walking in Basseterre, St. Kitts from Berkeley Memorial all the way to the Viking Sea
This shows our walk in Basseterre, St. Kitts from the Berkley Memorial (misspelled on the internet everywhere as Berkeley even though the sign on site says Berkley) through the touristy Port Zante shopping area for cruise ship passengers and then through the gate out to our cruise ship, Viking Sea, docked at the cruise ship dock alongside a Carnival ship on February 28, 2018. We had ridden the train earlier in the day and that ride was one of the highlights of our entire cruise. We were on a Viking Caribbean cruise.
Berkley Memorial in Basseterre, St. Kitts, Saint Kitt and Nevits
This is the Berkley Memorial in Basseterre, St. Kitts and this is the correct spelling according to an onsite marker notwithstanding that everywhere else I saw on the internet spell it incorrectly as the Berkeley Memorial whereas there is no middle e according to the onsite sign.
walking in Basseterre, St. Kitts from the cruise ship dock to the Berkley Memorial and back
This shows almost the entirety of our self-guided walk from the cruise ship dock to the Berkley Memorial and then back in Basseterre, St. Kitts on February 28, 2018. We were here during a West Indies Cruise on Viking Sea. After our amazing train ride and bus ride around the island, we decided to venture out on foot and leave our cruise ship and this is most of what we saw. FYI, regarding our way back, I have posted the portion of our walk beyond the entrance gate along the pier back to our ship as a separate video to the effect of walking along the cruise ship dock in Basseterre, St. Kitts.

SECOND CRUISE PIER NINETY PERCENT COMPLETE
SECOND CRUISE PIER NINETY PERCENT COMPLETE
Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 19, 2019 (SKNIS): Minister of Public Infrastructure, Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, says that the construction of the second cruise pier project is ninety percent completed.
The minister made that revelation while addressing members of the media during a tour of the construction site at Port Zante on August 19.
“The dredging works are completed … the padding works I am advised are 100 percent complete and all concrete works are 85 percent complete. The water supply lines are installed, and I am also advised that the pier construction is 90 percent complete,” Minister Liburd said.
He went on to say that the pier construction is on schedule and that “barring any adverse conditions, and if it is the will of God, by September 23rd this pier would be completed.”
Construction of the second cruise pier is one of several major capital projects currently being pursued by the Team Unity-led Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The commercial construction contract for building the second pier was signed between the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), a crown agent of the Government of Canada. JV Driver is the Canadian Commercial Corporation’s prime sub-contractor on the project.
The construction cost of the entire project is US$94 million.
