Adelaide Contemporary: David Chipperfield Architects and Sjb Architects
Adelaide Contemporary will be an open and inviting place in the city. The gallery, both unique and of its context, lends itself to the display, reinterpretation and coming together of art from a variety of mediums and origins. The building is a timber structure, comprising large screens and sloping roofs.
Distinct from its neighbours, it sits comfortably as part of both city and garden, providing a threshold between the two. Volumetrically, three linear, staggered bars extend from North Terrace toward the Botanic Garden. To the north and east, a landscaped garden creates a new vibrant, open space in Adelaide. The Gallery of Time sits at the heart of the building, while areas for further display, learning, debate and engagement are located on the exterior, visible to the city. Ceduna Oysterfest 2017 Day 2
Check out our website for information regarding our services
adelaidedrone.photography
In its 27th iteration, an estimated 6000 people are expected to
attend with almost half traveling from other South Australian
regions and 300 from interstate. It is fantastic to see this event
grow each year, with guests adding to the region's annual
368,000 domestic visitors.
During the course of the three day festival, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy Eyre
Peninsula's charm first hand. There will be free seafood tastings, the signature 'Oyster
Shuck & Eat' competition, live music, carnival amusement stalls and art workshops,
showcasing local produce and talent side-by-side. South Australian chef, premium food
and wine ambassador and Tasting Australia creative director, Simon Bryant, will host a
series of cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend. South Australian
singer/songwriter and Tamworth Country Music Festival regular, Amber Joy Poulton, will
return to the line-up this year, joining local emerging artists for the Pearl In the Shell Talent
Quest.
The Eyre Peninsula has long been hailed the Seafood Frontier with Ceduna and Smoky Bay producing some of South Australia's best oysters. Ceduna Oysterfest provides the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy local produce.
There has never been a better year for tourism in South Australia's history. Our State was named by Lonely Planet as one of the five best regions in the world to visit in 2017. In the past year, our visitor economy has grown by $1.1 million to reach a massive $6.3 billion –
the highest on record. We are continuing to smash all records and are well on track to reach our $8 billion target by 2020. The State Government's $70 million additional investment in tourism is delivering major economic results, and it's so pleasing to see more South Australians are exploring their own backyard and supporting local tourism.
The Ceduna Oysterfest is one of hundreds of events which help make South Australia such an exciting place to visit as well as being named Best Events State two years in a row.
Simon Bryant
Former co-host of ABC TV's 'The Cook & The Chef', and current
creative director for the longest running national food festival
in the country, `Tasting Australia', Simon Bryant brings his take
on fresh, regional produce to the Oysterfest for a series of
cooking demonstrations. He describes his food philosophy as
…ethically sourced, local and fresh ingredients. I reckon my
job is just to get these onto a plate with a minimum of fuss
and let the produce shine. We are very proud to have Simon
bring his considerable experience and skills to the Oysterfest,
and can't wait to see what he does with our Far West Coast
produce. Simon is brought to the Oysterfest with the support
of Ceduna Foodland.
Amber Joy Poulton
Since Amber Joy Poulton burst onto the country music scene
with a Top 10 spot in the world famous Toyota Starmaker, she's
barely stopped to smell the roses with two original albums and
two tribute albums to her name. She has had a huge presence
on the Top 10 Australian Country Music Charts with her latest
single & title track to her new album Foolish Things making it all
the way to number 3 alongside Keith Urban & Lee Kernaghan.
As well as being an award winning songwriter, Amber Joy also
adores bringing the classics back to life with covers by Loretta
Lynn, Linda Ronstadt, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, June Carter
Cash and more. Always on the road in a town near you, she'll
be making her first Oysterfest appearance with her backing
band, the Holy Men.
Debbie Poyner
Local acoustic guitarist and vocalist Debbie is a regular performer at
the Oysterfest and has developed quite a fan base!
Enjoy her set list of contemporary covers when she takes to the stage during the festival.
Damushi Ensemble
This high quality, high energy seven piece international band, which has been touring to Australia since 2005, has already been featured
to universal acclaim in this year's Adelaide Fringe Festival and Port Lincoln's Tunarama Festival.
They are comprised of traditional drummers, guitarist, bassist, singers, and dancers, each of whom is an accomplished
musician and performer in his, or her, own right.
Through the media of both performances and workshops these talented artists and skilled teachers share the rich cultural life of their communities in celebrating events such as naming, puberty and
purification ceremonies, and thanksgiving to ancestors, with traditional Ghanaian music, Hilife and contemporary African drumming rhythms and songs backed by Afro Latin/Jazz
musicians. Damushi is brought to the Oysterfest with the assistance of Festivals Australia.

