Fun at Frenchman's Hole, Bethel Maine
Cliff jumping at Frenchman's Hole north of Bethel, Maine.
From the Wild Swimming New England Blog:
What to Expect: On any swimmable day, expect to see swimmers, hikers, and individuals looking to jump the falls at Frenchman's Hole. The falls are usually packed with thrill seekers looking to jump from the top of the falls down to a deep pool below. The drop is about 20-30 feet. It's recommend that brave wild swimmers take plunge.

Hammock Camping the Grafton Notch Loop
Filmed July 2015
Join me for an attempt at the Grafton Notch loop.
The trip begins at the southern trail crossing of RT 26 and continues counter-clockwise around the loop.
Base weight for this trip lands just shy of 15lbs which I believe puts this in the lightweight backpacking category. Full loadout with 4 days of food, fuel, and a few liters of water comes in right around 30lbs.
This was a great trip for me and I learned a lot about life on the trail. I will never claim to be an expert - this is a never-ending learning experience. Each time we head out we come back with some more tips and tricks to use on the next trip.
This is an amazing and challenging trail. It expects an incredible amount of effort but rewards accordingly.

Illustrating Thoreau's Maine Woods: A Photographer's Journey
Scot Miller discusses his seven-year project photographing northern Maine for his new book, The Maine Woods: A Photographic Journey Through an American Wilderness, which combines contemporary imagery with text from Henry David Thoreau’s classic essay collection, The Maine Woods (first published 150 years ago). He will also screen The Unexpected Journey, a short documentary about the making of the book.
Both Thoreau and Miller's journeys took place alongside the people and traditions of the Penobscot tribe, past and present. Special guest James Eric Francis, Sr., Director of Cultural and Historic Preservation for the Penobscot Nation, opens the evening with a presentation entitled, A Sense of Place: Henry David Thoreau's Wabanaki Perspective.
