Fiji Shark Dive with BEQA Adventure Divers, Pacific Harbour
During our trip to Fiji, I booked a shark dive with BEQA Adventure Divers at Pacific Harbour. At one point during the dive, we were surrounded by at least 30 adult bull sharks that dwarfed any of us. Whenever a bull shark swam above me, I could feel how powerful they really were. We also observed numerous species of reef sharks, which are much smaller and almost harmless to humans, but are efficient hunters in their environment. Unlike the sharks' bad reputation as bloodthirsty killers, the sharks didn't bother us and barely showed a little curiosity towards us as the divers fed them bait. Unfortunately, despite surviving for 450 million years, humans are the biggest threat to the shark's survival. Up to 100 million sharks are killed each year with the majority being for shark fin soup in China and SE Asia. We should do everything we can to protect our oceans and the shark species.
This dive was an incredible experience and something I will never forget. For more about our experience and this dive, visit Fijisharkdive.com and our blog at Lingerabroad.com.

Beqa Adventure Diving, Fiji, October 6, 2014
Bull sharks off Pacific Harbour in Fiji. This video was shot October 6, 2014 and we sighted about 25-30 bull sharks on this day. The Beqa Lagoon is part of a Marine Protected Area and since being established the shark daily sightings of Bull sharks have skyrocketed from only 6 to at times over 100. Local marine biologists believe that someday the area can again host upwards of 2000 bull sharks. Please do your part to help stop shark finning and promote areas for shark conservation.
Bull shark Diving with Aqua Trek Beqa - Pacific Harbour Fiji 2018
This had to be one of the best experiences I have ever had underwater. Its about a 3hr bus ride from Nadi to Pacific Harbour, and they have a nice place to stay where the boat docks.
The morning starts with breakfast and of course COFFEE! After that a quick briefing and loading of the boat.. It's only a short ride to the dive site.
We had 2 dives, both to about 18 meters (or 60 freedom units for you mericans) Once you get to the bottom its all on, at one point we had over 10 bulls in the immediate area, all hungry and prepared to do what ever it took to get that free food!
Thanks to the crew who took us out, awesome service! Overall a great experience, totally recommended if you are in Fiji.
From Aqua-Trek Beqa:
Aqua-Trek Beqa was the first dive centre to start shark feeding in Fiji. Located in Pacific Harbor, Navua, all dive trips take guests to the Beqa reef area, which is home to the world’s most diverse shark feed in the world.
‘The Ultimate Shark Encounter’ is rated one of the best shark dives in the world. Multiple Bull Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Silvertips, Nurse Sharks, Grey, Whitetip and Blacktip Reef Sharks and Tiger Sharks can all be found on this amazing dive.
Beqa Lagoon is renowned for its stunning soft coral and colourful marine life and has the most accessible soft coral diving in Fiji. Explore caverns, pinnacles, wrecks, big fish and sharks - all just a short boat ride away.
