Ferry on Lake Como Italy between Bellagio, Varenna & Menaggio, via Fréjus Road Tunnel
We spent 2 nights in Lake Como Italy after our beautiful house sitting assignment in Conjux, France. It seems our European trip has been covering all the mountain lakes of Western Europe. Lake Annecy and Lake Bourget in France were hard to top, but Lake Como surely didn't disappoint. This is a much larger lake in comparison to Annecy or Bourget, with more towns accessible via Ferry.
PRO TRAVEL TIP: If you plan to go to a town such as Mennagio, Bellagio, Varenna or any town via ferry for that matter BUY THE DAY PASS. It seems the ticket counter operators are notorious for selling you two one-way tickets at 9.80 euros each, however a daily pass is available for 15 euros. You do the math, the Daily Pass makes way more sense, but you might not be informed of its existence, especially in Menaggio, where most people are based.
The ferry rides are usually crowded, but the views are spectacular. We covered all three towns in one day and lots of walking. Easily doable if you are on a time crunch.

Northern Italy’s Lombardy region, is an upscale resort area known for its dramatic scenery, set against the foothills of the Alps. The lake is shaped like an upside-down Y, with three slender branches that meet at the resort town of Bellagio. At the bottom of the southwest branch lies the city of Como, home to Renaissance architecture and a funicular that travels up to the mountain town of Brunate.

Hotel Belvedere Bellagio, Italy
Owned by 4 generations of women since 1880, Hotel Belvedere offers panoramic views of Lake Como. The private garden has a swimming pool with a hot tub. Parking is free.
The Belvedere also has a new spa with Turkish bath, sauna, therapeutic showers, and relaxation area. Face and body treatments are available in the wellness area.
Rooms, suites, and apartments are elegant and stylish, and each offers air conditioning and a satellite TV. Most have a balcony or terrace with views of the garden or the lake.
The panoramic restaurant has a beautiful terrace with a superb view of the lake and mountains. It is open between April and October for lunch and dinner. A sweet breakfast is served daily.
Belvedere Hotel is a short walk from the centre of Bellagio, a 15-minute walk from the marina, Villa Melzi and Villa Serbelloni.

Sun was not even up over the mountains, yet my room side launch pad at the [Hotel Belvedere] afforded my DJI Phantom 4 Pro Drone a memorable FIRST FLIGHT in [Italy] over [Lake Como]!
After having shared the local drone restrictions with the friendly and knowledgeable concierge the previous afternoon, the beautiful morning light of the Northern Lake District was irresistible.
The small village below our hotel is called, [Pescallo].
[Hotel Belvedere] is perfectly located a 10 minute walk just OUTSIDE of [Bellagio] on [Lago Como]. So you can truly take in the romantic Italian countryside when you wish, and have the bustle of the town at your call only when you so desire. The wonderful restaurant, staff and lovely furnished room all helpeed to have us wish for a return in short order.
About at the 52 second mark in the video a Fisherman can be seen on his way to deliver his FRESH morning catch to a restaurant.

Probably one of the most romantic places on earth is Lake Como (Como Lago) It is absolutely amazing, everywhere you go you have breathtaking views.
It is very easy to get to from Malpensa airport in Milan. You can either take a taxi for aprox 150Euros or save a bundle with the train and ferry. I chose the train and it couldnt have been easier. In terminal 1, I followed the sighns for the train which brought me to their ticket counter. I just told them where I wanted to go and they gave me my tickets. The fastest was to Como Lago is with a stop in Sarrona. This train runs aprox every 20 minutes and is around a 20 minute ride. Then you will grab the Como Lago train, which runs less often, and is an aprox 43 minute ride, ending in Como. I found an amazing app, TRENIT, just search for it in your app store. This app will show you all options for trains as well as platform information. This was awesome because I only had 2 minutes to change trains or I would have to wait for the next one which was 1-2 hours later. So since I knew that I would be arriving on platform 2 and departing on platform 4, I was able to run and made it perfectly. There are plenty of awesome places to stay right there in como, or head to one of the other lake villages. I stayed at Tremezzo, which is just across from Bellagio so I grabbed the ferry. They have the fast ferry with inside seating which only takes about 43 minutes, they also offer the slow ferry, with inside and outside seating. This one takes much longer because it stops at each village on its way.
Once in Tremezzo, I stayed at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, which was AMAZING!!! after I got situated I bought a ferry day pass for only 15EURs which takes you between Lenno, Tremezzo, Bellagio, Varrena and Menaggio. Get off and on as much as you want.
Bellagio is ine of the favorites for most vacationers, but I fell in love with Varrena. You can hike up to the top of the mountain and visit Castela de Vesio, also explore Villa Monestero which offers amazing gardens and views.

Spent a week exploring North Italy with my mum. Started off in Milan then headed to Como for a few nights. After that we stayed in the mountains of Bellagio, overlooking Lake Como. It was hard to leave Borgo le Terrazze, where we were staying but spending another day in Milan was great. Absolutely incredible trip and can't wait to go back to Bellagio. Beautiful place.

Bellagio Italy to Gotthard Pass Switzerland 2016 - We make a stop in Bellagio to take a final picture on the top of the famous alley from where you can view Lake Como. Instead of taking the tunnel through Gotthard Pass we take the highway that goes over Gotthard pass, stopping at the Chiosco Panorama stop where you can view the highway that comes up the mountain.

Hiking the tallest mountain around lake Como, mount Legnone
I'm back in my region, and ready to explore more!
In this episode I'm attacking mount Legnone, the tallest mountain on lake Como, topping at over 2600 meters. It's a very shy mountain, as it's often covered, but with planning, and a bit of luck, I was finally able to experience one of the best views in the area.

A Walk Around Varenna & Bellagio, Italy
On my day long self-tour of Lake Como I visited 3 places, the first being a small commune named Varenna. I decided to spend half an hour hiking up to the old castle, once up there I was greeted by not only the historical fortification but some spectacular views across the lake. I would have been happy to spend the entire day just admiring the view, watching the distant mountains break free from the early morning mist. Once back down to the water I strolled through the terraced gardens of the Villa Monastero, found a pretty market square and then made my way to the ferry terminal to head on to my next destination - Bellagio.
Once there I had to make the most of my time as I had only scheduled one hour for a quick look around. I headed into the narrow roads and alleyways, ate some ice cream for lunch and then headed back to the ferry terminal to catch a boat across the lake to the city of Como.
