Bennetts Beach, in Hawks Nest, is the beginning of a long stretch of beach, which enters the Myall Lakes National Park and extends north to the fishing village of Seal Rocks through a virtual wildlife corridor.

The beach has views to the Yacaaba Headland, which is at the mouth of the Myall River across Port Stephens and north to Myall Lakes National Park.

The beach is popular with those who enjoy outdoor activities including swimming, surfing, photography, walking on the beach or collecting sea shells.

Day out on Bennetts Beach Hawks Nest

Day out exploring Mungo Brush and surrounds, take the Lemon Tree Four Wheel Drive Trail onto Bennetts Beach and head north to Dark Point (Little Gibber Headland). National Park Pass or Day Permit ($8) required. Tyres at 16 psi, entry/exit is very rutted, I went with low range.

June 2009 Driving on Bennetts Beach AKA Mungo Beach Hawks Nest. 2005 MK Mitsubishi Triton 2.8TD. Bridgestone Duelers AT at approx 12psi. Sand was very soft and the fishing was hopeless.

Beach to bush to beach with TJM Hunter Valley // VLOG 8 //

On this VLOG we hit Hawks Nest and then head up and do McBrides Beach Trail at Forster!!


I got invited along to a customer weekend away with Michael and his team at TJM Hunter Valley.

The boys decided to gather some good customers of theirs and do an overnight camp up to Hawks Nest and stay at the Myall River Campground and after nabbing a good spot in the grounds we quickly set up the swags and let some air out of the tyres and hit lemon tree beach.

After a great night around the fire and a few beers we packed up nice and early and headed straight up to Forster to tackle the infamous Mcbrides Beach trail.

Conditions for the track on this day were perfect... we had a picture perfect blue bird day and nice and dry and the track itself was dry and grippy with plenty of fun to be had

For this track I would reccommend a minimum of a 2inch lift and some bigger tyres for the extra ground clearance and as always its best off doing it with a second car to be on the safe side.
