Bergman's Island - A student short film (Crowdfund)
Hi! We’re Karan and Sanjay, film students and massive fans of Ingmar Bergman.
Wanting to explore his place of residence and famous shooting location, we’ve decided to head to Faro, an island in Gotland, Sweden.
Ingmar Bergman is one of the most highly revered filmmakers of all time. In the 1960s, he decided to move to Faro, and some of his most famous works were shot in the island since then. Having lived in the island till his death in 2007, the place is considered a shrine by many of his fans.
Fårö is a Baltic Sea island just north of the island of Gotland, itself off mainland Sweden's southeastern coast.
Boasting highlights such as the myriad of rock formations on its coasts, the Faro lighthouse, and not to forget, the Bergmancenter, a restoration dedicated to Ingmar Bergman and his film archives.
However, getting to Faro isn’t easy. Even from London, the travel entails a flight, a train, a bus, and two ferries.
Having researched visual material on the island, we discovered that the island hadn’t been documented in any online video form. We want to be the first to do it now.
As film students with modest budgets, we’re hoping to gain funding for this passion project of ours. Any contribution, even as little as £1, will massively help us reach our goal, and fulfil our wish. Thank you.

BERGMAN SAFARI dag 1
Bergman Safari 2013. During a guided tour we visited shooting locations for Persona, Through a Glass Darkly, Shame and Scenes From a Marriage. We also traveled throughout the landscape of both of Bergman's Faro Documents, and during the tour, a collection of clips from the Faro locations in the movies was shown. Along the way, a scene from Shame was re-enacted, where I played a part! (The man's part was played by Swedish director of documentary films).

Bergman’s sanctuary island faro, a site of pilgrimage for fans
Endless winters, sparse pine trees rising from infertile soil, few sheep and even fewer people: the Baltic island of Faro is not only a natural film set for Ingmar Bergman, but his sanctuary and final resting place. A small island in the Baltic Sea, Faro’s coastline is strewn with distinctly-shaped ...
István Berg - Leaving for Fårö
This track I realized is my simple tribute to Ingmar Bergman, one of my favorite artists ever. I used some samples excerpted from several films of his and tried to portray the psychological condition of a man who definitively says goodbye to his great career before leaving and never come back.
