Trekking High Atlas Mountains Morocco (from Amizmiz to Oukaïmeden)
Hey everyone!
Let me begin the journey by telling you that we've been broken the records as a result of being the first team that has trekked the high atlas mountains from Amizmiz village to Oukaïmeden mountains. All that happened through 3 days on the winter wich nobody has tried it before! due to the severe weather (i'm talking about low cloudsblind cloud) on wich we couldn't see moreover than 10m!! it was absolutly grueling to see what happen around you xD
Actually, while we were exploring the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. we found out the tracts stunningly beautiful and regarded as one of the most scenic hiking destinations in the world. Also we stayed with Morocco's indigenous people.....the Berbers. Truly, a once in a lifetime adventure.
In brief i wanna thank Youssef's uncle,Brahim's folk and Hassan for the tender and the warm cordial reception.
For further infos don't hesitate to write me about the trip!

A Perilous Pass in the High Atlas Mountains! Morocco!
Greetings from the heart of Morocco, way up high in the High Atlas Mountains! A podcast on mountains, rain, and Berbers, from the roadside of the most perilous Tizi n' Tchika Pass! ALthough you can't tell from the vid, I am standing behind the 1-foot high guard rail, on the edge of a 3000 foot drop off...which is standard operating procedure on this incredible high altitude road of risk!
The High Atlas in Morocco
High Atlas, also called the Grand Atlas Mountains is a mountain range in central Morocco in Northern Africa.
The High Atlas rises in the west at the Atlantic Ocean and stretches in an eastern direction to the Moroccan-Algerian border. At the Atlantic and to the southwest the range drops abruptly and makes an impressive transition to the coast and the Anti-Atlas range. To the north, in the direction of Marrakech, the range descends less abruptly.
The range includes Jbel Toubkal, which at 4,165 m is the highest in the range and lies in Toubkal National Park. The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco running east-west and separating the Sahara from the Mediterranean and continental zones to the north and west. In the higher elevations of the massif, snow falls regularly, allowing winter sports. Snow lasts well into late spring in the High Atlas, mostly on the northern faces of the range. On the Western High Atlas, there is Oukaïmeden, one of three main ski stations in Morocco.
The High Atlas forms the basins for a multiplicity of river systems. The majority of the year-round rivers flow to the north, providing the basis for the settlements there. A number of wadis and seasonal rivers terminate in the deserts to the south and plateaux to the east of the mountains.
The High-Atlas Mountains are inhabited by Berbers, who live from agriculture and pastoralism in the valleys. In the steppe zone of the High-Atlas, where precipitations are low, the locals created a smart technique in managing the low precipitations and the weak soil. They turn the rather semi-arid lands into fertile valleys called locally by Agdal (garden in Berber). This technique has intrigued many Western agriculturalists, in which they were impressed by the high efficiency of this agricultural system. Many scientists, particularly French scientists, make yearly expeditions to observe the community and their living system.

If you don't have time to traverse mountain passes, you can take an overnight trip to the Agafay Desert: a rough, dry, moon-like expanse 40km southwest of Marrakesh down the Route d'Amizmiz. This is a favourite playground for weekending Marrakshis who come for horse-riding, dune-gazing and canoeing on Lalla Takerkoust, a man-made reservoir. In spring wheat and wildflowers predominate; in
summer and autumn it really does look like the desert.

BEAUTIFUL NATURE - Hiking In The High Atlas Mountains Morocco Day 4/4
On our final day hiking, we went through valleys, over across streams, it's safe to say this is my favourite hike. This trek was made possible by Aztat Treks. All opinions are my own through out this video and on the videos to come. A company I would highly recommend. They offer lots of different excursions. Feel free to check their website
