Aberdeen BFI Film Academy - Interview with Alex Matthew
An interview with one of last year's participants on the Aberdeen BFI Film Academy course delivered by Shmu.
Applications for 2018 is now open. Building on the success of the delivery of our previous BFI Film Academies, Station House Media Unit [shmu] is working in partnership with the British Film Institute, Creative Scotland, North East Scotland College and the Belmont Filmhouse to deliver Aberdeen’s fifth BFI Film Academy course. The prestigious course is targeted at young people (16-19 years) who have a passion for film-making and are interested in developing the skills that will help them work towards a career in the industry.
The course will run weekly from October 2018 to February 2019. It will include masterclasses from a range of industry professionals and culminate in the production of two short films.
The deadline for applying for our next course is Friday 21st September 2018.

Polish Association Aberdeen na 100-lecie odzyskania niepodległości
20.10.18 - gość 'Śniadania po polsku', Mateusz Łagoda, prezes Polish Association Aberdeen opowiada o wydarzeniach kulturalnych upamiętniających 100-lecie odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości, które odbędą się w Aberdeen między 1 a 5 listopada.
Program obchodów 100-lecia niepodległości Polski:
1 listopada, St John’s Church, godz. 19:00 – Spektakl Teatru Polskiego w Bielsku-Bialej pt. „Bogu i Ojczyznie” przygotowany we współpracy ze znakomitymi muzykami bielskiej sceny muzycznej. Premiera odbyła się w ramach jubileuszowego – XXX Tygodnia Kultury Chrześcijańskiej organizowanego przez Klub Inteligencji Katolickiej w Bielsku Białej. Na scenariusz spektaklu składają się pisma i przemówienia Jana Pawła II, Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego, Adama Mickiewicza, ks. Piotra Skargi.
2 listopada – „Polish Scottish Ceilidh”, Klub Exodus (nad pubem Tripple Kirks), od godz. 19:00 : Danse McCabre zagra szkockie i polskie tańce. Będzie można też posmakować polsko-szkockiego jedzenia. Bilety £10; £6 studenckie (tylko dla osob 18+). Od godz. 17:00.
3 listopada, St Andrew’s Cathedral, godz. 12:00 – recital organowy oraz fortepianowy prof. Tomasza Orłowa (Uniwersytet Ślaski).
3 listopada – w Aberdeen Arts Centre od godz. 16:00 przemówienie historyka prof. Zdzisława Biegańskiego; Book reading z prof. Helen Lynch oraz dr Elwira Grossman, która wygłosi wykład o Mickiewiczu: „Adam Mickiewicz and his poetic world”;
Godz. 19:00 Spektakl „Lilies” w wykonaniu teatru Lustro Sceny/ Mirror of the Stage. Po spektaklu muzycy Melting Pot Collective zagrają dla gosci w Caffee Bar. Bilety £10 dostępne na paaberdeen.co.uk
4 listopada, Newton Dee Phoenix Theatre, godz. 15:00 – Koncert fortepianowy oraz organowy prof. Tomasza Orłowa

5 listopada, Belmont Filmhouse, godz. 18:00 – Wykład prof. Zdzisława Biegańskiego (Uniwersytet Kazimierza Wielkiego) oraz prof. Karin Friedrich poświecony historii rozbiorów Polski, pierwszym latom XX wieku, odzyskaniu niepodleglości oraz powstaniu wielkopolskiemu.
Po 12 listopada wystawa „Kobiety Niepodleglosci” do Aberdeen zawita Central Library.
