The normal time taken for climbing Ben Nevis to the top by the tourist path is three and a half to five hours - coming down is much faster, between one and a half to two and a half hours.
The mountain is there to be conquered, and inspires people every year to make a Ben Nevis climb to the top. For every person who makes it they've achieved a personal challenge. Some make it harder for themselves on purpose by carrying things, and some because they start at a disadvantage to the rest of us but all want to make the Ben Nevis climb.

An ascent of Ben Nevis 4,409' via the tourist route. On average it probably takes about 8 hours up and down, watch out for the weather and there is a lovely pub right at the bottom of the track serving great food and beer. Have a great walk.

After falling in love with the Scottish winter, I took a trip on the Caledonian Sleeper with some friends up to Fort William to climb Ben Nevis by the CMD Arete. Blessed with the most incredible weather, we had one of the best days any of us have had in the mountains.

At the start of Glen Nevis, 10 minutes’ walk from Fort William town centre and 1 miles from Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, this guest house offers Scottish breakfasts and rooms with free Wi-Fi.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory and includes porridge or a hearty cooked option. The eggs are from the resident hens and if you need to leave early, a packed breakfast can be requested.
Each room has en suite bathroom facilities with soap and a hairdryer. Other facilities include a flat-screen TV with DVD player and tea/coffee making facilities.
Ben Nevis Distillery is less than a 5-minute drive from Ben Nevis Guest House and guests can also try canoeing, diving, sailing, climbing, hiking, canyoning and skiing in the area. There is free parking and a secure undercover area for bikes at the property.

Staying at Fort William I traveled to the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre before hitting the Ben Nevis Tourist trail.
At the bottom of the trail the weather was hot and stuffy but as we ascended we came across lying ice and snow.
Visability at the top was poor with only a little brief respite where the clouds parted and gave us a partial view of the scenery around us.
It always amazes me how unprepared members of the public are when trying to climb these high mountain peaks. Quality mountain boots, walking poles, multiple layers and waterproof clothing are an absolute minimum.
In contrast mountain runners pounded past us as well as the occasional hardy mountain biker.

In 2015 The White Knight became the first person in history to attempt a decent on the steep WEST FACE! of UK's Highest Mountain. The camera is only 2d and softens many angles of severity, but huge amounts of testicular fortitude had to be harnessed to tackle the route put down for a desperate shout to get peoples attention & raise funds for what the rider believes in most - Cancer Research progression. Using Extreme Downhill Mountain Biking, The White Knight Team set out to raise donations & to try to engage a younger generation to the importance of association with Cancer Research, by showing it in an exciting and cool image they can relate to. These young minds are after all our next generation of Scientists, Researchers, Campaigners and Fundraisers!
