EXPLORING VALENCIA DURING LAS FALLAS FESTIVAL - Mascleta, Central Market, Churros & Miguelete
Las Fallas Festival in Valencia is one of the biggest Fiestas in all Spain, so when visiting this amazing city in March 2018 we made sure to check it out! Among all of the other top attractions here as well of course.
We start of by visiting the Central Market (Mercado Central) for some food, a great spot to pick up some Serrano Ham and Manchego Cheese! Its a great place to get a real feel of the Valencian Community and we love it.
Then of to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the old Silk Market (Lonja de la Seda), Plaza Redondo and a quick look at the narrowest building in all of Europe (and maybe finding some Churros along the way). Before making our way up the bell tower (El Miguelete) next to the Cathedral, where you have a full 360 degree view over all of Valencia Old Town.
Finally we head to Plaza Del Ayuntamiento where Mascleta takes place every day at 2pm in the run up to Las Fallas Festival! The fireworks and firecrackers were incredible and the whole atmosphere was really something!

The Ancient City Muang Boran
At the Muang Boran 'Ancient City' museum park just outside of Bangkok (Samut Prakarn). It's a huge, fantastic complex built in the shape of the kingdom with 116 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. They've put a lot of work into this place, the grounds are well kept and colourful, well-worth a half hour drive to the city outskirts.

Weekly Vlog #11: Valencia Fallas festival | CharliMarieTV
This week I went on a trip to Valencia Spain to see my boyfriend and the Fallas festival! Please remember to subscribe
When I first went to Valencia in 2009 I just so happened to be there at the right time for Fallas, and I've wanted to go again ever since so I'm pleased I got to this year in 2015! As with many things in Spain it's a traditional religious festival, but really it's about community spirit and creativity. (EDIT: thanks to a lovely commenter for letting me know that wikipedia is wrong, its not a religious festival, it just has religious elements) Each little community creates a Falla (giant sculpture made from wood+ papier-mache) that is often a satirical commentary or something relevant to the community. There's a competition for the best one, and on the last night of Fallas every Falla except the winning one is stuffed with fireworks and burned in something called la crema! There are also fireworks displays and macletas (sound fireworks) throughout the weeks and it's basically just awesome. here's some links to read more about it:
