MUNCHIES Guide to Berlin: The Modern Food Culture
Our host Kavita takes a look at the food from the New Berlin. After the Berlin Wall came down, Berlin experienced great change as artists from all over the world visited, restaurants and bars opened, and the food culture modernized.
Kavita meets Wally, an expat living in Berlin since the 90s, who has experienced the change firsthand and has the stories to tell about it. She then visits Koreans living in Berlin who have mixed their culture with German traditions, then finally heads to Nobelhart & Schmutzig, where German food gets reinvented.

Learning German with easy stories is one of the most effective ways to learn the language.
When reading a story you expand your vocabulary, understand how German sentences are
structured and put together and most importantly you start to pick up German words and
phrases and beginn to use them yourself.
Finding suitable German short stories which are easy can be quite difficult.
A lot of the stories you find online are old and the German language sounds
dated. Tenses and sentence structure can be complex and not written
in way you would use them in a real life German conversation or story.
The German short stories on „ich heisse sherin“ aim to be
easy enough for beginners and at the same time
still educational for more advanced German language learners.
The topics range from explaining differences between similar
sounding German words, focusing on a single word and its word group,
personal letters, German idioms and so on.
All supporters of „ich heisse sherin“ get a PDF with each story
with the complete written out German short story,
a German-English vocabulary list and
exercises to
practice each short story’s content.
Still for as little as $1.

VLOG 11: Best Falafel in Berlin ($3 a day - vegan - part 3)
Okay, so this may not be a video about the BEST falafel in Berlin, but it is probably the cheapest :) We wanted to make a video that illustrates that you can live on a tight budget, but not give up your social life completely. Eating out is a huge part of a lot of people's lives and it is a wonderful way to spend time with family and a friends, however it can easily become a super expensive habit ... appetizers, dessert, drinks... I mean it is not surprising for people to easily spend over 30 euros a person on a dinner out, which is over a weeks worth of food budget in our frugal lifestyle. So we decided to show you how eating out cheaply can be done in Berlin and enlisted the help of our friend Alix (instagram.com/ouijetaimeaussi) who found falafel for just 50 cents.
The main way to make sure that being frugal doesn't dictate your entire life is to be creative and proactive. Instead of waiting for other people to suggest things to you (let's go to this new bar?, want to go get sushi? go to the movies?) make the effort to organize events for all your friends. Not only will you be able to keep the budget low for the activities, but your friends and family will appreciate you taking the initiative to plan fun things for everyone to do. Some cheap things that can be done anywhere: movie night in with homemade popcorn, go on a hike and bring a picnic lunch, go on a walk in a park, game night, have a potluck, look up free events in your area, the list goes on and on! If you have any favorite free activities share them with us in the comments below : )
We'll have 6 videos in this series and we hope to cover not only how to make great tasting, healthy meals, but also fun things to do that are free, the struggles that come up and so much more.
If you have any questions or suggestions for us please leave us a comment below! We absolutely love hearing from you and can't wait to share more.

Berlin Beer & Currywurst Tour by Berlin Food Tour
The currywurst is one of Germany’s essential classics that you should definitely give a try. Invented in Berlin in 1949, the currywurst is the most popular street food in Berlin. Besides the Currywurst Berlin has also an old brewing tradition and is undergoing a small microbrewing revolution nowadays. Like the city itself, the new face of Berlin Beer is exciting.
Berlin Food Tour
Berlin Food Tour is for everyone who want to discover not only
Berlin but also the Berlin way of life, and indulge in some of the most exciting eating spots. In Berlin the word neighborhood still means something. The word “Kiez” is used by Berliners to describe the neighbourhood where they live and feel at home. As a city within a city, each district has developed its own charm and atmosphere.

No food in it (unless you count coffee as food?)
I wanted to show you an apartment in Berlin (it's not the one we are staying in currently).
We were desperate for an apartment at the time so we got something bigger than we normally do.
The place was $4000 AUD a month (which is more than we need) but it was lovely to stay in!
BTW, there were 11 heaters!!
Hope you enjoy the video!
