Vid - 383 Enchanting drive thru Muthodi forest - Part 1
Muthodi forest is a part of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, about 30 Kms form Chikmagalur, KA. We drove at a slow 30 to 40 kmph via Mallanduru - a tiny village where my husband had worked for a couple of years as a bank's branch head - taking in the enchanting scenery, flora & fauna. Stopping at a few places to listen to the sounds of the forest - the chirping of birds, the call of the foxes & the chatter of the monkeys - this certainly was heaven.
Stopping your vehicle in the middle of the forest is, however, not advisable as this forest is notorious for wild animals like elephants, bison, foxes, monkeys & antelopes roaming around even during the day. Tigers are rarely seen on the roads & can be found deep in the forest.
The roads are very narrow (only single lane) & one needs to respect the sanctity of the forest by driving slowly & carefully around corners. We drove beyond Jagra a tiny village in the forest but then as the road condition was terrible we decided to call it a day & turned back. This video includes only the onward journey....return journey coming up shortly. Please stay tuned.

After crazy off road ride to Bandekallu Gudda,
(Link to previous part : )
We still had half of the day left in the timeline :P We had to ride back to Bangalore the same day. If we had left to bangalore after lunch , we would have probably reached at 6PM or so and have ample amount of time to rest. But we cannot come once again just to go through Bhadra reserve forest. Hence we chose to explore one of hidden less known treasure, Bhadra wild life sanctuary on the same day. It would have been hectic (Totally 780 kms in a single day), But manageable.
The route that connects Kemmangundi and Baba Budangiri route. This route is reserved forest route which has time limits( 1 Hour through) & duration limits ( 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
The route to Bhadra forest is same as route to Baba Budangiri. There is a deviation before Baba Budangiri that leads to Kemmangundi. The route that connects Kemmangundi & Baba Budangiri route is the Bhadra forest route. The route is totally around 30kms with 13 kms of very bad roads. But its fun in Monsoon.
After this ride, we headed back to Bangalore via Belur - Hassan route.

BHADRA WILD LIFE – The Center of Nature Nurturing
The Documentary Bhadra wild life Produced and Directed by Dr.Sreekantachar Producer-1 Educational Multimedia Research Centre University of Mysore
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary was attained greater significance as it is identified as one of the two ecological and biological hot spots in India. The area was first declared as 'Jagara Valley Wildlife Sanctuary' in 1951 by the then government of Mysore covering an area of 77.45 square kilometers. It was later renamed as Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary in 1974. 24 years later in 1998 this gift of Mother Nature is declared as the 25th Tiger Reserve of India and was brought under “Project Tiger” programme.
Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary has magnificent landscapes and shoal grassland biome. It is a sample of world’s major habitat and eco-system. Being signpost of tropical biological richness it is a living museum and a natural laboratory.
