and the mentally ill. It was here that a deranged doctor performed hideous experiments on the unwanted (like chiseling their brains). Half dirt, half human ash, the island is so macabre, the government doesn't want you visiting, and gondoliers sure don't want to take you there.
