Trekking day 1 of 3 in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
A great adventure trekking through the Atlas mountains in Morocco, going through the many villages and eating on a beautiful pass with a view that was breathtaking. A once in a life time experience with a fantastic group of brothers.
This is part 1 of the trek, there is a part 2 of the biking in the mountains that you still need to watch.

TRIP TO ATLAS MOUNTAINS MOROCCO - OURIKA VALLEY & Asni Valley
This video is about a day trip to the Atlas Mountains Morocco from Marrakech. A road trip to base of Atlas Mountains ending at the Ourika Valley. We eat Berber Tagine along the Ourika River and make lots of stops along the way... There are lots of day trips you can take from Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains is a popular ones. On this day trip to Atlas Mountains from Marrakech, Morocco we also stop at Lake Takerkoust, Asni Valley and the Ourika Valley. While in the Ourika Valley we had lunch along the Ourika River, highly recommended.
Lake Takerkoust is a manmade lake built to supply water to Marrakech as well as water for agriculture in the neighbouring valleys. It was meant to look natural and if you didn't know it was manmade, you'd never guess it. It's now a big vacation spot for people in Marrakech offering all sorts of water activities and outdoor activities as well.
Asni Valley was a bit of a drive through, it was beautiful and scenic. There was a small village we drove through but never really stopped so can't say much. The Ourika Valley was cool and the river was line with restaurants serving good Moroccan food. We stopped at one which was clearly where all the tour operators drop their people off ha. It was cool but would have preferred some random one along the way. We had Berber tagine of course and it was delicious.
After lunch we basically made our way back to Marrakech as the day trip to Atlas Mountains was over. We were also spent, tired and very full from lunch.

Spending a day in the Ourika Valley, Morocco.
This photocollection gives you an idea of the Ourika Vally as well is climbing to the Ourika Waterfalls in Marocco.
The road, P2017 can be pretty bad, especially at the end, but the photo's also give you a good feeling about the rather difficult climb up to the highest and biggest waterfall of Ourika.
Certainly not suitable for little children or older people.
If you want to see it anyway, look at one of my other video's of these beautiful waterfalls.
After visiting the waterfall, or before,.. I recommend to have lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants where the local tradition is to eat with your feet in the water.

The drâa valley is not simplest a a hundred kilometres lovely long stretch of date arms among ouarzazate and zagora, in southern morocco. It is also an area offering wonderful opportunities of exploring marrakech and awesome views of the mauve atlas mountains, with the oued drâa river -the longest in morocco- disappearing often on the equal time as you circulate downstream from the atlas mountains, and wherein dozens of kasbahs can be noticed alongside the river.
On top of this, inside the superb drâa valley location you can even find out a few cave paintings and rock engravings or can venture on a marrakesh barren region ride.
The drâa valley is a charming valley providing an excellent form of impossible to resist points of interest. The herbal splendor of the valley is stunning and truly deserves a visit. In case you observe the river down from the excessive atlas mountains, you will enjoy the sight of an infinite plantation, regularly of palm timber, on each river financial institution. The plantation goes on for severa kilometres till the wasteland seems and takes over the landscape.
But it is not until you achieve zagora that real barren place often starts offevolved, first of all with only a stone barren region showing some lonely sand dune right here and there. But when you pass m'hamid, the real limitless sand sea covers the complete horizons and the actual dunes dominate the surroundings. Proper right here, you could experience a few actual desolate tract camel hiking, caravan-fashion...
Except the plantations -which include cereals, greens, henna and special flora- and the barren region, there are numerous (six in general) oases which includes palm groves a with an average width of three kilometres, however engaging in as plenty as a hundred kilometres in some locations. The splendor of those oases -called mezguita, tinzouline ternata fezouata ktaoua, and mhamid el ghuzlan- is actually astonishing and the assessment with the aridity and the dryness in their surrounding is pretty startling.
Different websites which may be simply well worth a go to along the drâa valley are the severa rock art engravings or petroglyphs that can be discovered inside the area. There are numerous internet websites wherein rock art work can be fashionable, notwithstanding the reality that the high-quality regarded are foum chenna (tinzouline), aït ouaazik (asguine tarna, tazzarine) tiouririne and tisguinine (zagora).
Except this rock paintings and engravings, there can be a necropolis, additionally courting from prehistoric times, in foum larjam -because of this mouth or passage of the tombs- at the djebel beni-selmane, to the south of tizi beni- selmane.
Because the statistics of the drâa valley consists specially of durations of struggle most of the exclusive nomadic tribes, there can be no wonder that the drâa is mainly well-known for its kasbahs or islamic fortresses. There are dozens of kasbahs along the drâa valley, but the maximum well-known ones are, north to south, the kasbahs of tamnougalt and of aït hammou ousaid close to agdz, the kasbahs of el caïd ouslim and oulad outhmane in tamezmout, the kasbahs of foum and achnna n'kob in tinzouline, the kasbah of tat ifli in beni zouli, the kasbahs of amezrou, aït ali tighramt ouziguen, and of laglaoui in zagora, the kasbahs of agouim nouaadjou and tagounite in tagounite, and the kasbahs of aït bounou, laallouj, oulad driss, and rgabi in m'hamid el ghuzlane.
Besides the natural, the ancient and the architectural wonders that the drâa valley gives, there are also small villages alongside the valley in which era seems to have stopped, so little is the impact of modernity on them. In those villages that spot the panorama right here and there, ladies are absolutely and continuously veiled while they wash their clothes on the riverbanks and men are in some way watchful and distant, possibly unaccustomed to overseas web site visitors. Those human beings, except arabic, communicate their very own dialect of the berber vernacular, called tashelhiyt.
Take the possibility of exploring marrakech and its environment, as well as a risk of trekking morocco and taking element in some camel hiking in morocco in one of the most beautiful areas of southern morocco. The great manner to go to the drâa valley is both collectively together with your car or with some tour operator that organizes marrakesh day trips and treks in morocco. The drâa valley, its oases and kasbahs, its palm groves and sand seas, are expecting you...
