The Berlengas archipelago is a Portuguese archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, west of Cape Carvoeiro.
The Berlengas Nature Reserve has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 30 June 2011.
These islands are perfect for sports like diving or stand up pedal. The waters are crystal clear and calm.
For fans of rails, there are several miles that can be traversed.
On the quay of Peniche there are several agencies that can take you to the island. The agency that transported me was the Pássaro do Sol. A quick and lively trip.

أرخبيل بيرلينجاس هو أرخبيل برتغالي ، يتكون من جزر جرانيتية ، ويقع في المحيط الأطلسي ، على بعد 5.7 ميل غرب كيب كارفويرو. ينتمون إلى بلدية بينيش. كانت أول منطقة محمية في البلاد عندما حظر الملك أفونسو الخامس ملك البرتغال الصيد في جزيرة بيرلينجاس (بيرلينجا غراندي) عام 1465. تعتبر محمية بيرلينجاس الطبيعية محمية طبيعية لليونسكو منذ 30 يونيو 2011.

The Berlengas archipelago is a Portuguese archipelago, composed of granitic islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean, 5.7 miles west of Cape Carvoeiro. They belong to the municipality of Peniche. It was the first protected area in the country when, in 1465, King Afonso V of Portugal prohibited hunting on the main island of Berlengas (Berlenga Grande). The Berlengas Nature Reserve has been considered a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve since June 30, 2011.

A praia do Baleal é uma pequena península (no passado uma ilha) localizada a 4 km a norte da cidade de Peniche (capital da onda), na região oeste de Portugal (distrito de Leiria, a cerca de 100 km de Lisboa), separada do continente por um tômbolo. No lado norte da península podemos encontrar a ilhota das Pombas inacessível e o ilhéu de Fora.
No passado, as baleias passavam por estas águas para rumarem até aos mares do Norte.
O Baleal tem condições únicas na Europa para a prática de desportos náuticos, nomeadamente para a prática do surf e bodyboard. Tendo óptimas escolas de surf.
O Baleal tem muito provavelmente o melhor pôr-do-sol. As cores do Oeste de Portugal são inigualáveis.
Do Baleal vê-se o arquipélago das Berlengas e a papoa de Peniche.
O Baleal é tudo de bom, bom mar, boa comida, bom sal, bom surf, bom oxigénio.
Baleal beach is a small peninsula (in the past an island) located 4 km north of the city of Peniche (wave capital) in the west of Portugal (Leiria district, about 100 km from Lisbon
), separated from the mainland by a tomb. On the north side of the peninsula we can find the inaccessible islet of Pombas and the islet of Fora.
In the past, whales passed through these waters to make their way to the northern seas.
Baleal has unique conditions in Europe for water sports, namely surfing and bodyboarding. Have great surf schools.

The Berlengas Archipelago lie off the West coast of Portugal, 10 km from Peniche. Berlenga Grande has a small harbour and beach, and is home to Puffins, Cormorants, and, as featured here, thousands of squawking, pooping Seagulls. Sadly no Puffins to be seen on our trip. Peniche is a city in Portugal, being the westernmost city in Continental Europe. Situated on a peninsula (in the past an island) about ten kilometers in perimeter.
Peniche is much more than surfing… Peniche is the people, the fishermen, the smell of the sea air, the ocean, the sardines and the percebes, the fish stew, the varina and the Berlengas. It's the wind beating on Papoa, it's that feeling of western Portugal.
The path over the limestone cliffs to Cabo Carvoeiro is magical. Try going early in the day and feel the surrounding atmosphere, it will come out renewed.
At Cabo Carvoeiro, catch a glimpse of the Corvo Ship and the view of the Berlengas Archipelago.

Dependem administrativamente da freguesia de São Pedro, em Peniche, sub-região Oeste. Foi a primeira área protegida do país quando, em 1465, o rei Afonso V de Portugal proibiu a prática de caça na ilha principal das Berlengas (Berlenga Grande). A Reserva Natural das Berlengas é considerada Reserva Mundial da Biosfera da UNESCO desde 30 de Junho de 2011.

The Berlengas’ Islands archipelago is formed by three peculiar islands called Berlenga, Estelas and Farilhões, being the largest and most emblematic the Berlenga Island. On these islands you might find unique manifestations of animal and plant species as well as unique beauty and landscape.
An adventure journey to the Islands, the closest island is Berlenga Grande Island situated 5,7 nm (10,6 km) off the mainland, the total distance traveled 23,4 nm (43,3 km) with almost no wind. The hobie mirage drive and the Torqueedo electric motor were the main propulsors.
The huge quantities of Henslow’s swimming Crab (Polybius henslowii) swimming near the ocean surface were responsible for the weak fishing results of the day.
In spite of the crabs many Mackerel and Horse Mackerels were cached near Stelas Islands, these species can not feed on crab.
