Beer Tasting & Burlesque Show at the oldest bar in Berlin (Ballhaus)!! Vlog 6 (4K)
The Ballhaus is the oldest bar in Berlin and it is a very cool place to visit. You can find an eclectic mix of people here and I hang out with some of the locals and have a few German beers. Of course German beer is some of the best in the world. This place has a Beer Garden, Hostel and Ballroom all together. It was an exciting find and a real gem in the heart of Berlin.
After meeting the owner of the place, he generously invited me to a Burlesque show inside the ballroom. What a fantastic experience this was, the location, costumes and scenery transported me back I time. I felt that I could have easily been standing back in the 1920's or 30's and watching this spectacle unfold. Thanks so much to everyone at the Ballhaus for treating me so well, I had a great time. Can't wait to visit again.

Dating in Berlin: Fetishization
When dating outside of your race as a person of color can be tough. Especially if you feel like the person you're dating is fetishizing you. As the amount of POC in Berlin is small, that could be something they face. Here are my thoughts and experiences on fetishization and dating while Black in Berlin.
Everything you need to know about German beer culture | DW English
There's a lot more to the German beer culture than donning a Dirndl and downing a Maß at Oktoberfest. In the first episode of the new season of Meet the Germans, presenter Rachel Stewart reveals how you can drink beer like a local - all year round.
Rachel Stewart is on a mission to investigate the quirks and idiosyncrasies of daily life in Germany. Every two weeks she explores a new topic - from beer to nudity to complicated grammar - and heads out to get some tips from the Germans themselves.
Rachel moved from the UK to Germany in 2016. As a relative newcomer she casts a fresh eye over German clichés and shares her experiences of settling into German life. You'll find more from Meet the Germans on YouTube or at dw.com/MeettheGermans.

What Happens At Oktoberfest?
The inaugural Oktoberfest was first celebrated in Munich in 1810 in honor of Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities began October 12, 1810, and lasted nearly a week until October 17, ending with an exciting horse race. After such a spectacular party, the couple decided that the same type of festival should be continued annually. In the following years, the festivities were repeated every October and they eventually moved forward into September due to better weather.
Today, Oktoberfest is the largest festival in the world, with an international flavor that is extremely characteristic of the 21st century. More than 6 million visitors from all over the world take part in Oktoberfest every year.
Hofbräuhaus History in Munich
1589- The Foundation of the Hofbräuhaus
On September 27th 1589, Duke Wilhelm V. Founded a brewery on the site of the Munich residence - the ancient court ( der Alte Hof). This first Hofbräuhaus existed until 1808 and was only a few paces distance of today’s Hofbräuhaus. They brewed brown beer. Only the foundation document is preserved.
1828- The Hofbräuhaus for Everybody
To the regret of the innkeepers and private brewers, they feared a decrease in guests. King Ludwig I. declared by decree the royal beerhall to become a public beerhall. Even today regular guests of the Hofbräuhaus recall this memorable event by a toast.
1879- The registration of the trade-mark HB
During the 19th century ambitious brewers loved to copy the successful sign of the then already worldwide known brand “Hofbräuhaus” This plagiarism only stopped when the trade-mark, which consisted of a crown and letters HB was declared trade-marked by the imperial patent office of Berlin in 1879.
The Hofbräuhaus with it’s history of more than 400 years, offers many stories which you can experience at the Hofbräuhaus exhibition. Open daily from 9am - 1700 on the gallery of the historic festival hall (2nd floor). Free entry.

Hops & Barley normally is packed. The reason is as simple as convincing: their own brewed beer. Very international crowd in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. If you´re not into the Hofbräuhaus experience, but more into a pub evening out, Hops & Barley is definetely a good choice.

Well I don't have a problem with the smoking ban because my wife gave me a choice to quit smoking or drinking and I chose smoking because drinking would have been more difficult. And the weather right now is perfect and will stay so until the end of the week so, it (beer) tastes good!
10. SOUNDBITE (English), Austin Spencer, US tourist in Berlin:
Yes, we specifically came here to search out a beer garden and see what it was like. I guess that is the stereotype to me German experience. I had a pretzel and a beer. I'm quite excited.

The reasons for retracting sales figures for beer in Germany are demographic, also socio-demographic, or changed style of life, but also the smoking ban and permanent discrimination of alcoholic beverages and finally the general economic situation but also the bad weather

STORYLINE:
Rainy weather, smoking bans, an aging population and a preference for more health-conscious fare have put a stout dent in the sale of beer in Germany, leaving the nation's brewers ailing, a report said last Thursday.
Sales of beer - a veritable staple in Germany for centuries - dropped from January to June to their lowest level since the government's Federal Statistics Office began keeping tabs on such figures in 1991.
The office said that German breweries and beer storage facilities sold some 1.3 (b) billion gallons (4.9 (b) billion litres) of beer in the first half of 2009.
That is nearly 60 (b) billion gallons (230 (m) million litres), or about 4.5 percent, less than in the first six months of 2008.
Beer proponents blamed a number of factors, including fickle weather after a summer that's been more wet than sunny; the excess rain has meant fewer barbecues or evenings at the neighbourhood beer gardens, drinking cold ones with friends and family.
Beyond regular beer, an even steeper decline was seen in the sales of beer mixed with lemonade, soda or fruit juices, which fell 7.4 percent to 210 (m) million litres (56 (m) million gallons) compared to last year.
German beer consumption has been steadily declining over the past decade, something often blamed on higher prices due to increased production costs, as well as a more health-conscious public.
Numerous smoking bans have also been implemented across the country, forcing beer-swilling patrons to head outside for a smoke instead of staying at the table and ordering another round.
