THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG
'The Story of Brandy station, the largest cavalry battle ever fought on American soil'. Gettysburg was the turning point of the American Civil War and is, perhaps, the most famous battle of that bloody and bitter conflict. However, only weeks before, the cavalry forces of North and South had met in what would prove to be the largest cavalry engagement of the war, the Battle of Brandy Station. This is the dramatic story of that crucial battle, a fight which would dispel the myth of the 'invincible' Confederate cavalry forever. This DVD features a magnificent reconstruction of the Battle of Brandy Station specially filmed in Virginia, the largest cavalry re-enactment ever staged in America. Also featuring superb dramatised 'eye-witness' accounts, computer generated 3D mapping techniques plus delightful period imagery and photographs; this programme provides an unforgettable record of a vital day in the American Civil War. Narrated by Bob Sessions. Featuring expert comment and analysis by Dr David Chandler, the world's foremost military historian and former Head of War Studies at Sandhurst.

Tim Smith (Moonshiner): Short Biography, Net Worth & Career Highlights
Complete biography:
American moonshiner, reality television personality, and businessman Tim Smith, was born in the state of Virginia, and is best known for being part of the Discovery Channel docudrama entitled “Moonshiners”. The show started airing in 2011, and Tim has been one of the main cast members throughout the series. All of his activities have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Moonshiner's Tim Smith? As of late 2017, celebrity dot money estimates a net worth that is over 500,000 dollars, earned through success in his numerous endeavours - he’s since opened his own totally legal distillery while still participating with the reality show. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Tim is a third generation moonshiner, and first found popularity when he became one of the subjects of the show “Moonshiners”, and his net worth started increasing thanks to that opportunity.
“Moonshiners” is about the life of people who produce illegal moonshine in the Appalachian Mountains, and shows their liquor production, life, and law evading techniques. There has been controversy surrounding the show, as local officials have claimed it actually depicts no illegal liquor production. The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) issued a statement that if the activities were illegal, law enforcement would have taken action, and have requested that the producers state that the show is a dramatization. The request was ignored and producers have stated that their content is real. Some parts of the series are taken from a documentary film entitled “This is the Last Dam Run of Likker I’ll Ever Make”, which depicted a moonshiner who was arrested and subsequently committed suicide.
Tim has been part of the show since it started airing in 2011, with the first season having seven episodes. The show has had a total of six seasons so far with the latest season going on for 17 episodes, adding up to a grand total of 83 episodes to date. Other regular cast members include moonshiners Tickle, Jesse, Mark, Lance, Jim Tom, Josh, and Bill, and the show has obviously proved successful as the viewing audience has remained well above a million for every episode, sometimes double that number, and certainly helped in increasing Tim’s net worth - in fact in 2013 a spinoff series was made entitled “Tickle”. Thanks to the money earned in the show, Smith then opened his own legal distillery located in Kentucky. His brand is called Climax Moonshine, and is for sale in several states, including Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia and South Carolina.
For his personal life, it is known that Tim is married to Shelby and they have a son. He also does volunteer work, and is the Fire Chief of the Climax Volunteer Fire Department; his wife also works at the department. The fire department has released statements saying that the “Moonshiners” show is just a way to showcase the history and heritage of moonshining. Tim cannot state more about it since he’s under a contractual obligation with Discovery Channel. He’s been working for Climax since 2004, and when he’s not a part of the show, he also works as a mechanic.
Tim Smith from the Moonshiner
By SONYA SORICH — ssorich@ledger-enquirer.com
A week after Shaq and John Rich came to town, another familiar face showed up in downtown Columbus: Tim Smith from Moonshiners on the Discovery Channel.
Smith came to a Tuesday party to promote his Climax Moonshine at Bootleggers in downtown Columbus. Yes, we're talking about legal moonshine.
Climax Moonshine is billed as the drink of defiance.
What's the secret to a quality moonshine experience? Well, probably a designated driver.
But Smith also taught us the intricacies of drinking moonshine, including the interesting technique of taking a gulp of moonshine followed buy a gulp of sweet tea.
Moonshiners on the Discovery Channel tells the story of those who brew their shine - often in the woods near their homes using camouflaged equipment - and the local authorities who try to keep them honest, according to the network.
The show is set in Appalachia. Smith hails from Climax, Va.
His online bio notes, Despite his general disregard for authority, Tim's become quite an authority himself. He knows what good, pure and strong should taste like. He may be legit, but make no mistake -- Tim Smith and his Climax Moonshine are the real deal.
Here's a quick history of moonshining, courtesy of the Discovery Channel:
The origin of moonshining in the United States has been linked with the Whiskey Rebellion during the 1790s. Under President George Washington, a federal tax was imposed on whiskey, which farmers strongly resented - leading to a backlash and rise in illegal distillers. Even the origins of NASCAR have been linked back to the skilled driving of moonshiners eluding law enforcement.
The Ledger-Enquirer's Joe Paull and Sonya Sorich spent some quality time with Smith. Watch them sample his moonshine in this video.

SUMMARY
=======
Ulysses S. Grant (born Hiram Ulysses Grant; April 27, 1822 – July 23, 1885) was an American soldier, politician, and international statesman who served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877. During the American Civil War, General Grant, with President Abraham Lincoln, led the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy. During the Reconstruction Era, President Grant led the Republicans in their efforts to remove the vestiges of Confederate nationalism, racism, and slavery.
From early childhood in Ohio, Grant was a skilled equestrian who had a talent for taming horses. He graduated from West Point in 1843 and served with distinction in the Mexican–American War. Upon his return, Grant married Julia Dent, and together they had four children. In 1854, Grant abruptly resigned from the army. He and his family struggled financially in civilian life for seven years. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Grant joined the Union Army and rapidly rose in rank to general. Grant was persistent in his pursuit of the Confederate enemy, winning major battles and gaining Union control of the Mississippi River. In March 1864, President Lincoln promoted Grant to Lieutenant General, a rank previously reserved for George Washington. For over a year Grant's Army of the Potomac fought the Army of Northern Virginia led by Robert E. Lee in the Overland Campaign and at Petersburg. On April 9, 1865, Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox, and the war ended.
On April 14, 1865, Lincoln was assassinated. Grant continued his service under Lincoln's successor President Andrew Johnson and was promoted General of the Army in 1866. Disillusioned by Johnson's conservative approach to Reconstruction, Grant drifted toward the Radical Republicans. Elected the youngest 19th Century president in 1868, Grant stabilized the post-war national economy, created the Department of Justice, and prosecuted the Ku Klux Klan. He appointed African-Americans and Jewish-Americans to prominent federal offices. In 1871, Grant created the first Civil Service Commission. The Democrats and Liberal Republicans united behind Grant's opponent in the presidential election of 1872, but Grant was handily re-elected. Grant's new Peace Policy for Native Americans had both successes and failures. Grant's administration successfully resolv ...