Sydney is in the southeast of Australia and has over 4.5 million inhabitants. Because of its beautiful location on the Pacific Ocean, its 300 sunny days per year and its life-loving inhabitants, this city is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Sydney is full of sights and you need far more than a day to visit just part of it. The main attractions are the Harbor Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach.

Perth, the capital of Western Australia, follows the Swan River from the port of Fremantle to its source in the Darling Range.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia describes the development of the state through art. Inside the Royal Mint is the largest gold coin ever made.
Perth's coastline, with pristine sand beaches, is popular among visitors. Others head straight for the boutique wineries of the Swan Valley.

Rottnest Island or Rotto has long been the favorite weekend getaway for Perth's city dwellers.
Cottlesloe Beach is on the city's doorstep, and renowned for its excellent surf. Hillary's Boat Harbour and the Sorrento Quay boardwalk are ideal for a sunset stroll.

THE AUSTRALIA ARTIST TRADING CARD TOUR 2002.mov
In 2002 I took The First International Biennial of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) to the New Land Gallery in Port Adelaide, South Australia. The exhibition then toured to a number of galleries in South Australia (SA) and Wendy and I were able to visit a number of the towns in SA where the show was to be exhibited to conduct ATC Workshops and talk about ATCs. We were in SA for about three weeks and it was cool to go to places that otherwise we would never have visited, because the exhibition was touring to that town. The ATC show toured until 2003. We visited Port Adelaide, Adelaide, Murray Bridge, Berri, Kappuda, Port Lincoln and Millicent, the last two by small airplane. Some of the places were fairly remote --- everybody we met was fantastic, helpful and generous. Australia is quite large, just a little smaller than the continental USA, as a map in the video demonstrates. We spent the final week we were in Australia in Sydney a wonderful place. We happened to be there when the Sydney Biennial was on so we got to see a lot of art in that exhibition. Terry Reid who lives in Sydney, and a former instructor of mine way back in the late sixties at the Alberta College of Art and a legend in the Correspondence/MailArt world, met us at the Sydney Airport and gave us some amazing tours of Sydney and put us up at his place.
The ATC Biennial was initially exhibited at The New Gallery in Calgary in 2000 and was organized by Chuck Stake and vänçi stirnemann and there are some posters that refer to that exhibition in the video and some ATCs by vänçi.
In addition to the ATC show Wendy had an exhibition entitled WENDY TOOGOOD - CLOTH CONSTRUCTIONS which was exhibited in 12 public art galleries in South Australia, it toured until 2003.
MUSIC:
Australian tour and images, so, Australian music, and I mean MUSIC!!!!!
The music is by Mason Rack an AMAZING Australian guitar player, singer, drummer and entertainer. The Mason Rack Band from the Gold Coast of Australia. I have seen many guitar players and I have never seen a better player than Mason, many as good as he is but he is right up there with the best. And a funny thing: the first time I saw him was in Nakusp, and I have subsequently seen him four times here at the famous Three Lions Pub in the heart of downtown Nakusp. The first time I saw him was after Wendy, Kathleen and I had been to see a movie at the Nakusp Movie Theatre, which is about 50 to 75 feet from the Three Lions Pub (3LP) --- earlier in the day Deb had phoned us or emailed us that her and Rod were going to see this musician named Mason Rack at the 3LP, I asked W and K if they wanted to go but the wanted to head home, so, all by myself I headed down the hill the 50 to 75 feet to the 3LP and opened the door. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I opened the door and a WALL of sound hit me and I thought I was in heaven --- it was LOUD and more importantly: INTENSE! I joined Deb and Rod at their table and enjoyed one of the best evenings of musical ENERGY I have ever experienced. Rack and his band, bass and drums, were a force of nature. He played a number of different guitars (links to some YouTube so you can see him in action, just amazing). But in addition to singing (and writing most of the tunes) he switched to the drums at one point, played the drum kit and then stared drumming across the floor and up the legs of the tables and table tops and he was amazing. Other times I have seen him all members of the band have started drumming on three aluminum beer cans and flipping their drum sticks across the bar to each other, VERY dramatic and entertaining (and I mean entertaining in a positive sense) --- there is a link below to a video that shows them doing the drumming stuff. They are GREAT musicians but the also really entertain, lots of energy.
Rack himself is an interesting man, covered with tattoos and a FULL of energy --- like a bull in a china shop, he sounds a lot like Tom Waits when he sings while accompanying himself on a searing guitar.
Mason Rack is available on iTunes.
