Jams, Jellies... & Mosquito Repellant? NATIVE BEAUTYBERRY
Beautyberry, or Callicarpa americana, is a gorgeous Florida Native that is quite worthy of it's name when the berries ripen in early fall (zones 7-11). Not only does it add a beautiful color to the landscape, but it also fairly useful. It has long been used to make a brightly colored jam or jelly, because of it's natural pectin content, but the chemical compounds (callicarpenal and intermedeol) contained in it's leaves have lately been proving to be even more effective than DEET when properly processed through a distillation process.

9 Types of Berry Bushes to grow in your Garden
Probably the easiest thing to grow in the garden are berry bushes and plants. They're mainly perennial, meaning they re-grow every year, and most are relatively low maintenance. The main thing you really need to worry about is picking the fruit before the birds get them.
In this film I introduce you to nine different berries that I grow in my allotment garden. Some may be familiar but I'll bet there's at least one type that you've not seen before. Let me know which one it is for you as a comment below. Or if you knew (or maybe grow) all of them let me know that as well.
More questions for you:
1. Do you have any further information on Jostaberry Leaf Netting? Or do you think that the leaves infected might be White Pine Blister? I'm finding it difficult to ID the issue.
2. What are your thoughts on the simple raspberry support system?

Callicarpa or The beautyberry and Benefits
The Many Health Benefits of Callicarpa (beautyberry) is a genus of shrubs and small trees in the family Lamiaceae. They are native to east and southeast Asia (where the majority of the species occur), Australia, Madagascar, southeast North America and South America. The temperate species are deciduous, the tropical species evergreen. The leaves are simple, opposite, and 5–25 cm long. The flowers are in clusters, white to pinkish. The fruit is a berry, 2–5 mm diameter and pink to red-purple with a highly distinctive metallic lustre, are very conspicuous in clusters on the bare branches after the leaves fall. The berries last well into the winter or dry season and are an important survival food for birds and other animals, though they will not eat them until other sources are depleted. The berries are highly astringent but are made into wine and jelly. Callicarpa species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Endoclita malabaricus and Endoclita undulifer.American Beautyberry Callicarpa americana is native to the southeastern United States. It can typically reach 1 to 2 meters in height. A jelly can be made from its ripe berries. Ornamental varieties of Callicapra Americana have been bred to have pink or white berries. Bodinier's Beautyberry Callicarpa bodinieri, native to west-central China (Sichuan, Hubei, Shaanxi), is more cold-tolerant than C. americana, and is the species most widely cultivated in northwestern Europe. It can reach 3 meters tall. Japanese Beautyberry Callicarpa japonica, native to Japan, is also cultivated in gardens. It is called Murasakishikibu in Japanese, in honor of Murasaki Shikibu. American beautyberry has been used as a folk remedy to prevent mosquito bites. Four chemicals isolated from Callicarpa have been shown to act as insect repellents: borneol, callicarpenal, intermedeol, and spathulenol. The use of callicarpenal has been patented by the United States Department of Agriculture's Agriculture Research Service as a mosquito repellent.

Identifying Wild Goji and Ruby Saltbush Berries ????????????
????????????????
◕❧ These bright red Ruby Saltbush berries grow wild here, on the estate. I thought they did, indeed, look like beautiful red jewels or sparkling rubies, in the afternoon autumn sun. Learn to recognise them. The edible fruits and leaves of this plant, Ruby Saltbush (Enchylaena tomentosa), were, and still are, eaten by Australia's First People. The red berries are juicy, sweet and pleasant eaten raw, with a slight salty taste. These berries can also be soaked in water to make a sweet beverage, or dried and reconstituted later. The boiled leaves can be served as a green vegetable. A red dye can be made from the berries.
African Boxthorn (Lycium ferocissimum) also grow in the nearby countryside, here. While they are considered a noxious weed, and may have been sprayed with weedicide, many hold that they are edible as goji berries, to which they are related.
To confuse things even further, there is also a native Australian wild goji berry called Lycium australe. It's berries are said to be edible and are traditional bush tucker of Australia's indigenous people.
Warning:
Never eat any wild plant without first checking with a local expert.
