Bella Coola | Canada
Bella Coola is the gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest. People visit from all around the world to get a glimpse of the Grizzly bear and spirit bears feeding on the river. There is so much more to this area than the wildlife. The mountains and scenery are out of this world. Narrow passages in British Columbia makes it look like we are somewhere in the Norway Fjords. Bella Coola is located off of Vancouver Island and can be accessed by a ferry from Port Hardy or by driving to the mainland. Here you can spot grizzly bears, black bears, orcas (Killer Whales), humpback whales, eagles and a lot more.
Bella Coola, The Real BC
A short video encompassing the beautiful Bella Coola Valley and all it has to offer
Bella Coola, by far my hardest goodbye. In my last two years there I have found comfort in trying new things. I fell in love, with people and places. I made forever friends, the once in a lifetime kind of people. Thank you for giving me some of my best years, for being a part of my journey and setting an adventure fire in me. It is impossible to put into words how incredible this place is so I put together a video for a small look into what my life was like in this hidden gem

Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, Bella Coola, BC, Canada
Grizzly Bears, Hiking, Wildlife and Fishing at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, in beautiful Bella Coola, British Columbia Canada.
We are proud as of 2011 our Grizzly Bear Tours and Grizzly Bear Viewing has been recognized by the Canadian Tourism Commission and included in their prestigious Signature Experiences Collection which highlights once-in-a-lifetime authentic Canadian experiences!
The historic Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, set on 60 acres of private land within the vast wilderness of British Columbia's largest protected park, is the ideal setting for your wilderness adventures and experiences. Originally built in 1929 as a hunting and fishing lodge, today the lodge accommodates those seeking out a more eco-friendly adventure as well as a relaxing refuge from the pressures of modern life.
The surrounding environment is stunning. Rising above the valley floor are the majestic Coast Mountains, to the west is the largest fjord system in the Americas, and to the east the high Chilcotin Plateau. It is a bio-diverse and spectacular wilderness, home to the totemic wildlife of the Great Bear Rainforest.
Our lodge borders the Atnarko River and in the fall the Grizzly Bears come down to feast on the spawning Salmon. We are smack in the middle of what is one of the healthiest bear habitats in the world and often the bears can be seen wandering past the lodge. Sometimes we even catch them napping on the lawn.
All accommodation at the Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is in one of ten private chalets with the main lodge providing lots of common space for dining, games, and socializing. It is perfect set up for family reunions and corporate groups, which can book the full premises, yet intimate enough that the individual traveler and smaller groups will feel at home. The focus throughout is on great service, and an authentic, welcoming Canadian hospitality.
Although the lodge and the entire Bella Coola Valley are geographically remote, it is nevertheless easy and convenient to make your way to our door step.
At Tweedsmuir Park Lodge we are lucky to live in a stunning and pristine environment and have a wonderful community supporting us. We are committed to keeping it that way and ask all our guests to participate in our environmental stewardship initiatives to ensure that Bella Coola continues to be the most extraordinary place in the world to enjoy the great outdoors.
Join us. Your expectations will be surpassed!!

Bella Coola or Bust! (A BC Road Trip) 2015
Blogged Entries:
For years, I worked summers and it was hard scheduling a small road trip to Bella Coola, BC. I wanted to do The Hill and see the mid-BC coast. This summer is our first one retired.
We went for four nights (including my birthday) on a camping trip. BC Ferries seemed too expensive for a 'circle trip' so we drove 1000K there and the same back to New Westminster.
Overlanding Kelowna to Bella Coola: Part 1 - 2019 September Long Trip
Part 1 of 3 of our annual September Long weekend trip. This years trip took us to Bella Coola and back, trying to stay on backroads while exploring the sights along the way.
While documenting the trip was not the primary objective we did have the camera rolling for parts and so pulled together this series of videos. Hope that they inspire, inform or at least entertain you a little.
Be sure to like or subscribe if you think there is potential as it will help keep me motivated to come out with more content. Thanks!

Shannon Ellis; Wilderness Tourism Bella Coola
Shannon Ellis a wilderness guide from Bella Coola describes the interdependence of the wilderness tourism industry, the bears, eagles, wolves and whales on the wild salmon. She notes with alarm that many of the Bella Coola bears appear to have starved to death over the winter. Without the salmon all of these species will be threatened with extinction as will the lucrative wilderness tourism industry. She asks what is the salmon farm industry really contributing to B.C. The toxic fish go to the U.S. The profits go to Norway and we are left with an environmental travesty.
